Singstar coming to PS4

Man.....so. This sucks. They don't support ps2/ps3 disc swap like they did with the ps3 singstar? So what this means is that I am losing hundreds of songs by not being able to play my discs. I would gladly buy the songs on the singstore but these songs from the discs just aren't there. They should just cancel this game already if they aren't going to fix this. Yeah, DLC is great, but it wasn't as good as the on disc songs.

Yeah, but this guy seems to actually be a part of the company working on it. So, I don't know.

I'm hoping he's stupid. We'll see at E3.

Me too man! He doesn't sound like he knows what he is talking about.

On top of that, Sony London is the one that has the disc swap PATENT. It's why other games don't use it.

So if they aren't using it, that's double-cruel.

Why do they even need a smartphone app if the PS4 controller has a built-in mic? Seems like deving just to dev. :p

Also, it's sad that a smartphone app easily tops a PS Vita app as a design/project priority for marketing the game.

That was absolutely TERRIBLE. How could they even do this on the PS3 OS to begin with!

It was the cleansing the ps3 community needed with all their blood and guts games and headshot city shooters. God forbid we sing a song and be happy for once. Not in my ps3!

Good stuff.

Sony London Studio is already confirmed as making unannounced PS4 titles in Soho, but a new job posting offers scant new insight into the project.

It follows confirmation that Sony will live-stream the PS4′s Japanese launch event this week.

The Senior Artist job advert calls on a, “highly motivated Senior Artist to join a small, dynamic game development team working on an exciting next generation PS4 title. Get times and details through the link.

“We are looking for a senior artist with next-generation experience, who will not only produce environment and vehicle assets to a superb quality but will also work as a ‘go to’ artist in the art department. You will help to solve the exciting challenges facing the development team.”

The role requirements add that the successful party will assist in, “The creation of environments and vehicle assets to a superb level of quality,” and, “collaborate with the Lead Artist to help deliver the creative vision of the game.”

They will also work, “with the graphics programmers and Lead Artist, help deliver our next-generation lighting solutions.”

Any guesses as to what this is? The mention of vehicles is interesting, certainly.

Hmm. The mention of vehicles is intriguing, and obviously the first thing which sprang to mind was The Getaway. If it is that, I hope it's set in a European city rather than sodding London again.

Edit - I say this as someone who lives about 30 miles outside London. Just think somewhere like Prague or Milan or St. Petersburg would be much more interesting.

Controller has a SPEAKER. Not a microphone.

Sad perhaps, but completely understandable. There's about 8 million Vitas out there, while there's probably upwards of 800 million smartphones. Which hardware would you prioritise?

Audio jack isn't the same as a built-in microphone. Yes it's bundled, but using a phone is more intuitive. And controllers are expensive. Most people probably have ready phones.

This. I put some hardcore bucks into the PS3 Singstar and don't really feel like paying for that again.

My wife has all disc Singtar games and she bought more than 400 songs on Singstar so I think that people who supported the franchise should have a little nice gesture from them.
It's not something they have to do but they really should. It would only made people already enclined to pay for the game and to buy more songs to keep doing it rather than to have the impresion to be fooled and not playing Singstar anymore.
They can make the downloaded songs not playable on PS3 after transfer. That's cheap but I can make the sacrifice so I can play again on my big TV in my living room with friends.

They've set a precedent of supporting it now for literally a decade.

When it goes on sale in October, there are going to be a lot of angry customers.

Is it confirmed F2p because they did announce that new collection of 30 songs.
As for the game, it comes in two flavours. One is the disc version - the first new SingStar disc since 2011's 'SingStar: Back To The 80s' - which costs £24.99 and includes 30 songs (expect detail on the new track list at E3 next month). The second is the download version, which is essentially a demo. This is free (you don't need a PlayStation Plus subscription) and includes 10 songs each a minute long.

All users will have at least one DS4 controller and a mono headset which should be enough for using the mic at least

Buzz and Singstar games using smartphones as the peripherals is a stroke of genius.

Buzz for PS4 with a smartphone app would be awesome.
For people like me it lowers the entry level price and you don't have more plastic stuff lying around.

I wonder if a new Buzz would integrate the camera more btw.

I actually think the "use your smartphone as a microphone"-ability really lowers the bar to try out Singstar.

I mean, right now, there will be lots of people going like "Singstar, you know, it sounds nice... but I've also got to buy all these mics and stuff".

Maybe some of them... Wouldn't keep my hopes up.

The Singstar DRM is horrible.

This guy sucks for shit at answering questions.

Also, yeah, anyone that's tried to move Singstar DLC onto a new console knows how much of a fucking headache it is.

First you call customer service, explain the situation to them.
They then reply saying you can download it from your download list.
Then you explain you're not stupid and Singstar is different.
Then they get their supervisor, come back, explain it's impossible and hang up.
Then you call back, and repeat, until you find someone that knows what the fuck they're doing.
Then you have to wait a week until they're available to be redownloaded again.
