The Order: 1886 - New Gameplay Footage Released Before Embargo

To be completely honest, the weird duality between CG and gameplay is kind of confusing from how the guy in the video described it. If there is true parity as they say... why have CG at all? Seems like he's biting into the PR. Obviously the actual game won't look as good but it's a damn good place to start before they get to final optimization (if that is gameplay we're seeing).

I am pretty sure there is no CG. The guy talking over it just has no clue. What he meant to say is cutscene. Usually even cutscenes that are not pre-rendered look way better than the actual gameplay, with this game they have reached parity.

That's what it looked like, yes, but being able to pick from multiple QTE animations doesn't make this any less shallow, especially if both QTE's end up accomplishing the same thing.

My guess is that you either take precious time to look for the most effective weapon/method of attack, or risk going for the closest thing at hand, which might not be effective.

its not hard to believe this stuff is in game, there are games already out that looks better than this.

Not on a console though.
But that is an opinion, just like yours. I am sure you were there when Sony showed it off to a select few

holy shit! this is the best looking console game i've ever seen! I can't believe how seamless it is from CG to gameplay... that's fucking insane. I just wish we could see more about than that corridor and QTE, but WOW i'm excited for more.

Tech specs and numbers hunting be damned, this is the prettiest game I've ever seen. I'm sure the tech is remarkable too, but what matters in the end is the final image and holy moly does the final image impress. You'd have to be a damned liar to claim otherwise.

It's still a QTE at the end of the day.

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with them, when done well. They add a little bit of interactivity & tension to situations that otherwise would just be eyecandy. The only time QTEs suck are when they are done like in Ryse (they don't matter at all) or when they are done like in Bayonetta (you get a sudden QTE with, like, a 0,001 second window and if you screw it up, it's game over). This seems to do them a bit differently than usually and it seems perfectly fine to me (it's not just simon says, but you have to be observant of the environments and make quick decisions).

"Cinematic experience" == QTE. Period. We've seen it with Ryse et al. Is everyone seriously giving this QTE shitfest a pass??

This is the first version of this engine too. Just imagine the optimizations and improvements they can make for future games.

Wait, a third-person shooter?

I was told this was going to be a RTS-kartracing hybrid set in medieval England?

I for a moment also thought it was going to be a TitanFall based on victorian London where you could ride giant werevolves instead of robots. Meh.

Nice visuals! As impressive as Ryse to me, but with more cloth physics. Mildly disappointed that a new next-gen IP looks so similar to the old but excellent standard of Gears/Uncharted cover shooting with melee, though I hate the continual use of QTEs in newer games.

Game looks fantastic.

I just hope it really has a good story. Gameplay seems solid enough, although I hope it features at the very least a even balance between exploration/narrative and action sequences.

Game has everything else going for it, even from what little we've seen IMO, atmosphere, visuals, unique setting and probably some sweet ass sound.

Since when have third-person shooters become the new thing to hate on? Seems like only yesterday people were saying "not another FPS! The market is saturated with them!" (Which it kinda is)
