Ubisoft: Watch_Dogs will run at 900p on PS4 and 792p on XB1, both at 30fps

Disappointing about 900p. Here's hoping for a patch like AC4.

Isn't the only other non 1080p game on PS4, Battlefield 4? Which runs at 60 fps, it was also a launch game and it was developed on 5 different platforms and rushed out before COD. Watch_Dogs had a delay lol.

Haha, what a fucking disaster. Not only does the game now looking nothing at all like the reveal, but also its res/IQ and framerate are now questionable as well...

The significance is that it's not 720p so that MS can save face.

It's not like there aren't 720p games(CoD, MGS, DR3, KI, BF4). It's a weird ass resolution but if MS was somehow strong arming devs into raising it just to save face the other games doesn't make much sense.

Because as Respawn explained it was the highest they could go before it became GPU limited.

If Ryse can manage 900p then most of these games should be able to. It's down to the talent of the developers.

ps4 owners should way more mad about 30 fps than they are about 900p.

I'll be playing on PC and I really doubt it will run well on my 670/3770k. I so wanted this game to be good too.

I suggest some fresh air and a sense of perspective might be beneficial to you then my friend.

Sorry. Kind of bitter after a long ass night at work.

I just find ubi soft the most overrated developer out there. Nearly every single game they have released has been mediocre. Well In my opinion anyway.

Ryse is an extremely linear hack and slash game that runs at 30fps though. You can't really compare it to a 60fps fast-paced multiplayer shooter with large levels that need to be streamed in or an open-world game like Watch Dogs.

I've got a PC that meets recommended requirements and I'm not touching this game until I see a performance thread. Sorry Ubisoft. Fool me once, shame on you...
Yeah, it's why I expressed doubt of jumping to PC being a great idea if you were already planning on PS4 (unless you had some sort of monster PC anyway, in which case... uhh, why were you going for PS4 anyway?), they seem to be kind of rough with PC performance, or have some weird hangups even if they perform better otherwise (shadow issues in ACII, random performance hitches in Far Cry 3.)

And people hoping for 60fps standard this gen are naive, at best we're back to roughly the same amount we had during the PS2/GC/Xbox days... which still means a lot of linear 30fps games, and open world games that struggle to stay at 30. That's going to keep happening until we make such vaults in processing power that they have to start being stupid in regards to AA or something to get under 60, and we'll be jumping to 4k eventually and I have no idea if we'll ever see 120hz standard on TVs. Probably not, unfortunately, at least not in the sense for native 120hz output and not just used for interpolation garbage.
I like to think 792p exists so they can go "Our game is 720p+". So PR reasons is why...
Why that specific number though? There must be some technical quirk to the XB1 to rationalize that.

Watchdog is not 60, its 30fps

so basically if they didnt delay it, it would have been 720p and run at steady 20fps? seems like it... how much was it delayed for, 7 months?

+ there is a huge difference between making an exclusive game in general vs. what's happening here. Ubi is bringing this game to 6 different platforms(well....5 and one later) and has to make sure they're all up to a reasonable standard. They don't get to just cater towards one specific hardware spec and max out accordingly.

Ryse was a narrow corridor brawler; this is an open world game.

Yes. Just a narrow corridor brawler.

Gamers are so jaded and cynical these days. I'm more worried about mission structure and game play with Watch Dogs than 900p/792p or 30fps. I just hope the game delivers a great experience.

It's cool dude, I ain't the multi million dollar corp that just got slated :p
I like Ubisoft personally. Regardless of the thread full of people who built a PC and so now are magically video game developers by extension.

To each their own I suppose :p

Damn. Imagine when the rest of the Bone power is unlocked. That advantage you PS4 owners had in the visuals category, is about to vanish.

Very impressive showing for MS here.

Sony needs to figure something out cause this closing resolution gap and the price drop could mean the tides are about to turn hard.

10/10 would laugh again
this is a joke post right

This game is a trainwreck for ubi. Just cancelled my pre order, will wait for impressions from others before i go near this. Such high hopes too.

I'm not sure they delayed it for technical issues.

It was probably due to content. If the game went against GTAV back in 2013 lacking in content it would have been a bloodbath.

That silly Watch_Dogs advertisement that Sony had to rectify (which advertised 1080p/60fps) now seems even more disingenuous and laughable given how far it was from the truth.

What blow my mind is people actually not buying a game because it's 900p and not 1080p. I thought GAF was a place consisting of hardcore gamers who put gameplay in front of graphics. Reading this thread, I guess not.

Someone explain to me how Second son runs at native 1080p at above 30fps most of the time and looks significantly better than Watch dogs, yet UbI is struggling to run this game at 1080p.

is it due to UbI incompetence as a developer? surely its not because of the game pushing technical boundaries, as Second Son looks miles better and its an open world game.

It's true to an extent for me. The last game I genuinely enjoyed from Ubisoft was
the Sand of Time trilogy and 2008 PoP. Since then it's been a whole lot of
"meh".

Wasn't it ubisoft that complained that last gen lasted too long? Nextgen arrives and they stumble out the gate with watdogs. I can't wait to see what the ps3 and 360 versions look like. Ubisoft is full of it.
