It's not a Riddick sequel, though. All their games have different gameplay elements. The Darkness didn't have most of that either. I think he's just saying it's as great as Riddick to him in quality, not that it's the same thing.

I'm probably buying this no matter what, but this comment is really off-putting. It's absolutely tragic when a game is really strong initially, but then manages to ruin everything it was doing right in the interest of "keeping things fresh" or in support of some kind of narrative twist.

Completed. I'd rank this right up there with Riddick actually, absolutely amazing game if you like fps games. Let's wait until the 20th when the embargo is over. I'm putting out plenty of videos at that point.
I have one question: was the ending/climax any good?

You can use a VPN to unlock the game early if you're not in PAL Land, yes (see my post here for a full disclosure on the use of VPNs with Steam). The only issue is that unless you're using a VPN service that has no session/time limits then you need to switch to Offline Mode or play the game without Steamworks features as now, even if you're in-game when you return to your usual IP, Steam will pick up on the fact that you're not in a region wherein the game has unlocked and consequently your status will revert back to Online.
Edit: For those who are looking to go the VPN route, I recommend TunnelBear (it didn't work with Steam last I tried, but this was yonks ago and I believe it's no longer the case). Free accounts are limited to 500MB per month, but that's more than enough to just unlock a game (if Steam starts downloading any additional data during the unlock process you can kill the VPN while it does its thing) and there are no session limits.

Alright, thanks. Sound was something that I noticed in the later videos as well, too bad. Was hoping I'd have a reason to turn on my PS4, now I might wait for a better deal on the pc version.

TLOU second half was much better than the second half. And I enjoyed the original dark souls the more the further it went on. (it was recent for me because I just finally got around to beating it.)
Just played through Return to Castle Wolfenstein and am half way through Wolfenstein 2009 to get hype.
Wolfenstein 2009 is actually pretty damn fun. The magical powers are lame and the gunplay is strong enough to stand on it's own. Playing it on PS3 because they removed the game from Steam. The framerate is absolutely atrocious on the PS3 though I have to say. I can't believe you guys put up with this shit for so long haha.

yeah i'm replaying 09 Wolfy, on the Castle level, so good, i dont get stuck this time with the wonky compass either.

Budgets is only one part, some of these big budget games have gone downhill over the years... Riddick was a game With a decent budget but is one of the best games starbreeze will ever do (I love it)...I am posting how I feel after spending 60 dollars on the game that's it...
Oh man good to hear I'm not the only one who found the compass a little...off. Anyway still two thumbs up to Wolfy 2009.

I am really excited for this. Getting the game for $23 at Best Buy is part of the reason I'm excited, but I'm trying to avoid all media, video, etc.
Some games are absolutely worth $60. The real question is who in their right mind spends $20 on a movie? And the answer is the market sets the price.
Oh man, the new impressions in this thread are making me think about just cancelling my pre-order. The last time i even payed full price for a game was Rage and then Valve games before that so i am not big on day one anyways. Hmm, this sucks but if i can get both Watch Dogs and this eventually for less than 40 dollars that would be awesome i guess.
Even if it's worth full price, why pay it when you are guaranteed to get it cheaper if you look around? It's not hard!

Oh my god. I'm done (today at least). Long bossfight without checkpoints and I have no idea what to do. It's not difficult, it's boring and annoying. I couldn't understand the audio message...dialogue was too quiet.

Also, I'm seeing random clips where the AI seems incredibly broken/blind. What is going on with this game? No reviews out yet either. I want to believe in ex-Starbreeze devs (Butcher Bay is probably my fav FPS of the last 10 years (holy shit that game is actually 10 years old already!)), but I'm getting a mixed view on this thing.

Replayed Wolf '09 myself on 360 recently, and yeah - the framerate is shockingly bad sometimes. Especially if you use the Veil powers; the framerate just dies. Still enjoyed it quite a bit regardless.
And I found the 2nd half of Dark Souls, one of my all time favorite games, to be much poorer than the first half. Fact: opinions vary.
You would think, and someone already sneakily alluded to this, that if a developer is fairly confident that they have at least a good game on their hands, they would allow early reviews.
Review embargoes for good games seem to only hurt those games. The embargoes generate hype, sure, but they also make people rethink preorders and generally second guess their decision to spend their hard earned cash on the games.
Bad to below average games? Sure, I understand embargoes for those. But I guess it would be really obvious if only poor games had embargoes.
Not sure what the answer is, but I feel confident that embargoes for quality games do their sales no favors.
This game has puzzles too, some of them are pwetty fun to solve.
The Last of Us, yes; Dark Souls, no.
Everything post-Anor Londo was poor, in my opinion.
If you don't mind me asking, and at the risk of sounding condescending, what's your A/V setup like? You playing this on a nice TV?
