Titanfall boosts Xbox One UK sales by 96%, Tea and Crumpets for all!

It's really hard to gauge, since it's just a WoW increase figure.
Sales might have been shit before that, and typically, weekly sales would go down before a big game release (especially bundled, and with a price cut) as people would wait until that is released.
That's an excellent point. Given the bundle, I can't imagine anyone would have bought an XBO the week before.

week - week sales?
Or almost doubled its total install base in the uk

Cos if week to week 96% is pretty much diddly squat.

haha, some people are excited with this increase and some people are trying to downplay the increase. Quite expected...

Just to put it in perspective.

Wind Waker gave the WiiU a 685% bump in UK and MGS4 on PS3 was 700% in Japan.

So i kind of agree with op, the bump isn't really that big.

96% percent increase from what? Have they ever released any numbers from the UK and is it say a 96% increase from last week sales? Not a lot of information to go on...I don't doubt that Titanfall gave the Xbox One a boost but by how much exactly?

The downplaying begins.

It's downplaying because phrasing it 'a whopping 96%', instantly makes it sound an awful lot. It's called critical thinking, and people are questioning whether it is actually an impactful number or not. And we don't know.

No need to suggest otherwise.

Seems like a low jump which makes me think. Did any retailers do price drop and tasty bundles beforehand which people may have bought instead?

Wonder if the 360 version will outsell it in a few weeks time?

Poor Wii U.
But like Zelda Wind Waker HD increased hardware sales by over 600% man. In this context Titalfall seems like Titansmall...
percentages are draft

Is the UK market still similar in size to the Japanese market? (They seem to have both shrunk pretty significantly since the 2006-2009 days, where I think the UK actually got bigger than Japan for a bit)

I agree, doesn't seem too massive. Especially considering this is the game MS seemed to be banking on to kick start the console, and launch week sales are always going to be higher than what follows. Does anyone have a comparison of XB1 vs PS4 sales for last week? Would be interesting to see the comparison.

Nnnooo that includes previous sales and PC Damn you!!!

Haha, true. But Eurogamer didnt make it so clear if its based on weekley sales. If so, then its a pretty small impact. 94% of 10k sold is still not much, when the competition sells around 30-50k.

double not very much = a bit more for a week or so but still not very much and no-where near enough

Oh no doubt there is actual critical thinking going on. But there's a large element of those who want to interpret the increase as subpar. Those saying it's definitively not very good with not even close to enough information to say that. That's the problem, and it's a rather large-spread one.

Can someone work out how much TF sold based on the comment "more than doubles" the current fifa14 2014 sales. I remember someone on gaf keeping a running total on FIFA.

Wellll there's a bajillion page thread about 20% (or something) of people "deserting Xbox for PlayStation", no reason to think this one should be any different ;-)

Correct to say that we need hard numbers to get a feel for how good this is, but the OP's phrasing is also worthy of comment IMO.

Was it more than double of the YTD sales, or just the week 1 units? If it is more than double the YTD of FIFA then jesus christ.

Either way, we know that the X1 version of the game is by far the highest selling game week-by-week of 2014 so far, so that's quite something.

Percentages mean nothing unless we have hard figures. It could be 96% of a really low number on the previous week for all we know, especially considering people may have held off for the TitanFall bundles.

No hardcore numbers and with the ps4 outselling over there wasn't it 3:1 this means it's still behind average ps4 sales.

Damn it we want numbers!!

In the UK the split was 3:2 from the last known numbers, unless the Xbox One tanked spectacularly in January, it's very possible it maintained that.

Rest of Europe however... yeah...

96% is a good jump no matter how you spin it considering how bad ps4 was outselling the XO. More sales equals more competition which equals better services for the consumer end. I like it.

Chart track always comments on weely variations. It's a weekly news release.
So last week, TF sold more than double what Fifa14 sold that week. Not the whole year.
Otherwise the HW bump would have been 500% or something.

In the past year or so we've had percent sale bumps of upwards of 1000% we know xbox one hasn't been doing to well here hence ms official price cut and retailers slashing it to £349.99 . So given the hype and media blitz I expected it to push sales way above double the previous weeks.

Not surprising considering the price drop and an new game. If it went from say 20k to 40k w/w it's not going to be enough to turn it around unless it sustains that sales growth over time.

Double week to week sales, that's what they track.

That makes far more sense than the running total that guy was talking about, thanks.

You should update that with the OP, it sounds like a far more reasoned argument :)

I'm with you btw, we need hard numbers. 96% sounds good though (it impressed me - perhaps wrongly in the context you've added).

No, whether it is a good jump or not is entirely dependent on the absolute numbers of Xbones sold the week before. The PS4 is very likely still outselling the Xbone.

That's fine, but the lack of context is disconcerting.

Are we talking about selling 1000 the day before Titanfall's release, to 1960 the day after? 100 to 196 is a particular store? Total sales? Are we talking about the day before Titanfall's release? The week before? I don't know what to make of this.

Whatever the total is it might be the first week xbox one outsold ps4 here, as many dtores are just getting stock back in of ps4.
