no signs there. Ii ended up making it through. Just had to go slow and take it one at a time.

one on one was fine, but I ended up having 3 aggro on me and it was bad news. Then after Ii cleared it and was going through the path, Ii guess one of them decided to respawn and wreck me from behind.

It's super easy to just aggro a single one. Go to their door, killing the closest statue first.l If you're not in view of the sentinel, he won't charge you. The other statue will make its way to you. Just back towards the room entrance and nothing else will leash your way.

Bring out the Sentinel and, again, just make sure to bring the fight towards the main entrance.

I cleared that room only ever having to fight one enemy at a time.

I am currently getting my ass handed to me by
that big dog/rat thing in doors of pharros. His little dog helpers always toxic me withing seconds, with death following soon after. Is there a trick i am missing?

No special tricks.

Take the little ones out as fast as possible and then keep fighting the big one without lock-on and roll a lot. Try to stay under him.

Realized I can't play online with my offline save, so I'm starting yet again, this time with a strength/faith build. Can't find any good guides for it, anyone know any?

Realized I can't play online with my offline save,

Really?

If you start a character offline you can't play online?

Wierd.

Spiders
in
Brightstone Cove Tseldora
also drop the Bandit Axe. Until then, you'll need to make due with another axe as substitution, I fear.

Sounds good, but yeah that's a while away from where I am
(belfry gargoyles/lost sinner).

Can you join the Company of champions and earn the item rewards after beating all the bosses? Also, can you join a new covenant and the game will return to its default difficulty?

It would seem so. I wanted to play offline to fuck around with cheats a bit after already playing the game a bunch on PS3, but then decided against after a while and thought I'd play it legit online, but couldn't. Could be because of the trainer too I guess, although I'd like to clarify that I never used any permanent cheats (you know, add stats, items etc), only temporary stuff like unbreakable equipment here and there, so online it would have been like any other character. Just saying before someone jumps down my throat.

I did have the trainer opened in the background by accident when I first started DS2 online, so before I get vac banned, I'd like to play str/fth online.

So. Str/fth guides?

Yes

Are you sure you never joined the covenant in Majula on the far cliff?

Yes

You guys weren't kidding about the Gyrm Hammer O_O

Oh and without realizing I completed my old Monster Hunter weapon circle of starting with a sword (Broadsword, Rapier) then moving to a long sword (Uchigatana) and then ending up with a hammer (Gyrm Hammer).

Shrine of Amana is my most hated area of probably any game ever.

So much rage.

That place is a breeze with a bow, plenty of places to hide and shoot from corners from a mile away.

Thought the area was pretty neat as a result lol, only realized it was hated when I went on forums.

Switched my DEX build to a STR build yesterday and would also like to use some magic.

Is it better to go Faith or Intelligence? Which has the better spells for PvE?

Soul Vessel was a stroke of genius, definitely hope they bring it back for Beast's Souls.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind

Guess I'll just go by intuition then, no doubt gonna fuck up a lot of things

Actually I'm not sure if leveling STR up beyond weapon requirements is worth it considering you can buff a lighting weapon with Sunlight Blade. If you're trying to stay within SL150 cap you could possibly just pour the rest into HP and Stamina.

Also maces are bretty good early on so that's something.

and here's a plug for a new DkS2 video I uploaded...

I was trying to build a battlemage type character by starting off with the Sorcerer class. From my experience, Intelligence centric magic isn't very effective until you get more powerful spells later in the game. Those spells have really high requirements too, so unless you have alot of simpleton's spice, the investment you would have to make in intelligence to use useful magic spells will really eat into your other stat investments.

I haven't finished the game yet, but it looks like faith based lighting miracles are MUCH more useful for PVE early on and only get better as the game progresses (not as great for PvP though it seems). With all this being said, I would go with pumping points into faith, and only increase intelligence to meet a base stat requirement for a particular spell you really want to use.

I'm personally at 45 STR and I'm working towards 30 in both the Intelligence and Faith Stats in order so I can use lower level lighting magic and use hexes. Not sure how many points I will need to pump into attunement though.

As a clarification, I'm don't really care about PvP as much so what I'm trying to do will definitely push me beyond SL 150.

So I invested enough into Vitality to equip the Greatswort together with good armor.
Is this: the best I can get in the ultra greatswort class?
I have to say, choosing weapons that are worth upgrading is really difficult for me. Had the bastard sword at +10 and used that a long time and just recently changed to the Greatsword (now +8).

The area after the second bonfire is pure shit. There are a lot of pillars, yes, but based on the way the game places enemies near the fog door, you can SEE them, but you can't DAMAGE them. Strangely enough, they can lock on to you pretty quickly.

Seems like it. It's too ugly for my fashun souls though.

You know, as bad as it is, I feel the same. It's way too ugly to use. Lol

edit:

I've hit a dead spot currently. Not sure which way would be good to go next..

I just killed the ruin sentinels and have bonfires lit at Sinner's rise and Huntsman copse. I've pretty much explored all the other areas that I have access to. Both seem pretty challenging though. Sinner's rise maybe a little less so. I've been getting deep into each and dying. Getting a little tiring. Also haven'killed the gargoyles in Luna Belfry yet. Ran into them once when I wasn't prepared and homeward boned out of there. Which way should I be going? Copse, Sinner's Rise or some other direction I haven't thought of yet. Maybe the well in mejula? I can but that ring and jump down there.

Shot them from a mile away no prob.

By moving forward bit by bit from max distance just one enemy would become visible at a time so I would shoot one arrow and that enemy would run all the way to where I was alone. Rinse and repeat.

If you shoot one when all by the fog gate are visible then there is a good chance all will aggro at once.

EDIT: Maybe you were using a bow with bad range? Was using a Hunters Black Bow at the time.

I think he has a lite version with reduced effects on the page if the PC can't handle it.

Since it's as easy as dropping files in the directory to install and deleting the same files to uninstall, experiments can be done quickly. I tried out a handful of ENBs before settling on this one and while I didn't particularly like Wickfut's earlier attempts (and those of a few others), the new main darker preset really hits the right notes for me. Light where it should be, dark where it should be, good specular highlights on materials and the DoF isn't overdone.

I assume shit'll break in the Shaded Woods, but I haven't made it there yet.

Have you tried this one yet? It's the Pure ENB profile.

Take out the helpers asap wirh range - ideally before the big dog-rat even jumps down. Faith builds get an easy ride on this as there's a spell that negates status effects. Use that before entering the fog gate, pop a few lightning spears then it's basically Sif without a sword, over in 30 seconds.

Faith builds also have Soul Appease which is great for the Vanguard fight, I guess it would work here too on the little ones?

Did you take Huntsman Copse through to the next areas? There is a primal bonfire a few areas through that.

Your options are that through to
yada yada Iron Keep
, jump down the well, or [Shaded Woods/Ruins[/spoiler] which requires an item to remove petrification.

Thanks in advance

All of the one's that were standing by the fog gate ran to me.

Pretty sure one of them was a caster because she kept healing herself while running towards me and being shot with arrows lol.

The other casters in the area didn't run to me though, you are right on that. Was just referring to the fog gate.

no, I lowered the drawbridge in Huntsman Copse, got a little further before death that way. The other way I've made it through the 5 or so agile big sword guys a few times but usually die afterwards again :)

Maybe I should try and finish pushing through that.

The Greatsword appears to be the best UGS weapon you can get early in the game imo. It also ends up being one of the strongest as well.

Just be weary that UGS weapons leave you wide open for counter attacks and it's much harder to break the poise of PvE opponents vs PvP opponents, so I personally suggest to invest alot in STR so that you hit really hard when it counts.

At your point, i did
sinners rise, beat the boss there, and moved on to huntsmens. The belfray gargoyles i didnt come back to fight for a WHILE. They gave me a lot of trouble. Beating them can give you an advantage on the sinners rise boss, but it was an advantage i really didnt need

Im gonna mark this tip separate in case you dont wanna read it, but this really helped me out:
After dying a few times on the sinners rise boss (who isnt that hard as a melee character, i just made dumb mistakes the first few times) i got frustrated with the enemies so after going down the elevator i just BOOKED it straight line through the water, right through the fog door all the way across the bridge. If you are melee, just stay on the left side of the boss.Having a shield and staying close to him on his weapon side leaves him super open often

I have 41 STR (SL 113) and handling and fighting feels almost the same as with the Bastard Sword I had before (slower of course).

Lord have mercy...I get invaded by Gray Spirits every few minutes in Belfry Luna. Once invaded by two damn spirits at the same time who both chopped me down in seconds. C'mon now..

Yup, I also did this area first and handled the
Gargoyles
way later.

And running through
Sinner's Rise
is definitely the way to go.
There are stairs you can climb after running a little ways in to your left which has a ledge you can run on. It lets you drop down right by the exit to the boss area. So it takes just a few seconds to get from the elevator to the boss
.

Pure ENB looks nice. I think I had it installed at one time, but I see he's been updating it.

The GEM-ENB fucks around too much with the colours, imo. Saps the life right out of the game.

Yes. Those jerks. I actually think I have the hang of them now but they are fast. Make one too many mistakes and I'm dead in 2 shots.

I appreciate the tips! Good stuff. I think I'll focus on Sinner's rise. Melee has been a little rough this game. I feel like I might be working harder than spellcasters in a lot of ways. Especially since I'm dual wielding and relying on high AGI and low equipment load and skill dodging. :)

Just from my general experience with it in PvE. I wasn't really staggering very many enemies while using it. The recovery speed of the weapon also guaranteed a free hit on me with most enemies, so like I was saying; you want a high STR investment to get the most out of the weapon in general as you'll often be trading hits with it (thus you want to hit as hard as you can when you do swing). You being at 41STR is pretty much fine at this point. It's all up to your individual preference. The Greatsword is still a really fun weapon to use though. I prefer it over the Bastard Sword personally, but you won't see a huge difference in damage output with it until you get close to +10.
