Well its been a great year in PhotoGAF so I figured we should have a little look through the past years efforts :

Q1 : http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=746278

Q2 : http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=794456

Q3 + Q4 : http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=865445

The Idea is this, we each have a look through and pick your three favourite pictures by other users then post a little bit about why we like them. We all like feedback on our images and this seems a nice way to see how we all got on this year.

I was also thinking that maybe we could also select one of our own pictures that we are most happy with from 2014 but I guess we can see how we get on first
.

Anyway, my three selections (in no particular order) are as follows:

jokkir - Yellow Station

I love the colours, the framing and the motion captured in the passer by. fantastic stuff

Herr K - K

A really nice use of framing and depth of field.

Thug Waffle

thanks for the kind words, guys. ya'll are mad talented

A great use of black and white, the image has so much going on and doesn't feel cluttered. Also it makes me think of Blade runner and I love that film so damn much it just had to get a vote.

I knew this was going to be difficult but seriously that was not an easy job, I narrowed it down to over 30 images before I had to get to my three favourites!!

Anyhoo, its your turn you bunch of talented bastards, lets see what you like from the past 12 months!

Favorite shot by far, everything about it is just perfect to me. The mood, lighting, and composition all really speak to me, and it's one of the shots I looked at for inspiration when I finally decided to put down the cash and get started doing photography for real.

Great work.

This one has an amazing sense of place and scale. The colors really come together well and it was smart to have the stone texture in the middle - gives the shot some nice contrast. Really striking.

I love the colors and tone of this one. It's very gloomy and pleasant to look at. The font and color of the text on the book suits the tone of the shot really well.

I'll post my own favorite later once we start doing that.

Sorry to interrupt, but other than the equipment thread, is there no OT for photography in general? I have some questions to ask since I've been doing landscape photography but would like to do some other stuff.

There was a thread for people learning photography a while back which had some useful bits in :

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=510214

Otherwise just post in one of the quarterly threads and people usually will offer help and suggestions :) I think someone is starting the 2015 Q1 thread any day now but feel free to ask in the Q3/4 thread here:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=865445&page=17

EDIT: Oh and feel free to pick out your three favourite images for here if you feel like it :)

Thanks! I posted in the old thread, we'll see. I'm gonna my post my favorites later.

Holy crap. Thanks for the shout-out, Damaged. It means a lot.

Gonna edit this post with my favorites when I get home. It's going to be really, really frickin' hard to pick just a few.

edit:

I love the atmosphere here. Great location with a well-placed subject. Looks like a still from an underground crime thriller.

Awesome location. Shooting from that high a ridge gave you this immense perspective. The human subject helps us to relate to how large this environment really is. You were in NZ, so naturally this evokes the grand scale of the LOTR films. The wisps of wind are an excellent touch.

This almost has a dream-like feel to it. Very cool contrast between the "classic" b/w look and the innovative wind turbines of today. You caught the sky at the perfect moment. Well done.
