Developers who have never made a bad game

Why are people picking on Naughty Gods? They are the best, leave them alone!!

Might have something to do with their pre Crash Bandicoot days.

Yeah, it's not hard to spot the people who haven't been gaming long. Naughty Dog are the proud owners of one of the absolute worst games ever made.

I get the feeling many aren't even reading the thread. Just hopping in to mention their modern golden boys, skipping over the posts (and there are many) that point out Naughty Dog's less than perfect record.

And then, even worse, we get apologists. WotW doesn't count because it was before they had funding? There were mixed opinions on WotW? The actual fuck?

At this point, one third of the posts in this thread are rebuttals to the claim, and yet they keep coming in. And this isn't even the first time this thread has been made. Every single iteration has the same results. It's like if they keep repeating it, it'll be true.

Apparently OP never played Oni.

It was bad and Bungie is disqualified.

Unless Valve has made a game I don't know of, they haven't made a single bad game... and that's the only company I can think of.

Atlus has never made a bad game ever in the history of the human race. Even aliens, thousands of years from now, will dig up the remains of our lost civilization and be all like, "Holy shit, Atlus never made a bad game ever in the history of the human race."

Ready at Dawn, actually. Daxter is great. Both PSP GoWs were good. So I give them a litlte slack.

Naughty Dog PS1 era and beyond. Crash Bandicoot was a pretty major turning point for them so it's easy to overlook the small-time stuff they made prior to that imo.

I automatically think less of anyone who posts Naughty Dog or "Naughty Gods".

I love Uncharted and TLOU, but The Way of the Warrior is god-awful to the worst degree of god-awfulness.

I'm going to throw in an oddball and say Simogo.

Year Walk
Beat Sneak Bandit
Device 6
Bumpy Road

are all amazing games in multiple and different genres.

I haven't played Kosmo Spin, but it looks to have gotten good reviews.

Platinum Games, but that's an easy answer so I'm also going to say Lobotomy Software. They only made one really awesome game (technically two games since the console and PC versions are completely different) and some ports. But they were damned good ports.

Blizzard would be mine. I've absolutely loved every game of theirs I've played.

Ensemble would be another, although I didn't like Age of Empires III as much as their other games. It wasn't necessarily a bad game though. Age of Empires, Age of Mythology, and Halo Wars were all great.

Riot is another example, but they don't really count since they've only made one game so far. I've put countless hours into League (haven't played since December or so, but I've been feeling the urge again). Really fun game.

Not the biggest Platinum Games fan, but I can say they haven't made any bad games. At worst, an "okay" game. So they come close to fitting the criteria.

Sora, Ltd.

Kojima Productions.

Platinum Games.

Those 3 groups also have very interesting personalities :p

Clover Studios. Small but pretty good lineup of games.

Level-5. Dunno about their past outings but all of the LV5 games I know of are pretty good.

Bungie - never aware of any bad game they made.

HAL labs. Their worst is not even bad.

Intelligent Systems. For those pointing out Sticker Star it is still pretty decent and not even garbage.

EAD - Those who are handling the mainline Mario and Zelda games.

Retro Studios

1. Platinum
2. Nintendo EAD
3. Retro Studios
4. HAL Laboratory
5. CD Projekt RED

Platinum's report card is especially incredible.

Also, EAD Tokyo.

Since folks want a list, here is what EAD Tokyo Group 2 has put out (Group 1 did the Louvre guides and Yoshi Touch and Go, so I am not as certain if they count for this thread):

So yeah, EAD Group 2 seems to have never put out a bad game.

Too much ODST hate in this thread, it's the best Halo campaign after CE!

As for a studio, Remedy was the first one to pop to mind & of course Platinum have been prolific over the last few years (longer if we count Clover).

I'd say Ninja Theory. I don't consider all their games to be brilliant masterpieces (although going solely by the art style, they are) but I wouldn't say any one of them is a bad game so they certainly fit the criteria of this thread. Also, Media Molecule (or did they release anything before the first LBP that I don't know of?).

Lesser known but my vote goes to Truimph Studios: Age Of Wonders 1-3 and Overlord 1 and 2. Not everyones cup of tea and not top tier franchises but I am pretty sure all 5 are at 75+ on metacritic.

Harmonix has never made a bad game.

Ever.

Harmonix was going to be my pick, but excluding "DLC"-style releases a la GH80s, Record Run is their only sub-70 on MC, and it's a 54.

I'll go with Relic Entertainment, I guess? I have no idea about The Outfit, though, so that might skew it, and I don't /think/ CoH Online was officially released, so...

1999 Homeworld
2002 Impossible Creatures
2003 Homeworld 2
2004 Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
2006 The Outfit
2006 Company of Heroes
2009 Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II
2010 Company of Heroes Online
2011 Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
2013 Company of Heroes 2

(I culled expansions to keep the list short.)

SquareSoft

while i havent played every single game from them i just went through their list and havent seen one game that is considered to be very bad
(or is there?)

I vote for Cing, aside from Again which was average all their games were decent and included such gems as Little King's Story, Hotel Dusk, Last Window and Another Code R. I don't know much about Glass Rose and Monster Rancher DS though.

But in general, a 'bad' game is something hard to both define and agree upon.

Vanillaware as well, but honestly I know absolutely nothing about Kumatanchi since it was a niche JP only title, so it could be terrible.

Yes, a couple of their games are average, but I find that Raven Software has put out a consistently decent line of games, to the point where I pretty much know I'll enjoy a new game by them:
