NPD Sales Results for April 2014 [Up2: XB1/360 hardware, PS4 #1/XB1 #2 best selling]

How is it suspicious this month when they haven't been doing it for years? PS4 has been in the lead every month minus December. There's literally nothing you can read into them not giving numbers out.

I'm sorry, I don't want to go around in circles with you, but not providing numbers and still claiming victory is very suspicious. Just as suspicious as combining console hardware in your quarterly and yearly fiscal reports. This is common sense. Only fanboys would be offended by such obvious logic.

I just want to know the actual numbers. It's not too much to ask. Even though I am a junior member I have been watching GAF for years. I remember the glory days of NPD threads when we got numbers for everything. It was immediately suspicious when Sony hardware dropped off the map, and it happened just as the Wii and the 360 were starting to rival the PS3 in North America.

So I'm sure you can see why I feel as I do.

Not an asshole.
115k is abysmal, then again why buy an Xbox One when you could just by Titanfall on 360. It's literally identical.

This is why i don't like the combined SKU numbers. It doesn't show an accurate picture for individual platform sales. It was better before.

Wow 115K. I was expecting low but not that low... Wow.

Could Wii U actually beat X1 next month with Mario Kart and the Kinectless SKU incoming? Wow, wow, wow, wasn't expecting this low for MS at all. Bring on E3.

It appears that the 360 version carried Titanfall this month (and everything else). Ignoring old gen games, Infamous apparently was the best seller of the month.

? digitally?

unless it means top next gen only software for the month

if so then XO TF and Ghost PS4/XO lower then I expected

Next gen only sales. That'll be why it's not charted alongside cross-gen and cross-plat titles, it's hardly a level playing field when your user base is only about 7 million.

Just how bad is 115K for Xbox One in the month of April, 2014, given that it was the first entire month with TitanFall on the market?

I was thinking If Wii U sales start to pick up very significantly with the release of MK8 and if Nintendo has a really good E3, showing games soon to be released, a price cut, as well as games coming late 2014/early 2015, plus a fantastic Legend of Zelda game for Q3 2015, it might eventually, in the mid-term, even go so far as putting even more pressure on Microsoft, with PS4 high above and Wii U rising, somewhat, from far below.

If thats true than it should be in the charts should it not?

wouldn't have to.. if we are talking single plattform sales it could've very well sold more than the Xbox One version of Titanfall but still fall out of the charts because Titanfall got a huge bump in sales from the 360 release.

Okay I updated the OP a bit.

The PlayStation 4 was the best selling hardware this month, and the Xbox One was the second best selling hardware this month.

So everything besides those two is less than 115K.

Can you do mod magic to get us PS4 numbers? Just tell them you're from GAF and introduce them to your friend George Washington. And his buddy. George Washington.

edit: just to clarify that's a reference.

I don't think so since Mario Kart is coming out at the very end of May. It's basically June. And that's when Microsoft is doing the price cut.

The xbox brand is in the shitter at the moment. May will undoubtedly be much worse.

I feel it has no chance of a comeback this gen, there is nothing that can turn the tides of resentment and disgust for the brand. A distant second place is not good enough, they should consider getting out of the console race.

360:

April 2006 - 295K

April 2007 - 174K

April 2008 - 188K

April 2009 - 175K

April 2010 - 185K

April 2011 - 297K

April 2012 - 236K

April 2013 - 130K

Xbox One:

April 2014 - 115K

Xbox 360 has never managed such a low number for April.

Damn, and chances are May is going to be even worse if enough people wait until June for the price drop.

The Xbox360 was cheaper. I really think that the price is the main problem here.

Yikes @ 3DS numbers then.

PS3 numbers must be pretty damn bad as well. Vita, who knows how low that can go?

No, it's not suspicious. It's Sony's policy. The same one they've had for a long times both in months where they win and loose.

Eh its not all that bad IMO. Certainly not positive. Made worse by the percentage drop from last month. Still not as bad as PS3s first April. I expect May to be worse.

The fact that it's even tracking close to PS3's first april is kind of damning in itself, seeing how that 360/PS3 US sales ratio ended up over the years.
