Giant Bomb #8 | It's a Hit!

Brad is definitely a good host. I think a rotating host podcast could be really cool. Jeff has been wanting to try something different, so maybe we'll see it happen. A Roriecast would end up being 2 hours of puppies.

I love this but take Rorie out of the equation. Not very good for a podcast imo. I'd rather have Alexis since he truly gets people talking.

Did something happen to the day 02 and 03 videos of them on the showfloor? I can only find the video for day 01 on their site.

2014 is the year of Brad.

He's finally farmed up and ready to carry.

I'm only 20 minutes or so into the podcast but I already like Brad as the host. Granted it comes hot off the E3 which means they talk more about video games. Still though it's so good.

Brad = Bestest

I really enjoy how Brad's podcast focused heavily on gaming. As mush as I enjoyed the E3 coverage, I really wish there was more time just devoted to the GB crew giving their insights.

The Beastie Boys are the first hip hop group in years to have something to say
They do?

I have never seen one - although most of my trips are midlands towards Dublin/Wicklow

Maybe I have just learned to stop at the right places

Or maybe the West is fucked

In south dublin, both Esso and Topaz (formerly statoil, at least in my area) charge for it. At least, they did the last time I was at either of them. I think a euro for a couple minutes use.

I'm clappin my hands over here!

Even if watching the world cup has taken up a lot of potential GB time this week!

It's Thursday afternoon (evening where I am). So far this week, as best I can tell, there's been a podcast and a live stream of 1,000 Spikes.

I'm asking this not maliciously, but honestly: what the hell are they doing? How can a site (that I'm paying a small amount for) just produce nothing for days at a time? I know last week was a big week but where I work, that doesn't mean we just take the next week off.

Equipment has to get transported back to San Francisco which takes forever apparently, some people decided to take vacation time after E3, two members of the crew are setting up a new office, one of whom is also moving his family across the country. Wouldn't be surprised if all that stuff means they're just writing off the whole week content-wise and spending it on back-end organizational stuff.

It was discussed on their podcast and on the live stream. They didn't get their equipment until (probably) yesterday. Which means they have to set everything up which may take a good chunk of the day. Then they can actually schedule the recording of quicklooks which takes time to do and to setup. Then they can actually record a quicklook or two, which is going to be even more difficult with only Brad and Drew as active content creators in the office. They would likely need to loop in Danny and Rorie, who have their own set of responsibilities obviously to work around.

So you have a scenario where they are only going to be actually creating content MAYBE yesterday but more than like today, and that might not go up until next week anyway based anything else they're working on.

Not maliciously, just ignorantly.

Monday off. Jeff off on holiday until today. Vinny/Alex buying equipment and setting up studio. Tuesday is mostly spent prepping and recording bombcast. Drew is setting up his new mac which is 5 years overdue and unpacking their gear. Jeff no doubt has a ton of prep work to do for the new hire.

I don't think people realise how much time gets sucked out of the day when the 'talent' (editors) are also their own producers, managers and tech crew. Every little job has to be done by one of the guys. Have you guys never worked as part of a small team?

Fucking greg that slacker. I was right all along

Yeah I understand about Vinny and Alex.

They could stop putting up content for a month and some of you guys would be okay with it. I don't know why.

No need to wrap me up in this. The duders put out an astounding amount of content last week and I applaud all of their hard work!

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a little more content than what they've put out this week though, especially if one doesn't necessarily understand their current working situation.

I must say that once you start asking people for money, expectations certainly change. You don't have to dispute every claim that there isn't enough content. Either let the content or Giant Bomb staff speak for itself/themselves.

& it sounds like they're recording a Dead Rising Quick Look as we speak too!

I must be out of the loop. Vinny and Alex are getting an actual office space? Doesn't CBSi have some kind of offices in New York already?

I'm confused.

Has there been any official word, beyond Vinny's original post, on what is happening out in NY?

If they had a legitimate reason for it of course any rational human being would be understanding. If they just up and left for a month of course people would get angry, but you know what they haven't. Instead they're a small team managing several logistical threads after the biggest week in video games and haven't posted some videos yet.

And they know this is a bottleneck too, why else do you think they've been pushing for new hires for so long?

Do you know how silly that sounds?

It only sounds silly if it doesn't explain everything. Fortunately it does!

Last I heard, they were potentially getting an office in the TV guide building. (Seriously.)

I think we are going to get "How to build a bomb NY edition"
