I know it makes sense, but if their NFC push is stronger on the 3DS then the out-of-the-box NFC enabled Wii U... well, I dunno.

I believe they want to push NFC hard on the 3ds because that has a much bigger userbase and the average age of the demographic is lower on 3ds so there is a bigger chance of little kids wanting those statue's than one wii u. Maybe they are going to add the NFC thing to the next pokemon remake RPG they always had some kind of gimmick with those games. like for example in fr the wireless link in soul silver the pokewalker. so omega ruby nfc???

They have a full "treehouse" for those things... there WILL be wiiu games, even if it is "only" X and Zelda Musou

Well it may be an issue where they are focusing on the WiiU a lot in the direct show, so they feel they need more time to demonstrate whatever this is. The other thing to keep in mind is that the 3ds is not exactly in a good spot either atm, and while the WiiU is unsalvageable at this point, the 3ds has a lot more sales potential both in hardware and software, especially if there is a revision coming as well.

Not trying to start anything or insinuate any wrong-doing but why were only two of the three E3 threads closed? Which makes me ask, why were any of them closed in the fist place?

I'm fairly positive the Sony one is still open, unless that's not a E3 thread even though "E3" is in the title. I don't have any beef with this, but I'm curious.
Edit: that may be a very similar E3 thread to the general Sony E3 thread, that I'm looking at. At the very least I now know why they were closed, there are a ton of E3 threads that are really general and megathread-like.

Nintendo has obtained the rights to mega man and mega man 11 is coming to the 3ds. That's my dream. In reality it will probably be super Mario galaxy for the 3ds. Which is ok with me.

But why would it be for the 3DS when the NFP won't launch until next year on 3DS?

If they're doing an hour and a half on a single game, then it's coming out soon.
If it was for NFC, then it would be focused on the WiiU NFP games that are coming out this year. It would make zero sense to talk that long about a 3DS NFP game that won't be out for a full 12 months.

It would make far far more sense to talk about this in the fall or even next E3, since it will be out around that time, than ignoring the WiiU NFP that is out later this year.

While Majora's Mask seems more likely, Metroid is probably the biggest Nintendo IP that hasn't hit the 3DS yet (or at least, IP that makes sense, Wii ____ on 3DS? Nah). If there is a Metroid announcement - which wouldn't be that surprising given that they have teased it a bit - 3DS seems like the best bet.
From E3? I certainly hope so since Nintendo only has 3(?) 3DS games slated for release after E3.

While a Majora's Mask 3D could still happen, it seems silly to focus an entire developer round table to a remaster. I think it is more likely for a different game from Nintendo.

I have a couple brief questions about this. One, is the 3DS direct (not the SSB one) definitely only about one game? And two, is it likely we won't get the announcement related to this developer direct during the press conference/main digital event itself, i.e. we won't get this announcement until this 3DS direct takes place?

I get the impression that it's going to be about a game that is currently unannounced, not that it won't be announced before the discussion. It seems odd that they would omit the announcement of a game noteworthy enough to get it's own discussion/roundtable at their main event.

They aren't calling it a 3DS Direct, it's just a "discussion"/roundtable with the developers. Like I said above, I doubt there will be any announcements there, just more details on what will probably be their big holiday title for 3DS.
