Titanfall Gameplay Footage (Embargo Lifted)

Ok, I officially hate the concept of burn cards after watching that part of the Giant Bomb Quicklook.

The whole narrative around this game has been "balance, balance, balance". Burn cards go COMPLETELY against that.

Will watch all of this

same here

Which platform is the Giantbomb footage running on? It looks a lot cleaner than the alpha. There are no jaggies where there was some in the alpha.

The beta doesn't have the reduced textures that the Alpha had. GB was playing on Xbox one, look and the controller prompts

Just as I assumed that doesn't look like my cup of tea. It's just too fast paced and chaotic for me.

But I can't understand the criticism of the graphics. Looks pretty good to me.

Hard to tell from videos, but it does actually run at 720p, yes?

The Giant Bomb video demonstrates performance and you can see moments of tearing and slowdown throughout. It seems to hold 60 most of the time but it's definitely not rock solid yet.

Cinemablends Graphical Comparison

please read the rest of the article via link to give Cinemablend their just clicks

comparison pics at the link

I clicked and regret it. Huge assumptions in that article, with bold, risky statements like "The PC version is going to look better" and this gem..

"For Xbox 360 owners, it may not be worth it to invest in a $500 machine for the game if the upgrade may only be incremental. Respawn has until March to get the game ready to be shipped, but it's unlikely that the graphics will improve by much if they want to maintain the 60fps margin on the Xbox One. "

No one has seen the Xbox 360 version, but the Xbox One version isn't that much better? How do they know? And it's unlikely the game will look better in the final build? How do they know? The whole article is click bait, based on a multiplayer alpha.

People don't have get carried away. Looks phenomenal, amazing etc etc. It 'looks' average. Although the gameplay looks great fun.

when they announced the xbox one exclusivity, as a ps4 owner i didnt really seem to care too much because the game seemed like cod on speed.

having seen more and more, i can say its not for me. there are some really cool aspects in the movement, titan gameplay, pace, and smart pistol, But there are to many blaring generic shooter tropes for me to become interested in this as a long term game. the lack of recoil and large amount of cannon fodder AI are the two biggest, but bad graphics/art design and over emphasis on the call of duty xp/feedback loop make it look extremely dull for me. The AI enemies especially ruin it for me as it seems to be a way to cater to less skilled players, which call of duty already does enough, and it provides to much filler in combat and i can see it becoming very repetitive/boring.

i see no reason as to why this game is being hyped up beyond belief, but the titan's do look somewhat cool so ill give it that. ultimately im viewing this game as another casual shooter designed for the masses ala COD and im completely burned out from that shit.

Those comparison images are weird. I don't doubt that the PC version will have noticeably better image quality but the Xbox One shots in that article look to be suffering horribly from jpeg or similar compression artifacts while the PC shots do not.

looks like 720p and black crush, not much different than cod ghosts on one

It seems to be a one-off bonus to help you if you die but many of the later cards just look like xp-boosts etc.

Maybe they could be used for a more tactical reason. Like when you change class in Battlefield because more vehicles are around. Swapping to engineer makes sense. Now for Titanfall, imagine if your team is getting stomped by Titans., so you swap class and use burn cards for those Electric Grenades, or increased Titan defence etc.

The more I see the less excited I am. The visuals, come on, you expect better really, it looks dour at times. Still looking forward to trying it though, the gameplay could be superb.

Graphics look serviceable enough (though they still look last gen). Gameplay without Titans is boring looking. Once Titans get involved however, the game really shines and looks like incredible fun.

Right. That's not balance.

I hope they are extremely weak and largely useless.

I really wanted this game when they first showed it.... the art direction is excellent and the concept is really cool. It was my one regret about not buying an XBOX One and going with the PS4.

But... then they said it was coming to PC too, and I was happy.

But then they took the campaign away... why make such an awesome universe and then not do anything with it? Did we not learn from Brink?

I want to be interested in Titanfall. I really really do. But.... I'm just not.

The campaign is in the game it's called Campaign Multiplayer.

Has Respawn mentioned anything about custom game options for private matches because that for me is the main draw for these types of games.

I really hope there's a Titan only game mode

Apparently one of the modes available in Beta is called "Last Titan Standing" in which every player starts in a Titan and there are no respawns. Read it in one of the various previews I think IGN, hoping I get into the Beta to try it out :)

The campaign is part of online MP. Cutscenes before and after matches. Like Brink.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I think that's the basic thrust of it, yeah. The story doesn't sound very complex anyway (scrappy rebels vs. sinister megacorp) so they probably didn't need more.

I was watching gameplay of this at my college's library. Someone walked up to me and asked me if it was call of duty. I told them no, and they laughed, thinking I was being sarcastic.

Its introducing some very interesting gameplay ideas that are gonna be fun, sure, but visually it looks so boring and repetitive. Ah well.

Okay, people who don't like TitanFall and Infamous need to stop entering these threads. You don't like them. We get it.

I'm gonna call it right now. It's going to be useless and they should not have bothered. It probably is just a glorified tutorial.

Looks like a good game. I'd rather just have separate FPS and Mech games still after watching this new gameplay though.

Will probably beat Killzone easily so the Xbox will have the best FPS for the foreseeable future.

Will that smart pistol be as effective against players as against the AI? Getting multiple headshots simultaneously with no effort?

Looks like my friends will be having a lot of fun come next month. Gameplay looks fun and as someone that doesn't play a ton of FPS' and often gets torched by veteran players, I like the idea of Burn Cards.

I do think that the prompt to "Press Down to Titanfall" sounds almost meme-worthy though. I get that they're trying to bludgeon us with branding whenever possible, but it just comes off sounding silly, imo.

Umm...I know it's been kind of a joke for a while now, but cod with mechs seems like a very accurate description for this, not that there's anything wrong with that. I just don't know if it's enough to feel refreshing to someone who's burned out on cod already.
