The Order: 1886 - New Gameplay Footage Released Before Embargo

And how do you know this already?

I get it if this isn't some peoples type of game because from what we've seen so far we could draw conclusions to it being a TPS, but how people can say things about the story when we know and have seen very little is beyond me.
Not only have none of RAD's previous original titles demonstrated strong storytelling, the writer they've got is from Hollywood and doesn't play games, which almost always never works. All this incredible technology, and it's all likely to be expended on such engaging characters as Gruff McGruff and dialogue such as "gotta reload!"

looks massive, cannot wait for the actual trailer later the day
crazy to see what a team the size of RAD is capable to output with the PS4

There's like 5 seconds of of actual gameplay rest is in game footage, well even the original trailer was in engine so it's pretty much the same shit man. Wish they did something like Watchdogs or Division where they showcased 10-15 minutes of gameplay instead.

Looks good. Really like the setting and aesthetic. Really wish this had 4 player co op though. Maybe in the sequel RAD will consider it and SSM will give them a hand to implement it.

Erm, is the guy narrating getting a bit mixed up about the CG stuff? I'm pretty sure that RAD have stated before that everything is realtime, including that E3 trailer we saw. I kind of wouldn't expect aliasing and clipping going on if the cutscenes were CG in the video.

I am quite sad that (from what we have heard) we won't get to explore much of this amazing setting.

I think its one of the biggest crimes in gaming to give you fantastic environments but have very little of it explorable.

Still, visually this game is incredible.

inFAMOUS will have to be my large environment playground.

Eh, this is too premature make a judgement like that. TLOU, RE4, Half Life 2, ICO etc. some of the most immersive environments in gaming but entirely linear. And I never felt a need to have them more open than they were

The narrative overlay in the initial trailer was cliched but well enough written. Otherwise we have nothing to go by in terms of how the narrative will play out. The trailer later today should give deeper insight.

I too expected Beyblades to start flying. What a shame.

hahahaha.

sorry, i should probably clarify: This is from my own personal perspective. People are allowed to enjoy whatever they like. I'm just personally tired of the genre and was hoping a game with such an interesting looking setting had gameplay that was a little less standard.

It's not bad that it's a tps. Y'all enjoy TPS's and so do I. i'm just not holding my breath for this game. Sorry, i thought that was obvious from my post.

Loved the replies tho

E3. Few mins on pressonf, larger playable section on showfloor.

The most important is to fill the scenary with good AI that makes it enjoyable.

If you can find clips from the new tv series ripper street, this was set in white chapel London around the same time so you will get a sense of what it was like. London then wasn't vibrant.

Would vibrant colours be suitable for a game based in London in 1886?

You're right, vibrant colors didn't exist in London in 1886.

Do you expect bright colours in a slum?

Oh damn it, you're right too! Those damn expensive colors!

Uh.... so that it looks like real-life?

The things I'm learning today!

Anyway, I hope this isn't a game where you just kill nameless dudes. Would be a waste of what looks to be an interesting setting.

Looks pretty good but I'm not really impressed with the game yet. I haven't been following the development that closely but I hope the gameplay is much more than "just a tps with story". Hopefully that 2014 release date is realistic and they can stick to it.

Compared to old-gen it obviously looks awesome but games have been this good looking for years.

I've sure played lots of multiplat AAA games on PC with settings cranked to max, but I've never seen any game that approaches this kind of CG-like lighting.

Unless you mean the old adventure games with pre-rendered backdrops?

And thats your key word.

We don't know enough yet to be drawing these kinds of conclusions. How about we actually wait for some footage with sound so that we can actually hear the dialogue before writing certain aspects of the game off?

What ever happened to giving things/people a chance?

Great graphics, but the gameplay looks to fit too snugly into that Gears of War/Uncharted category that was too prevalent last generation.

Yeah it does look a little stiff, I wasn't sure what to expect but a cover shooter with QTE is a little disappointing. Love the setting and attention to detail though.

Well, I like the setting and the characters look gorgeous. I'm not excited about the backgrounds though. I guess I'm a bit bored of greyish/dull color palettes. Also not really feeling the gameplay, but that's only one video - with no sound and a pretty annoying voice.

Looks amazing. Gameplay-wise I'm looking forward to seeing the battles with monsters. Don't give a flying bacon about human vs human battles. Shit's dull.

I'm of the opposite opinion, while I love those games, I've always wanted more from them. I'm a details guy. I like to know where people live, who their friends are. In gaming terms, I'm probably a voyeur. I like to absorb everything in an environment. I'll run around endlessly looking for little knick-knacks.

Hence why I'll always buy whatever console Nintendo put out as soon as a new Zelda releases on it. Scratches that particular itch for me.

Make no mistake though, I'm incredibly interested in this game. I suppose I'm a more sad about the linearity because this time period is one of my favourites in the history of London. A lot of interesting things were occurring around this time.

Are we going to see any of that metal bending, cloth ripping, fire burning action?

not sure if that will be in a trailer but you can definitely expect lots of metal bending puzzles in the game ;)

Dam i am hyped for this!!!
Don`t know if the NO MP is a good thing or not.
I would love a Gears kinda MP on next gen :(.

Any chance they will release a MP as DLC later on?

I really hope this isn't going to play like Max Payne 3. Almost every gun battle is interrupted by an unskippable cut scene of some, even if it's just Max walking through a doorway into the next room. It feels like you're being funneled through one shooting gallery to another with no freedom of choice. Want to blast the enemies before they see you? Sorry, the game decides to throw you behind some piece-of-crap Ikea table for cover and the enemies are set up in the same position no matter how many times you reload the sequence.

I'm all for great graphics and cinematic approach, but I hope it won't be a chore to play.

Lighting and models look fantastic, but its a shame the game is planned to be linear; nothing they've said about the gameplay really piques my interest yet. I'm curious as to what gets compromised to reach that visual fidelity.

Should be a fun cover shooter.

Yet another "cinematic gaming experience".

I got the impression out of that video that, gameplay-wise, The Order looks to be poor and empty, but it'll be an impressive tech demo. Just as how Ryse was.

Who exactly was hyping it by saying that it wasn't a cover based shooter?

I didn't say that. I'm just saying considering the hype, I thought it would be a little more than running down alleys and streets and shooting dudes who don't notice.

What do you expect next gen games to be like when they require you to use a gun? Do you want them to walk down the street like Robocop?

I just expected something more interesting to play. Visually it looks nice but what they've chosen to show looks average.

I thought the game would be a little longer than three minutes too. Whelp.

Breathtaking!

I'm a realist, i expected no more or less than what was shown here in gameplay terms. A cover based TPS. Visually however...that knocked my fooking socks clean off! The atmosphere on show here looks to be just mind boggling! Who knows what another 6 months of polish and optimisation will achieve!

People saying the gameplay doesn't look "next gen" not really sure what your expecting? What IS next gen gameplay?

RAD developers mentioned dozen of times that they want to create game that will surpas Uncharted 2. Lets not judge game with ~20sec of combat gameplay.

Do you want to tell us how the game isn't final, and there is yet to be a good layer of polish/missing GFX features to be implemented :)?
