Use your freaking computer to listen to mp3s man. How did you ever use an mp3 before the ps4

bro that's how I do it now! But I like the fact that if I put a playlist together, I'm in a game of FIFA14 and hit the PS button, I can just press go to the next song or whatever.

Then there's no need for me to hook up my receiver to my PC for music.

i dont even know how to turn that option on, because i like playing the games with their own music

Wait up bro, me too. But some sports/racing/fighting games have horrible music tho.

Great to see some extra share options and the export to USB function, does this really mean we'll be able to take full almost lossless 1080p screen shots?

I hope so, hopefully roughly in time for InFamous.

IIRC the default setting is you click the button and it brings up the share menu while also saving a screenshot/video, holding the share button just takes a screenshot.

There's an option to swap this around so a click takes a screenshot and holding it opens the share menu, but no matter what, going into the share menu automatically takes a screenshot and saves the last 15 minutes of game play. If I save a series of pictures, I would like to be able to share them without creating another screenshot/video.

Hey there Sony, how are you?

I still have to cycle through the HDMI inputs on my TV just to get a blu-ray movie to display from PS4. That's my biggest issue right now. That and we need the option for uncompressed screenshots. Other than that , you guys can do whatever you want.

I think default is one press = screenshot
two press = video
hold = open menu

That sounds more an issue with your TV rather than the PS4.

So I still won't be able to play 3D Blu-Rays, watch a video through the PS4 that I've got on a USB etc.

As a media center, its really really shit.

Sony is saved!

Jokes aside, I can't wait for those other additions. What are you holding back on us, Sony?

And an ETA would be neat. I suspect next month?

I think this should be the general reaction, I mean, with all this recent video/content copyright BS its kind of weird them allowing stuff like non hdcp video and export to USB.

I'm thinking that this update was supposed to come out this week, before Sony's big release, inFamous.

Something must have delayed it, but an update had to go out because it would affect stability/performance of inFamous.

The problem with this attitude is that we're at FW 1.7 and the PS4 is still lacking features that the PS3 has. That's something to not be ok with.

I have mine set so you hold it (share) to take screen cap and double tap it to start recording.

Sweet. This was my biggest complaint about the otherwise awesome share feature. Now if we could get an option to turn off onscreen notifications every time we hit the share button... or at least not have them show up in our screen captures.

I'm pretty sure two presses allows you to manually select the starting point of your recording. If I was home, I'd be able to double check, but I'm pretty confident the default set up is:

Single press = share menu + saving screenshot/vid
Double press = start recording
Hold button = take screenshot

edit:

I have mine set so you hold it (share) to take screen cap and double tap it to start recording.

Yeah that's the alternative option for how the button works. I'm just hoping they add a way to access the sharing menu without the need to take an additional/unnecessary picture/video.

Nice, maybe I will start to record a bit of gameplay here and there after this update! :D Other than that, give me wallpapers and I'm happy for now :)

hope they add archiving to PS4 Streaming with Twitch.

Also why the fuck don't invitation disappear like xbox after so long? I don't need to know about notifications I already looked at...

Ok, I really hope this update contains a fix to the 15 minute share timer because I just missed out on an awesome Ground Zeroes moment because of it. Fucking recorded something from like an hour ago instead of what just happened. And yet the thumbnail is the exact moment I pressed the button... Ugh

So for someone that's never done gameplay footage etc once 1.70 lands if I'm understanding this correctly depending on just how rich the editor is, I can now record gameplay & edit it, put up on YouTube via USB right, so I wouldn't need a capture card, am I understanding this right so far?

Or would just getting an elgato & using something like Sony Vegas still be the better option?

That's correct, you'll be able to use the video editor on the PS4 and then export it to USB, it seems. Then do whatever you want with that video file.

Of course using a capture card and proper editing program would be the better option as it would give you total control over every step in the process and more robust editing.

I'm not here to complain about this FW update but adding that I don't plan to get a PS4 until DLNA is supported.

I'm getting good use out of my PS3 still and don't have room in my media center for two gaming consoles. I use DLNA too often to just give it up.

Hey, maybe you guys could, you know, fix sharing in general?

Every time I actually have an awesome moment I want to share and I find out the buffet stopped an hour ago is pushing me toward not wanting to use the feature at all.

looks like all those tweets to sony worked lol.

Very happy HDCP for games is being turned off, Twitch streaming is being improved to 720p and twitch archiving is being re-enabeled.
