Battlefield: Hardline officially announced (Visceral, new series, MP/SP, Fall 2014)

Visceral is working on this and not a back-to-the-drawingboard Dead Space 4 without microtransactions, reverted ammo/weapon system and new protagonist?

I hate you EA! /runintoroom

Because Bad Company is more than the singleplayer.

Compare BC2 to BF3.

I've always been in the minority with liking bf3/bf4 more than bc2. the game had some amazing maps but on consoles i just can't stand the gunplay anymore. I have way more fun playing the later games :/

Oh. Yay. Another yearly Battlefield game. Definitely didn't see that one coming.

I guess the fact that it's a new series is slightly promising...right?

I've had more fun and sunk more time into battlefield multi than any other multiplayer game I can remember.

Bring it.

Not entirely hyped about this as it seems like an odd way to do a "battlefield" game. But if done right it could be incredible.

We started talking about different ways we could work together, different ways we could take Battlefield and action games in a new direction.

Is it cynical of me to expect this shit to play like every other "modern warfare" FPS?

Battlefield will be on a three year or every other year cycle when Titanfall 2 is ready. Then it'll be a fall game, so BF doesn't have to.

At the end of the game the death of so many cops in the line of duty causes a real dialog in the Battlefield universe America which results in new effective gun control laws causing the war for the streets to finally be downgraded to a skirmish.

No more Bad Company? =(

I would imagine that would fall on Dice.

Not to OT this thread, but gun control laws will have not have a meaningful effect on street crime. The inherit nature of what they are doing is illegal, so how will that stop them from importing, and using, illegal weapons?

Oh yeah they do look like dude bros, forget the name of the big buff guy, I always remember him as the first guy to trashed the infamous Killzone E3 video

This will be Payday 3 with vehicules. On steroids. Slapped with Battlefield on it so it can sell more easilly. Let's be cautious but also open minded

I was already sold on the multiplayer but now police vs criminals is confirmed, I'm excited for the single player campaign too. Can't be any worse than 3 or 4's campaign.

I don't want to sound like I'm backtracking on the hate and pessimism thing, but if one franchise deserves to cause apprehension and reservation in gamers, it's this one. BF4 was simply unacceptable. As much as I'd love to get hyped, I am keeping it on lock for this game, and not touching it till I'm confident there aren't the mass of game breaking bugs and glitches that have haunted it's predecessor.

Also, all reviews for this game need to be from experiences incurred only on retail servers, and in normal play circumstances. None of this special review event and special review set up business. It is simply misleading and not representative of the final game experience.

I hope journalists consider that before posting reviews.

I was talking more than the gunplay. Map designs, destruction, weapon selection, Army instead Marines, etc.

Well I'm interested at least. It's a spin-off that will most likely have a different feel to it, much like how Bad Company seemed to focus more on infantry combat and focused close quarters with smaller maps, as opposed to the traditional Battlefield's gigantic maps with random clusterfuck bombs going off around control points.

I'm on the same boat. I enjoyed BC2 but I put more time into BF3 and BF4 (I think I only had 30-40 hours in BC2 but I have 100+ in BF3 and BF4). Like I said, it's a lot easier if you just seperate Bad Company and the mainline Battlefield games as a spin-off > main game relationship.

Different developer

As all Battlefield games my sights are set extremely low for campaign mode. Multiplayer could be great though. We'll see if I skip this one like I did BF4, depends on if my friends get it and what other multiplayer titles (Halo 2?) are out then.

I'm curious to see how Visceral is going to handle this. I am not worried they will become a Battlefield sweatshop like most Activision studios. Also Steve P is the man. I hope it is a way more polished Payday. I'll be fine with just that.

Well this sucks... Once again EA in their apparently never ending conquest for total market domination have once again mutated and ruined another franchise in a vain, short-sighted and feeble attempt to compete with Call of Duty.

Annualization of the franchise's games, micro-transactions in $60 games, $15 map packs, season passes disguised as some sort of "Membership". I guess the only other thing left to do is bring on a third developer to help make more yearly releases and switch to a 3-year development cycle.

Christ, EA's marketing, advertising and public relations teams are going to a very difficult time trying to drum up any real excitement and hype for this after the absolute disaster that was Battlefield 4.

It boggles my mind how people can be even remotely excited for this? Sure Visceral's developing it but good god do people have amnesia, Stockholm syndrome or such a short term memory they you can't remember what EA has done to the Battlefield franchise?

It's a cruel joke, BF4's been out 7 months and there's still a multitude of glitches, bugs and inherent problems with the game on a fundamental level, and what do they do? Announce that the game's getting micro-transactions and the next game's coming out...

Well this is awkward... Visceral is making the new Battlefield, and people from Sledgehammer (founded by ex-Visceral) are making the new CoD.

Interesting... Though I will admit at the present moment I'm looking forward to Advanced Warfare more than this, but we will see...

so basically nothing like payday and smaller scale battlefield? since you know, payday was 4 player coop and battlefield games are straight up multiplayer?

Someone mentioned cross gen shackles, I won't lie, if by some weird happenstance the game were to come out on Wii U, I'd buy it out of obligation.

the maps were amazing I give ye that. destruction was way overblown imo, it was fucking awesome but really unbalanced on some maps me thinks. I like the huge weapon selection in bc2 (I'll always miss the 9a-91 though <3) and I could care less about marines vs army vs whatever :p

(I already know you're gonna say something about an-94 not being in bf4 :p)

Make the guns feel like Bc2 guns PLEASE. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but something about the guns in Bc2 felt way better than Bf3/Bf4.

In fact, make this be like Bc2 in every way possible. Smaller maps allowing real destructibility, more focused matches, and get rid of the fucking jets that add nothing to the matches.

As a long time Battlefield fanboy I will say this.

I have absolutely no hype and no hope for this game.

Battlefield 4 just simply sucked all the fun and enjoyment I had for the Battlefield franchise.

Sorry DICE, I love you guys, and I don't blame you, but you can't blame me either, because there is only so much abuse that someone can take before giving up.
