Does this mean that if they do get around to releasing it on XB1 it'll be the 'best version'? Since they basically get more time to work on it instead of having to cram it before the movie
I doubt it. IF they release it on the XB1, they'll just fix it up to the point where it works and ship it out. They are relying of the movie tie-in for sales so the longer they take to get the game to market the less it'll sell. I doubt this game will be big enough to warrant another PR push if the XB1 version becomes available later. That's the beauty of a movie/game tie-in, you can market them both at the same time.
However, if they game gets good word of mouth I suppose that they could release the game around the DVD release of the movie. If that was the case then I would expect the game to be the definitive version.
They confirmed on Twitter that both the PS4 and X1 versions run at 1080p/30fps, its very doubtful that this delay is hardware related.
I'm pretty sure that is what they were targeting, but had to sacrifice too much image quality to hit it with the XB1. For instance pop in or view distance could have been problematic. Also the FPS might have been able to hit 30FPS but dip dangerously low too often during gameplay. They could have been hoping to fix the issues with last minute optimization and a same-day patch, but then finally realized that it just wasn't going to happen.
