How people can call a game boring based on a 2:00 clip is ridiculous to me.

This isn't the first video we've seen of the game. The gameplay looked sub-par in those videos too. By the laws of transitive relation, well..

The graphics have always looked impressive, though.

Generic as fuck, but god damn it's gorgeous. Hopefully Sony has some better 1st party games out this fall, don't really care for this or DriveClub. :/

I'm surprised Sony made a public demonstration of the game in this current choppy state. Come on, people will rip the game new one even if it's pre-alpha stuff. That's not too smart of them. Let's wait for final code, if the game displays that kind of graphics at a decent and steady framerate (30 fps), I'll be impressed. And if the game is good, I'll be happy.

People complaining about the gameplay, what were you expecting and what did you want?

I was hoping for "next gen" gameplay, and I'm not even sure what that means. I know what doesn't mean: bad guys running out in the open to stand there while you go through a semi-scripted "drag guy into cover" scene and shoot them.

Now that I think about it, I want brutal AI. I want creatures that come at you from all angles and use the shadows to ambush you. I want scripted scenes to be minimal. The best FPS experiences for me are with modes like Terrorist Hunt in Rainbow Six, where the AI is all over the map in limited numbers and you really don't know when and how they will come at you. This makes for endless replayability.

Anyway, I'm not going to write the game off based on a few minutes of gameplay, but my hype is sagging a bit now.

This was excellent. Superb visuals, particles, IQ and animation.

Gunplay and battle traversals was also great, looks to be solid and responsive. Cant wait to see more about world, characters and exploration sections. Also, environment destruction with those "magnetic powers".

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
Yes you do.

Yeah seriously. The premise for this game is super interesting and I agree with the visual tone they've chosen to go for. But in terms of pure excitement and sheer fun, it's perfectly understandable to be raving about SO and not this game.

To put it simply, this game interests me in the "occultism is interesting" kind of way, Sunset Overdrive excites me in the "rocket powered monster truck about to cross the Grand Canyon" kind of way.

The game looks pretty. That's about it.

Hopefully Sony shows off what makes this game unique soon. I would like to see a lot more combat. Most third person shooters feel so lacking because they don't have that punch. They miss that element of moving around an environment carefully and swiftly and having a fucking battle.

I love Gears of War because you feel like an eighteen-wheeler barreling down the highway during traffic headed straight for another eighteen-wheeler aimed right at you. It has the feeling of impact and collision. Shooters, third person shooters especially, are lacking in that respect most of the time.

Hopefully The Order proves to have that impact I want. Hopefully I'll get that out of E3.

Good job Sony.
Instead of uploading it in proper quality to Youtube and maybe providing a HQ download, you streamed it and now the internet is going to be flooded with laggy and teary streamrips.

Seriously calm your tits, everyone got an opinion from a couple of minitus of gameplay.
How can you know its boring ? you havent played the game and almost seen nothing of it ?
I really dont get some people who are so quik to judge.

People are judging based on the footage shown till this date. From what I have seen, gunplay definitely looks sluggish and clunky, and AI hasn't been up to the mark. Won't talk about frame rates considering the shitty quality we have got. Only things that look stunning are graphics and the dark setting.

PEOPLE.

He was purposefully aiming the thermite above the enemies' heads and then igniting it so that the fire would rain down on them. He wasn't missing.

Although the stream was so choppy and terrible it's understandable that some missed that.

Plus the guns seem to have a decent amount of recoil..which is a good thing especially in this setting.

But yeah this was just not the way to do this. Should have released high quality footage of the game directly to the public instead of using twitch for it and make sure they know it's a 'teaser' and nothing more

The chop is from the twitch stream, but I agree they should just release it on Youtube or better yet some other site that doesn't compress to shit.

The choppy state was because of Twitch, not the game.

That weapon makes lots of destruction with lots of particles and shit, love it.

Need to see if there is any gore at all before I get hyped.

For a shooter, I like the technical parts of the gameplay in regards to weapon recoil and enemy hit reaction.

Otherwise it looks really underwhelming outside of visual flair. I think I need to play it to get something out of it.

So much negativity. I couldn't even look at the Twitch comments, they were so ridiculous.

I really think there's no pleasing gamers anymore. They're even super critical about the screen tearing. At this point in development? Really? Come on.

I thought it looked pretty cool.

i don't like that cinematic gaming has become a pejorative because i think there's lots you can do with pacing and linearity, third person shooters are cool and i loved ready at dawn's psp games but all the gameplay snippets seem so lifeless and dull. i felt bored watching those sections.

i really hope they have a killer e3 demo. like uncharted 2 helicopter level stuff.

Notes from this thread:

-omg its a tps. we wanted something thats a tps but isn't a tps.
-screen tearing and low fps are not a result of twitch, instead its RAD's fault.
-gameplay is generic... Because reasons.

Thanks.
The hyperbole shit is once again nearly unbearable...

apparently this is a generic shooter to some.

Enemies running to exact same spot and standing there isn't?

C'mon you guys are the people championing the breadth of indie titles coming to PS4. Is it so much to ask that a game be gorgeous AND fun/creative. This is all they chose to show us and it looks like a prettier version of cover shooter from last gen. Show us something interesting.

To be fair, the screen tearing did seem to be the worst during explosions or other particle-intensive moments. It's hard to chalk that up to Twitch. Hopefully they can sort that out before release, it's not exactly right around the corner.

I think Sony on purpose showing last year footage (Doing infamous KZ upgrade hype). I'm curious how will it be at the moment.

Everything is pointing to this being a mid to late 2015 game.

I do love all the concern about Sony showing their IPs as they are, instead of pulling bullshit like they did with KZ CGI years back. Quick views of real products in their alphas to give people an idea of the direction.

Sometime I don't get GAF. 2 min quick sneak peak of a alpha gets all this concern trolling. 3 min CGI bullshit of the next COD with a B-actor and everyone creams themselves.

I can already tell you who will deliver and who won't.

This is why we can't have nice things.

First of all I really hope you're not calling me out for 'concern trolling' - my post history will show i'm a big fan of TPS and have been championing this game for quite some time. I don't know where this CGI reference is coming from or why you've directed it at me.

It is never a good idea to show off a game running like shit. Ever. It destroys momentum and faith in the public eye and I think the fact RAD seem unaware this footage was releasing speaks volumes. This was a bad call by Sony plain and simple.

The game has potential and visually looks phenomenal, the performance (which is key to a shooter) is awful. I can't remember the last time footage of a major release was shown in this state. Don't defend this, it's not doing any good revealing the game (which already took flak for being in poor shape a few months ago) when it looks like this.

If a game is this far out then perhaps wait on the initial reveal.

It's Sony's own fault for showcasing the game this way.

In fact, I wonder if Sony deliberately chose Twitch in order to obscure whatever graphical inconsistencies or flaws were present in the footage.

I mean, The Order's still pretty far off from release, right? It's common for a game to run at a less-than-ideal framerate and show some screen tearing at this stage of development. Showcasing the game exclusively through Twitch might make some of those flaws less obvious or more easily explained away.

They may also have hoped that a short Twitch stream would prevent people from doing frame-by-frame graphical analyses of the video, though obviously that's going to happen anyway.

They probably put at least some thought into their decision.
