The Order: 1886 - New Gameplay Footage Released Before Embargo

I must be one of the few people not as impressed with the clothing. It obviously clips in the gif of him jumping off the roof, and at the beginning the movement doesn't make much sense to me since the steam right by him doesn't indicate there's really any wind. It looks outstanding but the physics seem off to me.
The devs still have half a year to iron out those things though. The main problem I have is that the game looks like a corridor/cover shooter. There's so much potential to make something much bigger.

So this is the most visually impressive game I've ever seen. By a landslide, no less.

Completely blown away. I just hope the gameplay is up to snuff.

the cloth animations are CG right?

Nope. All realtime/gameplay.

The QTE's look a tad more interactive than usual - in that you have to look around the environment to find what you want to use before being able to press the button prompt. Will be interesting to see how the mechanic works in the event of you failing to find what you need in time.

So...Cogs of War, then?

The setting and game engine do look loverly though. But the character deaths look very stiff, lacking realistic weight and physics. After seeing Deep Down I'm a bit spoiled.

Yeah maybe. I'm still a little confused about that encounter though. With the way it's set up (Galahad dropping through the wooden roof, almost falling on the guy as he lands, and the perfect camera angles) I have my doubts about it being a representation of a typical melee encounter. It looks to me more like a specific scene in the campaign that only happens at that point.

Yeah, that's probably what's actually going on here. Wish we'd get more organic gameplay.

Lost for words how good this looks. But then again RAD were masters of the PSP producing some of the best looking games on the platform. Imagine the end of the system's life when we get the PS4's "The Last of Us".

This year is going to be glorious for graphics. Especially this and The Witcher 3. Next gen is finally here (launch stuff could be easily compared to some high end '13 PC games, the stuff that's coming up now seems one step above those games in everything but pure IQ).

No, this is the b-roll footage (which in fact is not meant to be shown consecutively like in this video).

We are still getting a new, different trailer 14:00GMT/15:00CET (PS Nation guy confirmed here on GAF yesterday that we were getting both b-roll and trailer today.)

Thanks

Graphics wise. This game looks absolutely amazing. I'm guessing that where most of the hype is from? Otherwise it doesn't look like anything special. Will wait for more footage to see what new ideas this game has to go with the graphics.

Looks amazing, but I hope it has much more to offer gameplay-wise.
Yes, because a 2-minute clip will show everything a game has to offer. Let's not get silly over here. Resident Evil 4 is just a third person shooter, yet the varying scenarios make it an awesome ride to be on.

What are you talking about?

I just made a dumb joke people are allowed to do as they please, stop taking stuff so seriously.

Well, there's is Pavilion that announced PS4 4th person exploratory game. hehehe And I seem to remember a indie shooter game supposed to be in a 4th person perspective also but I can't seem to find it through google. There's an opportunity there :p

Great graphics, but the gameplay looks to fit too snugly into that Gears of War/Uncharted category that was too prevalent last generation.

Yup and with apparent supernatural enemies I'm intrigued by how those encounters play out.

-third person cover-based shooting
-heavy focus on graphics and "cinematic" feel admitted by the devs themselves
-qte fights
-emphasis on story and actors despite no evidence of actual storytelling prowess

Games like this literally do nothing for me anymore, regardless of how good they look.

Yeah, I am sure the whole game won't be set in Whitechaple. I mean what would the sense be in that? Let's choose the most drab and least aesthetically interesting setting in London to situate our game. Sure it is a fitting setting for a horror narrative, but the aesthetics would soon bore. I expect them to make full use of the capital....

I agree, they could move on to St Giles for something even more gritty and poor or East India docks for some sailor action ;)

This game is looking amazing by the way.

You mean the chimney smoke? I wouldn't expect chimney smoke to have high amounts of updraft. Horizontal, unblocked wind over the rooftops are more likely to move a cape than vertical, slow updraft from chimney smoke, especially after it loses pressure once it escapes the chimney itself.

Got to a computer and watched in 1080p (youtube) and that is one of the best games I've seen. The art style and graphical fidelity work so damn well together.

Looking forward to seeing some of the other kinds of gameplay

And how do you know this already?

I get it if this isn't some peoples type of game because from what we've seen so far we could draw conclusions to it being a TPS, but how people can say things about the story when we know and have seen very little is beyond me.

to be honest my interest level in this game was pretty low after the initial trailer, as the steampunk setting is an aesthetic i'm none too keen on, but seeing this video, I've done a complete 180...

Looks pretty good but I'm not really impressed with the game yet. I haven't been following the development that closely but I hope the gameplay is much more than "just a tps with story". Hopefully that 2014 release date is realistic and they can stick to it.

Compared to old-gen it obviously looks awesome but games have been this good looking for years.

I am just in awe...this game.. mean!!

RaD sure did deliver, this looks like a CGI movie, the animation/Motion/Camera everything about this game is just what I expected from Next Gen..I think this will be a great franchise this Gen and if Sony does not acquire RaD soon..they should as MS could wack out the ChequeBook (that is if they dont want to stay independant).

The QTE sections looks to replace what would be a normal Cutscene with some interaction.

Job Well done RaD...Next Gen has arrived!

But games haven't looked this good to on $400 hardware

I am quite sad that (from what we have heard) we won't get to explore much of this amazing setting.

I think its one of the biggest crimes in gaming to give you fantastic environments but have very little of it explorable.

Still, visually this game is incredible.

inFAMOUS will have to be my large environment playground.
