I can understand the reasons why they have done it, and am not annoyed really coming as an ex 360 player everything in PS+ is a bonus am getting used to.
However, Sony so seem to have misled a little, saying you could platinum the game infers you will be getting more than they have offered.
I expected to get all the tracks but just say 2 cars...and you had to buy the full game to get lots of cars and maybe more options...
I can understand getting your expectations up too high based on the phrasing though. I just think you should pessimistic as hell about what you get, and I'm glad we're not getting Driveclub: Freemium Edition, or so it seems anyway. Maybe they still let us complete it by buying the other tracks and cars, though that'd still be ahead of implementing stamina or some crap that isn't there in the retail game, especially if the price comes out to be a little cheaper than retail.
Hmm not sure what that's supposed to show tbh. Congrats to me for making the leaderboard I guess?
Also I don't see what the problem with calling it a demo is. I see the free version of Killer Instinct as a demo too. It's a subset of the full game, and if you like what you get to play, then you buy the full version. That's pretty much what a demo is. I don't see why we need to create a special interpretation of it for gaming. There's plenty of demo software giving access to a large amount of the full packages content, but that doesn't stop them being demos either.
It's not that negative a term tbh. In a different thread I was arguing that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zero was not a demo, because it isn't a subset of The Phantom Pain, much like how Case Zero isn't a subset of Dead Rising 2. I bought my PS4 primarily to play DriveClub (and intend to buy the full game regardless), and don't give half a shit about Metal Gear Solid. My points aren't a result of liking or disliking the game I'm referring to. I just think that calling this a demo isn't inaccurate.. which seems to piss a lot of people off.
"Entitlement" is nearly as annoying as "lazy devs." I'll complain all I want over a subscription I pay for. What did they give us instead of this? Contrast. At the end of the day, I'm glad they had the time to go back and work on this because what they showed pre-launch was not ready. Don't tell consumers what they can and cannot be upset about though. It's our money they want, let them deal with some minor complaints.

I'm not too sure actually... I've never played it. Probably not though? As far as I'm aware the prologues are kinda a snapshot of the progress being made towards the next version of the game. So although the content would be similar, it wouldn't be the same. Even the gameplay tends to be somewhat altered right?
Ah ok. No problem then. I was definitely be overly dramatic.. but I wasn't serious with that. I just think it's strange that it being called a demo seems to be such an issue for some people.
I always didn't mean getting banned when I wrote "killed"... that was just more of a suggestion that it's not likely to make you very popular in this topic.
This is way, way less than they initially hyped and I don't see how anyone could claim otherwise with a straight face. Because they were using vague terms such as "few" and "slightly"? Come on now.
I'm actually fine with it being the PS4 freebie in October, provided that they still hand out several PS3 games. I am disappointed though because they made it sound like almost a full game.
Calling it a demo is justified, because that's what it basically is. They give you a piece of a game with the purpose of getting you to buy the whole thing
and to fill the PS+ quota
. That's kind of the definition of a demo. Sure it's a very large demo (because it's on PS+), but there isn't some magical "20 minute sample" limit for demos after which you get promoted to a bonafide game. This is more of a demo than Ground Zeroes, that's for damn sure.
You will still get a free PS4 games for PS+, Driveclub PS+ edition doesn't count as a full game. Hence why it was planned to be free along with Resogun for the first month but then got subbed with contrast
Has Rushy told us something about the pre-order offers they announced last year? Are they still set in stone?
I'm asking because I would like to know if we still get a 50% discount on 1 year of PS+ with a full retail or digital purchase.
5 tracks and 10 cars are more than OK for a free version, I cannot understand all the complains in here. It's "Driveclub Prologue" like everyone expected from the beginning.
I actually think Evolution & Sony for that matter are going about this the right way, I mean if we wish this to be an ongoing franchise then Evo have to make money right? and given the manner in which Sony have been restructuring lately then this isn't a bad deal for anyone customer/dev/pub and were certainly not getting any less than originally announced.
I do think that some amoungst us are becoming a little self entitled with certain expectations though.
The amount of AAA devs going out of business and less taking a risk on new IP and some people blow a gasket at the amount of content? It's quite laughable at times given the state of the industry.

some major meltdowns going on here. I never got the impression they were going to give us anything resembling a full game. Figured it would be a beefy demo or slightly more and we got a beefy demo. I dont see the problem.
EDIT Also figured platinuming would just mean all the changes are speed/some other challenges based. I mean seriouly if you thought they were going to basically give away one of their flagship games for the year for totally free almost well ... i dont really know what to say.
Good. If its **** I wont have to buy it because I get to try it firsthand. Some people are asking for way too much for a PS+ version. Sony should have made KZ or Knack be a PS+ game before this though.

I'm buying the game anyway, so I don't really care what they do with the free version, but they've always said the PS+ edition was stripped down content with the ability to platinum the game. I don't see what's changed here.

Again, I don't think anybody can blame these expectations upon the fever-dreams of gamers. Look at the articles that came out back when this version was first being revealed:
Not unexpected but still super scummy when you go back and read how the PS+ version was promoted to lure in customers of both the console and PS+ subs at launch, a year's worth of delays and what we get is just a glorified demo. Shameful tactics.
I'm interested in DC but not enough to buy the full game unless it has been bumped to 60fps, so the PS+ version was aimed at people like me.
It's a matter of principle really, if Nintendo/Microsoft would have done something similar the angry mobs would be rioting their offices pitchforks in hand, the "rage" is well deserved: it's a matter of principle and something I would have expected old "bully" Sony to employ, not the guys at the helm now. And yes, keeping your promises and customers happy IS part of running a business and make sure that you'll eventually cash in on the goodwill with profits, which is exactly what Sony has been doing since the PSN outage... 'till today I guess.

Then maybe you should inform yourself better and read Evo's past quotes (which incidentally are in the OP... yeah) on the PS+ and what has became if that version's content now.
Here's a crazy idea. Why don't they just give us the full game? We are paying for Playstation Plus aren't we? We still have yet to get a single big retail game free for PS4.

I'm interested in racing games as much as a monkey so this is enough for me tho I'll have to renew my PS+ subscrition because I only got a year out of that Black Friday deal on Amazon.

Who lied?? We were told we would get a game that had full game components minus some tracks & cars, which although it's less cars & tracks than most expected it still seems to be on par with original statement, unless I'm missing something here?

Have they confirmed the platinum is even still possible? If you can't play in 4 of the 5 countries how can you get a platinum? I look forward to finding out this too got changed and being told by the Sony apologists that I am an entitled whiner.
This also means that a demo is taking up a PS+ slot. So instead of a $10 to $15 nice complete indie game, we're getting a fucking demo that should be free. We're going to get the corporate ballwashers saying "you're getting it for free, stop being entitled", or the troglodytes stating that "dem graphics stop complaining".

Well, they did obviously scale back what the PS+ version entailed from their original plans. It's not unexpected that people are disappointed about that.
