Anyone having issues with Live today? Turned on my xbox.. it signed my account in like it should post account but I have no pins.. no store and no friends showing. Seems on their end.

I haven't gotten an external hdd for my Xbox yet, but I do have one for my tv receiver. Now, it's always on because the receiver also stays on which will be similar to the Xbox. Would there be any problems with external hdds staying on for extended periods of time? The one plugged into my receiver for example is always warm.

same happened to me.. after a few mins I turned my xbox off and on again and it worked.

what I am saying is it is on their end but it doesn't to seem to clear itself up without a reset.

Also I got a 4 TB my book. Moving all my games now. If I need more in the future or a faster drive I will just pop this one open and replace the HDD.

1406 dashboard day 2, problems so far:

- Double games in the "My games & Apps section". CoD: Ghosts appears twice in my list, this wasn't the case before the update.

- With auto sign-in enabled, games still ask you to log-in. This was/is also the case when manually signing-in without Kinect, has been since launch. Disappointed that that is still not fixed, especially since it's now a feature of the OS.

I only had disc-based games in Games and Apps. All my digital shit was missing. Also, auto-sign in wasn't working for me at all. Hard reboot after the initial update boot fixed both issues.

A little late BUT... when this happened to me I just clicked "Sign in" again and everything got fixed. It happened shortly after I updated.

Does your external drive shut off when you put the Xbox to sleep? I have a 4TB My Book and even when my Xbox is in sleep mode it's still running.

Update: Know what, it took some time but the drive finally went to sleep.

Addition to my previous post:

- Just noticed that every time I open the friends app it says that I've got two new followers. Power cycling doesn't fix it.

Power cycled multiple times. The first boot after the update was installed caused some UI glitches like a mysterious fourth tab appearing on the dashboard and the store still having the old layout.
Still no update here...
Even when you manually check? Settings > System > update?

I've only had a couple off bugs recently. Almost every time I go to my friends list it says I've got new followers, but it's not true. It started with one, but now I check my friends list and it says I've got 4 new followers.

Also, when I'm watching tv every time I go to the guide it starts me at the top of my favorites. Not on the channel I'm currently watching.

So one small bug I have seen but it appears I can not move Skylanders Swap Force to the external HDD... anyone else have this game and can test it? Only game so far that simply does not offer me the option to move it.

I don't own the game, but if I had to hazard a guess, does the portal also require USB? Maybe there's an issue with games that run off external storage but still need access to a port, even though there's more on the back?

As a PS4 owner, I am very jealous you guys are getting major updates on a monthly basis. Easily makes the console look more and more appealing as time goes on.

Picked up a USB 3.0 Seagate 2TB 7200 RPM (AC powered) drive today. Installation was quick and easy and started moving some stuff over and comparing loading times between the internal and external. Results I've done today are below:

Assassins Creed IV Black Flag (digital):

Booting to title screen:
Internal 34.8 seconds
External 32.9 seconds

Loading my 83% savegame :
Internal: 20.7 seconds
External: 17.5 seconds

Peggle 2 (digital)

Booting to title screen:
Internal: 23.7 seconds
External: 20.9 seconds

Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes (digital)

Booting to title screen:
Internal: 42.8 seconds
External: 39.9 seconds

I'm gonna test the rest of my games tommorow including Forza 5, Dead Rising 3, FIFA 14, Trials Fusion, Thief and maybe Tomb Raider. Happy to already notice a speed increase. Didn't notice any faster installation though, so that is still disc related. The drive I bought is this one: http://www.seagate.com/gb/en/external-hard-drives/desktop-hard-drives/expansion-hard-drive/

If you want the update now, and don't have to wait, then you can go to settings, device and then download the update from there. Thats what I did.

That was the only thing I could think of as well... it actually acts very odd when I go to manage it.. its a black blank screen. Oh well.. either it is something they missed or it has to stay on my Internal... plenty of space there now anyways :)

EDIT: odd.. now it does not show installed on EITHER hard drives yet the game plays as if it was installed... yep this might be a bug I need to report.

What happens if you delete it? Does it appear under Ready to Install?

I can't tell. Add-ons don't look like they can be "ready to install" without a game installed.
So while you can see add-ons installed without a disc, you can't install them without the disc unless you find it in the marketplace.

And I wish the games and apps were set up differently.
I click on games wanting to manage them, not launch them.

And launching games, even with Kinect auto sign in...still asks for you to sign in.

Just discovered an unannounced new feature. In Settings, under Display & Sound, and then Set up TV & A/V Control, there is a new Device Power Options screen.

From here, if your devices have discrete on and off IR commands, you can change from the Default of 'Toggle' to 'On' or 'Off' commands depending on the situation. My audio receiver has discrete commands but my television does not. This should help until they can implement proper HDMI-CEC.

Edit: Did a code rescan for my television and a new code number was selected with discrete on/off codes. This is now my favorite new feature of the June update.

I couldn't move it last night at all. Tried power cycling, etc... Couldn't pull info on it at all.

Thanks, I swear I looked there but there was Kinect only option.

Logged on today and my achievements were back to staying on screen for like 20 seconds. SO annoying, as it was fixed yesterday.

Anybody else getting this/knows why this happens?

How's the noise on this thing? That and it having to be powered externally are my two biggest considerations when considering a drive.

Edit: Shit, sorry for the double post. Meant to edit the above one!

It's really quiet, about the same as the Xbox One. The aesthetics match the Xbox perfectly though so you can just put it on top of the console. The power thingy is shitty I know, but you'll get the fastest results with a powered one.

this caught my eye, so I tested too.
mind you, only for the external as I already have moved this game without timing it in internal.

the thing is, my drive I think is not 7200rpm, but only 5400rpm. (wd mybook 2tb)

yet, I timed 4 times the "boot to title screen" , and I always get below 30 seconds to "press A" (~26,~27 secs)

but here's the interesting thing: most of the splash screens are skippable, and if I skip them I end up at the same spot (press A prompt) always before 20seconds (16-18secs)

can you double check, and try pressing the A button on the first couple of splash screens too?

I didn't skip any splash screens to avoid any differences in testing internal and external, but I'll give it a try later. Is yours digital or disc version?

oops! disk version. does this play a role?

Possibly an added delay while it spins up and validates the disc.

I think we'll find certain games benefit more from the external than others, and certain aspects of games do too.

Frequently the initial logos/splashes are there to cover background loading and often, despite the loading been done the splashes won't go any faster.

I think the biggest benefits will be realised in areas such as loading levels and the like in single player modes. It won't matter much if you can load a Ryse MP match 40 seconds quicker if your partner can't.
