Any idea whether this will be a turn based RPG?

Its part of the Digimon Story series so its probably going to play exactly like those games but in 3D.

When was the last time we got a Digimon game?

We got Digimon World Championship in 2008 and them Bamco removed all traces of Digimon from their website.

I think the problem with the Digimon games is that kids don't care about it anymore and nobody is trying to remedy that.

Yeah, that's about what I figured.

That's really unfortunate, especially when it seems like something like this is actually being made with honest effort and care. It could play like garbage, but so far? I like what I see.

And I always liked Digimon more than Pokemon. Adventure 01 and particularly 02 are some of my favorite TV, and I don't make that claim lightly.

Does Namco Bandai still have the Digimon license in the west?

If so, that's just sad. I mean, it's obvious they won't use it. I wonder if any niche publisher would take it on if they could.

I mean, there's a fanbase, but it's certainly not children. It's people who knew it as kids back with Adventure/Adventure 02. And are now adults or at the very least capable of buying their own things.

They do and they've acknowledge the demand for Re:Digitize Decode but who knows what that will translate to. Also, I don't thing the fanbase you mentioned is big enough for this game to sell on the level they want it to.

I'd buy this if it was localized (even a text only) and Sony released Vita TVs over here. It looks great and it would be nice to get back into Digimon for a bit.

This year's 13th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that popular manga creator Suzuhito Yasuda (Yozakura Quartet) is designing the characters for the Digimonstory Cybersleuth PlayStation Vita game. The game has the tagline, "When the boy and the Digimon meet … the adventure evolves."

The male protagonist is a boy who controls Digimon and looks up to hackers. He is a cybersleuth with special skills. Agumon is a Digimon who resembles a carnivorous dinosaur, but this appearance belies his great evolving ability. Several mysterious events occur in both the real and digital worlds, and you must become a cybersleuth to solve the mysteries with deduction.

The protagonist lost his physical body in a mishap in cyberspace, but he awakens in a digital body with special abilities. He can freely Connect Jump between the Cyberspace Eden and the real world via terminals.

The game is described as a "rule-of-virtue training RPG game," where the game will take place over the course of four years and evolve. The game boasts many new places to explore, plenty of Digimon to train, and better graphics. Players can even bring their Digimon into the real world. The story takes place in Japan in the near future, when the player must solve different mysteries befalling the Digital World.

Yasuda is the SMT: Devil Survivor guy, and he also did the art for Digimon World Re:Digitize.

It's kind of sad when what is probably a small/mid-sized developer with not-that-big-of-a-budget can make a game that looks like this for a struggling platform, while Pokemon games sell in the millions and look like early PS1 games with framerate problems & other issues (like lack of 3D). Game Freak ain't even trying anymore. -_-;

If the consumers don't care then why should they? :)

I'll buy a Vita for this when this releases. Wondering if I should import it, or download it off of the Japanese store though, since it most likely won't get released here.

Are those bullshots, because they look glorious.

EDIT: MEDIA VISION!!! Can it be true? I've loved everything they've ever made, this should be no exception. Its Namco, so localization chances are pretty good too.

It's also Digimon. The last Digimon game released outside of Japan was World Championship. :(
