I really would love know what some of you expected, gameplay wise.

Its guys with guns because guys with guns sell. Have a problem with that? Look in the Mirror :- its your fault.

The order would have the budget it has or the visuals it does if it wasn't a shooter with pretty common elements.

You can't really blame people for being down on the gameplay when the little that we see is the last gen stereotype to a T. A cramped linear corridor with guys shooting in cover and then topping it off with a QTE.

I was only talking about the typical shooter type gun controlled characters you play as in various games. its pretty hard to do anything better than what has already been done with the current controller setup.

But obviously its possible, and we should expect gameplay to be fresh, but not all games NEED to be innovative here, it still works great if the gameplay is sort of the same as in another game. Just look at uncharted and The last of us, they didnt do anything new gameplay wise, they just told the story amazingly well, set up the scenes very well and gave us a visual experience like never before.

I think our discussion will have to end here then, because I feel the last of us actually brought a lot of new fresh ideas to the third person shooter genre.

The graphics were all over the place from impressive to rough. Not much new gameplay shown but what they did show was incredibly bland. Coming off of this reveal I have zero hype for this game. This game seems be trying to sell itself primarily on just graphics, when the graphics themselves aren't worth it and that's a flawed idea to begin with.

Omg yyyyesssss. This has shot right up there with DA:I as my most anticipated next-gen game. This is ridiculous. I rarely ever get hyped up for games anymore but the whole feel of this game...just wow.

I always thought showing gameplay at an actual gaming event such as E3 made so much more sense. Why show a gameplay trailer now and spunk your load (sorry) when you can really hit a home run at E3 when the world is watching.

Heck i remember being shown the epic gameplay "trailer" from the Last of Us E3 2012 by a friend of mine who isn't really into gaming, obviously I'd already seen it by the time he showed me, but it just went to show that these events are more memorable and reach a larger audience.
