Ubisoft: Watch_Dogs will run at 900p on PS4 and 792p on XB1, both at 30fps

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!

What a fucking joke this is!

I sure hope my experience will not be negatively impacted playing this at 1440p@60fps.

It sucks that we PC gamers lose a lot of that "cinematic" feel that is only available on these next-gen systems.

Seriously?

And to think, some of you guys thought the game would run at 1080p 60fps on PS4....
(Edited out dumb picture)

It's not just you, but how exactly has this thread become a "PS4 is doomed!" thread as opposed to to a thread about Watch Dogs? I was irritated enough by this news to get rid of my preorder, but how exactly is this being extrapolated into a bigger problem?

900p (1600x900) is a resolution that actually is the native resolution of some monitors, 792p does not afaik.
That said I don't really understand where the "weird resolution" thing comes from. Many of these resolution have existed somewhere else, we're just now seeing them used in games with this new generation. Nothing weird about that.

I believe those numbers are more related to framebuffer/memory management and not to TV/monitor resolutions.

Hope you have at least 2 780's in SLI if you want a smooth 60 at 1440p maxed out, even then it might not be enough, UbiSoft isn't exactly known for good optimization.

I'm not getting this game for the main reason I've seen so many pre-launch sales on this game and it's fishy. I'm going to wait for reviews first...

1080p is a must for a full priced game, at least on the PS4, so won't get it day 1 but will probably get it when it drops. Which I imagine will be fairly quick.

Hopefully the Cross-Gen thing will die out and then developers will have no excuse to not optimize this gen. I am more interested in Arkham Knight to really show what a multiplatform sandbox game can do this gen.

I'll get it when it's cheap then.

That's actually what I've been thinking for a while; ever since the hype from the first e3 reveal wore off. This would not change if it ran in 1080p at 60 fps, or 4K at 120 fps.

Fools are always so certain of themselves, but wiser men so full of doubts.
A lot of people seem to forget that Ubisoft has a really shit track record with its PC ports.

Hopefully this won't be the case for those on PC though.

Fucked up. Hoping for that 1080p patch then, like ACIV.

Given that Ubisoft had 6 extra months to work on it and it's still only 900p, I wouldn't hold my breath for a patch.

Given how poorly Ubisoft engines run on next gen consoles, this bodes poorly for AC Unity. At E3 Ubisoft will show some AC Unity footage that was pre-rendered on a $4,000 PC and they will pretend it's what will ship on PS4/Xbox. I'm beginning to doubt that they can even hit 720p with AC Unity...

Calm down, buddy.

If a Ubisift game runs poorly on consoles, it's probably not going to be well optimized for PC, guy.

If you have a really beefy rig then you'll be fine, but the vast majority of PC gamers aren't going to be playing the game at 1440p & 60 fps, friend.

I'm as calm as it gets lol.

I think you two need to get those buttocks checked, the pain isn't going to go away, pal.

funny that this was on the official playstation site at one time. such irresponsible misleading marketing.

states...
1920x1080 = 2073600 pixel
60 fps

now...
1600x900 = 1440000 pixels
30fps

maybe a post-release patch is released like a few other games.

but also the 792p on XB1 is the same from titanfall so that number seems to have a significance.
no one noticed my update, i'll post again lol

Lol. The game isn't even that good looking from the little time I have played. Its sad that they couldn't get 1080 on PS4, 900 on XB1. Either incompetence or they are still having growing pains with the new hardware.

His claim was ambiguous. One would be led to believe he is talking about Indie titles because of his position in the company, but he should've specifically mentioned about that instead of boasting on a shot of adrenaline.

Well that's the context I assumed and the context I've always assumed, simply because of what he's involved with. I didn't see any ambiguity in his statement at all. Perhaps people 'wanted' to see ambiguity in order to use those tweets at a later date?

Don't worry, I have a PS4 and love it apart from it gathering dust for long periods of time.

I just meant I originally got the PS4 to play Watch Dogs (as a bundle even), and when the delay was announced hoped it wouldn't be too long. Playing the likes of Resogun and Infamous Second Son at 1080p, I can't really go back now for a next gen game. 1080p is a must for a full priced game, at least on the PS4, so won't get it day 1 but will probably get it when it drops. Which I imagine will be fairly quick.

Just get it on PC if the resolution is that important to you.

This thread is officially no man's land I'm now avoiding any controversial posts in fear of that sweet hammer striking me.

I'll just say that as somebody who has been on both sides of the fence with this game, it officially only has one more chance at redemption and that is if it gets really high aggregate scores.

If I'm going to be buying this game at all, it will be the PC version. I still say the reviews are going to make or break this buying decision for me; I'm super skeptical after hearing about the delay being because the mock reviews were scathing.

Glad someone posted this.

Yeah, he deserves it for the 2 games that are only 900p on PS4.

Get off your high horse, Sony.

I think resolution should be an important part of the overall experience. If the resolution is below expectations them devs should get backlash.

Launch AC4 was 900P then patched to 1080P. If they do the same then that would be ok but to release Watch Dogs later at a lower resolution, that leaves a bad impression on me. They even had a delay for this game, how do you do some much wrong?

Wow, Ubisoft just embarrassed themselves with this. That numbers quote is just amazing.
It also doesn't bode well for the consoles' longevity.

Name an uno soft game for PC of recent that has had a stable consistent framerate.

AC4 was super smooth (and pretty) on my machine, Far Cry 3 was also excellent. Also, you know asking these general questions where the only qualifier is 'stable consistent framerate' is only asking for trouble. Because you'll get responses to this and then you'll add loads more qualifiers in like:

"Well I bet no one with x hardware, would get that"
or
"Well not at max settings!"
or
"Well not many people actually run it at x"

And then you've drifted quite far from your original point.

For the amount of people bringing up the apparently 'awful' Ubisoft PC ports - that often have PC exclusive, high end scalable settings that NVIDIA and Ubisoft themselves suggest are only for enthusiasts - but people still run them on their lower spec rigs and complain "IT'S NOT OPTIMISED!" yet you run these games without the extra bells and whistles and bring it to a more console spec (or even higher still), you get performance typically in line with other games. I'm not saying they don't have issues, but I think they're greatly exaggerated.

For all the apparent issues with Ubisoft games on PC, none of them have been bad enough to make me even think about getting it on consoles.

As a Sony employee not specifically stating what he is talking about, I'd assume ambiguity is present and will take it in a context that he is boasting about the PS4 overall including all games and not just indies.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
I think the team behind WD bit off more then they can chew, 900p@30fps on PS4 is unacceptable, obviously playable and enjoyable and will look OK but still
There are and will be better looking and more ambitious games, that other Ubi game don't look too promising now, unless that team can deliver the goods.
