Yep. He'll get away with it though, unfortunately.
Yeah, which is pretty sad. You hear JamessMK complain about this shit all the time, with a good chunk of hyperbole attached, but it really is disappointing considering he is an authority and powerful figure in the community.

Yeah... they allow multiple button macros and hardware mods for blinking, but this is over the line? I think either go pure arcade layout or don't. Can't really see how this would not be allowed considering all the other stuff thats fine currently. I'd lean towards just one standard set of controls tho myself.

the mob mentality is still uncalled for. Apparently this dude has been to tournaments before and used this stick before and no one complained, but now that hes winning you want him DQed?

Well in Fchamp's case, he's lost to him on 3 separate occasions so he has to say something

plinking is done all in game, not hardware.

Plinking macro can be done in various ways all done in game.

This mod makes 2 directions pressed at the same time, which is not possible in game.
Then, I really don't see what the big deal is.

actually he didn't. He just said directional buttons

Actually happened.

Wiz said that he called him a dbag for using his name without his permission. I said "So I can't mention you at all unless I clear it with you first? Ok"

Well Mr.Wizard is infamous for banning people on the SRK forum that disagree with him back in the day, so you shouldn't be surprise he would kick you for something so minor.

Plinking with the back button is a common hardware mod that a lot of players e.g. Daigo use all the time tho.

More like "to allow BYOC."

I disagree. Bring your own controller has been great. Fuck stock sanwas and non Happ P360s :)

I bring what I like playing on.

As for this current stuff, I guess they just need to hash out in person. Maybe the player and Larry can talk tomorrow about it in person.

But thats not macroing. You're just moving the select button. You could still do the same thing on a normal stick but it would be in a different location.

Plink dashing is all done in game in marvel.

So a stick with 8 way buttons is broken and bannable. Ban analog sticks. This is just a matter of one button hitting 2 switches.

It sets a precedence. So if you can macro 2 buttons to be pressed, whats stops me from doing more than just 2 buttons? lol

Have we confirmed that it's exactly the same thing though? I thought the select button thing was still only pressing one button at a time. Isn't it crossing a new line to have a button programmed to two simultaneous inputs?

Doesn't a stick have an up-back and up-forward macroswitch? Isn't that macroswitch the equivalent of having a button that serves the same function? We all know that hitboxes are inherently more precise. This would just be a continuation of that.

I believe that the u/b and u/f are just a combination of up/forward and up/back. Its quite different if that is the case.

Yeah maybe I'm confused but I've never considered up-right two inputs. The game does not seem to either, at least in training mode. I can input up-right as a single input via one action on the stick, right? Do we consider the stick itself to be macroing up and right when we tilt it diagonally?

Before today?

It was in the tweet he sent and you can see some data in the link:

so we can be clear this was uploaded quite awhile back now and hasn't been modified since.

Not that this proves anything, just interesting to note

I'm pretty sure there's a separate u/b and u/f switch, no? Or at least certain pads read inputs that way?

@DeAnthrax I don't know. But all I know is the standard Sanwa JLF is 4 microswitches as are all standard arcade levers.

kind of a shame to use a particular style of play for a year only to find out you can't. rules like this should be universal.

but the rules are "whatever top players want", though.

He would've gone on using this for 10 more years if he didn't beat fchamp and neo in a tournament.

He was pretty deceptive in asking if it was legal. He stated that if could map directionals to a button. That answer is still yes. Mapping multiple directions to a button is not.

I apologized on twitter for calling him a dbag.

how do they do this shit for every button though? just put select/back to where jab is and move the other buttons to the right?

Man, that diagram is pretty unambiguous about what he was proposing.

Yeah we still don't have the complete story. Salty suite is deflating from all the talking about Full Schedule and not about the games being played.
