Haven't had gold for almost 3 months at this stage. Been playing Hearthstone or games on Steam.

Would love to romp through some games but the feeling just isn't there anymore.

I felt like that - but then the guys I played halo 3 with all jumped on that and we have been playing daily again.

Go back to halo 3 and watch as that feeling comes back in full force.

The funny thing is - a couple of my friends have Xbox ones which are literally gathering dust whilst they are still addicted to halo 3 - I wonder if titanfall will pull them back

As an aside I'm thinking of getting the 360 version of titanfall - I was considering getting a
One but to be honest the only game I can't get elsewhere that I want is halo - and if 343 bungle halo 2 anniversary (343 has a track record of mucking up sure fire hits) there is no point buying one

Halo 3 brings back so many fond memories. I love watching it. If you guys are playing it often then shoot me a friend request because I will drop anything for a full party with which I can play Halo 3.

I remember testing some maps on it for Cartographers that were really good, but I think those just ended up ported to Impact for better lighting or Forge Island when that came out.

Erosion had the neat alternate rust-texture for pieces, but the "Grifball area" was near useless do to very dim lighting, and the lack of natural light in the big cave area made it hard to play maps over there too. It was like going back to Reach's uni-lit Forge maps again.

Also probably just me, but the cubemap they used for forge pieces on Erosion was terrible too. It looked like you were playing against a bright splotches of vaseline in your eye when playing on Forge maps that used big objects, especially if someone had used a Coliseum Wall. Quick YT search and this is the best result I can find that shows that.
Everything looks mouldy in that video, I'm not surprised that maps where built on impact it looks very dark. Not to mention the limited space on map.

Oooh. Might check it out in a minute
...

A bit offtopic. Anyone with a Surface know if you can make it request mobile versions of sites instead if regular versions? Just bought one hah.

vvv Ahh. Thought so. Thanks!

What kind of Surface did you get? I want to get one soon too. I was thinking to get the regular Surface Pro 128gb version. I want enough room to play some games and stuff.

I had a nice High Ground inspired map built on Erosion. Looked mouldy but it looked nice. All my saved maps deleted for some reason. Same with my Campaign progress and loadouts.

Ugh.

I have a Surface Pro 2, I'm checking now for you...

I can't see an option for it - but IE Touch is actually a pretty awesome browser, and you'll be surprised/impressed when you use it. :)

Can you bring up the Developer Tools in IE? You should be able to emulate a Windows phone, but you may have to keep the console up while browsing if you want do the same for all sites.

FOR TITANFALL.

Awwwww yisss.

Some interesting stats from raptr

Most played of all time. Pretty sure it only tracks from when I joined the site because I'm sure I've played more Halo 3 than Reach (not to mention all the 'second accounts' and guest time I had played).

Some choice cuts from my Halo 3 play time in the last couple months:

I think I've got a problem guys. That's what a real Halo does though; once it goes in the tray it doesn't come out. Halo 3 should be categorised under the Controlled Substances Act.

RIP JohnyRL who is now banned.
If you check what his post were i'm surprised it didn't happen sooner that thread was just just a train wreck he isn't a very nice person. Not exactly a loss to me although I might just be cherry picking but I certainly comes across as he was not very accepting of others and their life style choices.

Hey everybody, just another Halo fan who joined GAF recently. Please take some time to read my Survey :)

How long have you lurked?
Since E3 2012 where Halo 4's campaign was shown. My hype train really started there so I just kept on reading articles until some how I landed in NeoGAF. I eventually found the Halo OTs and just kept on reading when any interesting news popped up.

How old are you? What country or state are you posting from? (Optional)
16. Canada.

How long have you been a Halo fan? Have you played all the games?
Well, as long as I can remember, I really started liking Halo after Halo 2. Of course though, I was only around 7 years old at the time so I was extremely terrible, but I always loved Halo since me and my brothers would just hop on Halo 2 and just play even though I was a liability on our teams. Such great times.

I played and beat every Halo game. Loved Halo 1-3, ODST was meh, Reach was decent and I liked Halo 4 was it was still not really what I wanted.

Around 2008 and on is where I really learned the Halo story line, I didn't buy the books but I heavily researched the story line around them.

What mode do you spend most of your time in?

Multiplayer.

What is your favorite playlist?

Big Team Battle.

Help us get to know you better. (Optional)
Well here are some quick little things about me:

My name is Ampoc because by Steam I'm known as Amp but my xbox live username features the word "Havoc" in it. Since Amp is taken, I put two and two together for Ampoc. But, just call me Amp. I was somewhat given the name Amp by a friend and used it since.

I'm probably one of the few people on here of have an XOne. I really only got it for Halo and Titanfall.

I occasionally post on Waypoint, although things aren't really dandy there.

I'm a big fan of Breaking Bad, hence the avatar, even though the show is over.

I'm pretty much a xbox user, but I have a PS3. I only play The Last of Us on it though. I occasionally play GTA 5, Halo 4 and Halo 3 on my 360 and Battlefield 4 on my XOne.

Other than those games, I have not been playing a lot of Xbox since I'm patiently waiting for Titanfall to be released. (I have a not-so-good laptop so PC gaming is not really an option for me.)

Anyway, that's about it about me. Glad to be here and can't wait to meet you guys.

Ampoc, you were 3 when Halo 1 came out. My brain hurts.

Welcome!
Today I realized that I was already out of high school when Halo 2 came out.

And Halo 2 feels like forever ago.

RIP my youth.
So far, I actually love getting older. Check with me when I'm 39 tho.

I miss the days of 18+

It's fucking weird, man.

I'm just surprised because they weren't around when it was new at all. A lot of people who play halo are old as balls because, to us, the game blew us away when it was new and we were young. I just can't see a 16 year old picking up a copy of halo CE and thinking it's the best game ever made by today's standards. Well, maybe I can, but I can't see them keeping up with it after how mediocre halo 2's single player was. I wonder how long they've played halo and what games they spent the most time on.

Whatever the answers are, it's still strange to see them here talking about it with people who grew up playing these games.

A lot of younger people got into the series with the more recent games. I've been babysitting as my main employment for the past ten years, and pretty much every kid I know who plays video games loves / loved Halo. From my experience, Reach was huge with kids, largely thanks to Forge World. And for some kids, their parents won't let them play COD or Battlefield, but they'll let them play Halo. But now it seems to me like a lot of kids are moving on to other games. Halo just doesn't have as big of a community behind it, and the kids are following their friends to other games.

0. INTRODUCTION

Breach is an objective based gametype which includes some of the premises Reach's Invasion included.

The gametype consists of two stages, each stage will either be CTF or Transmission. By default first stage is Transmission and second CTF.

You'll be playing as a Rookie or a Veteran, Veterans are 120% bigger than rookies. Each teams traits can be modified by yourself.

Transmission: attackers must download the data core unlock encrypted keys, if an attacker activates the terminal's switch the download proccess will begin, defenders activating the switch will pause the data transmission. Once the data transmission reaches 100% the first stage will be over. The unlock keys will be send to each attacker's HUD interface.

CTF: attackers must stole the UNSC data core and take it to the designed extraction point. To gain access to the data core the attackers must first unlock the data core, this will take about 3-4 seconds. Once the data core is taken to the extraction point the round will be over.

Next:

1. Secondary objectives.
2. Class based roles.
3. Stage based map mechanics.

I was 29 when Halo CE came out. :-|
You're older than I thought! You've got Ghaleon beat by a few years then. I'm only 29, but I'm probably in the top 5% HaloGAF age percentile. Karl probably has this data in a spreadsheet somewhere.

I loved Marathon, went through the whole series a few years ago when Bungie opened it all up

got some texture and compatibility packs and had a freaking awesome time, seriously, a gotta play for people who like the old school FPS's, it felt beyond its time

I remember these in the Gateway store #timemachine

I played Durandal on the 360, or at least, I tried to. It made me physically ill. :lol
