I know, I thought they were making something else.
They are.

Yes, but only a quarter of the studio is working on the game. They are working on other stuff as well.

Were really pleased to announce that SingStar will be coming to PS4 later this year! Not only that but we will be launching a free SingStar app that will transform your smartphone into a microphone. Thats right, no more mics required!
The app works with both PS3 and PS4 versions of SingStar and is compatible with most iOS and Android smartphones and devices. The app will also let you create your own personal playlists.

Yes, yes it is.
Try the new delicious Xperia Z1
singstar has the worst DRM management ever. If they arent going to change gameplay at all (which is sounds like they aren't, ugh) they need to allow purchases to carry over to the PS4.
If that doesn't happen, singstar is dead to me

If you have already bought the track on PS3, and the song is available on PS4 then you wont have to pay again.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-05-21-use-your-phone-as-a-mic-with-singstar-ps4As for the game, it comes in two flavours. One is the disc version - the first new SingStar disc since 2011's 'SingStar: Back To The 80s' - which costs £24.99 and includes 30 songs (expect detail on the new track list at E3 next month). The second is the download version, which is essentially a demo. This is free (you don't need a PlayStation Plus subscription) and includes 10 songs each a minute long.
As is the case now, you can buy songs individually at £1.15 a pop. And the songs are cross-buy, where available. So if you buy a song on PS3 you automatically get it on PS4 - if it's available for that console. Sony is working on licensing as many of the tracks already available on PS3, so hopefully those with a huge catalogue of already purchased songs will be able to carry them over to PS4.
don't worry, bro.
They're working on an AAA PS4 game.

Wouldn't the smartphone as a mic introduce lag or be unreliable? Or would it be the same as with the wireless mics?
Will this be a forced icon on the PS4 OS too?
It's not a free game so no.Will this be a forced icon on the PS4 OS too?
Came to post exactly this. Might actually give it a try at some point if I can just use my phone. The more devs can do stuff like this the better. I have hopes that the dedicated PS app will allow more such integration where it makes sense - not forced. (Though it sounds like this is a separate app altogether.)Never played and probably won't get this, but putting the mic on smartphones is a brilliant move.
I'm so sick of extra accessories, dongles, and attachments.
Yeah that's good thinking. If they market this correctly they could get some of that Wii audience back. They announce this now because they will announce their AAA game at E3.
This is obvious. #4theplayers
Better not have to rebuy songs.
If this is a forced app that gets plastered all over the front screen, I'll be trading the PS4 in
I'm going to ask HQ if we will have to rebuy our ps3 singstar songs or not.

Hey, I just met you,
And this is crazy,
But i'll take over your OS,
So buy me maybe.
