Never even hears of it lol, goes to show how I haven't played a PC game in 15 years!

The only possible situation I can think of that could be causing everything... Would be that Sony is doing a big review of people's performance and seeing where the innovation and quality decisions are coming from. Cleaning out where they are not and then proceeding to give the younger talent a chance to prove themselves.

dude went for a job at riot games. Seems like he upgraded to me. And if the new uncharted never came out I'd be ok with it. It always seemed forced to me, UC4.

Maybe Sony devs liked a challenge with the PS3 selling poorly initially, but now with the PS4 streamrolling the competition they're bored? I dunno.

This can no longer be ignored. This is a serious problem and concern about the state of Sony WWS. What could be happening? From all appearances they have been enjoying success and creative freedom on their projects and have openly talked/bragged about the flexibility.

Can we have a master list of staff walking out on Sony over the past couple months? It's getting way too hard to keep track.

Out of the 100s/1000s of employees at WWS we've had....a handful leave?

As with Irrational, I guess I should be happy I ended up not getting the job. HAHA. Who knows what's going down, but whatever it is I'd want no part of it as a newbie there.

People getting laid off, people leaving.. what the FUCK is going on with all the Sony studios? :(

Well guess what?New people also get hired all the time...but we don't make threads about them unless it's for someone famous like Corrine Yu.

Announcing a new game like just 3 months ago with two leads/director roles attached and publicly revealed, then both of them leave. For anyone saying it's business as usual, well last time something like this happened was Rainbow Six Patriots iirc, yeah normal....

Somewhat troubling with so many executives leaving Sony studios, but new fresh blood could be good for Uncharted and other Studios. As much as I have enjoyed playing Uncharted, the franchise could use some new ideas. I have faith ND will be able to find talented people to fill the spots quickly. After Last of Us and all the positive press ND has gotten this past generation, Im sure they are overwhelmed by resumes of people wanting to work there.

The director of Uncharted leaves to.... Riot Games? Really now?

You guys still want to tell me the sky isn't falling at Sony World Wide Studios? Because it sure as hell looks like it right now.
Riot Games is the most prominent/stable studio in the LA area. Riot is going to suck up most LA game dev talent.

You honestly think Riot is paying more over Naughty Dog?
Absolutely.

I hope this doesn't mean bad news for the outcome of Uncharted 4.

If it gets cancelled, then...I'd be really surprised and there would be disappointment.

So he left a company that endlessly makes third person shooters to a company that will endlessly work on a MOBA. Thats... fun?

Um... Ok...

I haven't played Uncharted 3 so I can't judge of their talent.

Corrinne Yu, Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley are still there though right ?

Dat Druckmann.

Option 1: Create a sequel to The Last of Us.
Option 2: Reboot Jak & Daxter.
Option 3: Create a new IP.

Option 'I'm Neil Druckmann, bitch': Assume control.

Ya, its unfortunate to be losing top talent at once, but are peoplw trying to come up with some conspiracy completely oblivious of how the job market works? People come and go all the time for various reasons. Unless there's some mass exodus its usually never representative of the xompany itself.

B-b-but that key talent!

The game market, no, the job market is a constant flow, and sometimes, people switch lanes. Just because some of the "top tier" talent leaves doesn't mean something going on at the company - as you said, it'd take more than just a few people to dip if there was something shady going on, and that stuff trickles down and affects everyone, not just the people up top.

It's sad, and unfortunate for the timing, but unless something big is happening as the whole, we'll need to see something far more indicative than a select few bouncing out the door, especially when some are on good terms.

Announcing a new game like just 3 months ago with two leads/director roles attached and publicly revealed, then both of them leave. For anyone saying it's business as usual, well last time something like this happened was Rainbow Six Patriots iirc, yeah normal....

Those are two completely different cases. Saying "if you think x is normal, just look at y" still isn't indicative of anything.

Yeah, supposedly it's been in development since they shipped Uncharted 3 in 2011. It's gotta be extremely far along, I can't see these departures affecting it very significantly at this point.

Naughty Dog announced in December of 2013 that they had just got the engine up and running on PS4. It would probably be a little difficult to develop a game without an engine running on the platform that the game is being designed for.

Seems to still be pretty far off.

If anything I see this as a good thing. Bring in new people with new ideas, Uncharted 3 was significantly worse than 2 IMO
