This was Dennis Hopeless quote, so it lacked the creativity of Axel.

And whats up with these Star Wars books. Aaron was deacribing the same exact book in detail that Brian Wood was just writing. At least they already have a replacement lined up after six ussues when the next life changing project comes up.

Marvel seriously couldn't have made those Star Wars books any less compelling. Give me a Jabba ongoing that explores his sexual fetishes other than tying white women up. A comic aout trade embargoes. A pod racing glaxy championships ongoing. Not the same shit we've been getting for ghe past thirty years.
Damn, Rafa's killing it today :D
Same as everyday. Never change, Rafa <3

I have been loving the storyline. It's been satisfying my childhood wanting of being a Marine Biologist.

Yeah I wasn't sure how it would be after Johns left but Parker has been consistently enjoyable on it. The class reunion issue is still probably the best but the rest haven't been too far behind.

Just to try and not scare people away from Lemire's superhero work

Hey, always just a personal opinion man, absolutely going to be a different experience for each individual, and I value your opinion, it just goes to show how people can go different ways on the same material. I just didn't think his strength with the characters came across nearly as well. They were all fairly entertaining plot-wise but I couldn't really feel myself becoming attached to any of the characters, and ultimately didn't feel like stories I would bother reading again. I think it's worth adding for context though, that a) these were by no means bad books, just imo not on the level of his original material (and this perhaps made me judge them harsher) and b) I expect a lot from a superhero book to keep on it, just because I already struggle to fit in what I want to read. I literally only have 3 that I'm following regularly right now, and that is in no way an insinuation that I think there are only three good superhero books out there.

I really feel the art has grown issue to issue also. The colors pop more, Pauls details are better. Parker really gets the character. Mera is awesome and as a married couple, they are awesome.

I feel you man. The secret/real reason behind my post was to try to talk more about Frankenstein, rather than to debate personal taste or anything.

Speaking of, where the fuck is Alberto Ponticelli, man? I think he's doing something for FBP coming up, and that's it?

Hahah, oh yes man ,that should be mentioned; Ponticelli is GLORIOUS on Frankenstein, his range is amazing if you consider that and Unknown Soldier. I had no idea he was doing some FBP.

Also, I love this cover for the issue he's working on (kid Cicero--YESSS):

DUDE.

I finished my 1946 reread this morning and do you REMEMBER how boss that end is? Fucking ROCKET GORILLA VAMPIRE FIGHT???

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

I have a feeling some might label it too house style but yeah, the detail in the panels is pretty impressive, anyone working on an Aquaman book has a higher effort per page count quotient, I feel like.

I really like the design for Chimera. It may be a little typical sea monster, but that attention to details, and the creepy factor is just sublime.

Those two guards faces. Ughnngghh.

And yeah, when you have a power couple who are on equal levels you can do some impressive storytelling without sacrificing either of the characters. It's when the power structure is so different that I feel problems arise; Aquaman/Mera is so much easier to work with than Superman/Lois or Spiderman/MJ

Had me at Rocket Gorilla. Lost me at Vampire.

Good try, Birdie.

That one is great man, by Dysart as well isn't it? Always hoped he'd come back and do more. I love how that book starts out as an out and out creepy read then just devolves into madness. Tempted to read Outcast after the impression Azaceta left on me with that book, but Kirkman, unsure.

Have you went further with the 40s books? I really liked 47, like alot, then I enjoooyed 48 but it takes quite a tangent from
Anders
but then BPRd Vampire, holy shit,
that magical bear steed haha
. I can't wait to see where that line goes, seems like Vampire was a whole new start for that story, trade had a volume 1 on it.

Haha, but the way they do vampires in the hellboy world is so good. So unsparkly

That's so awesome man, I need to check that out. Yet to check FBP out, might have to stick volume 1 on my upcoming purchases. I know Rodriguez is leaving, if Ponticelli replaces him full time, guh.

Yeah, I've read all of them, but not in my reread yet.

huh, i was gonna post a pic of all the stuff i bought at SDCC last night, but i knocked the hell out.

I'm no Bii with the camera quality, unfortunately (btw, excellent SDCC pics, Bii)

let's see, we got:

- a 5 minute Judge Dredd sketch by Chris Burnham, slightly better quality here
- a limited Seconds print
- Heck, by Zander Cannon
- You Have Killed Me HC, by Jamie S. Rich and Joelle Jones
- Judge Dredd Case Files Vol 3 - they were sold out of #2, and the dude at the 2000 AD recommended #3
- Dredd Underbelly - the sequel to the movie
- Tech Jacket Vol. 2 TP
- a set of Wayward postcards, for the new series by Jim Zub and Steven Cummings
- a free John Cena Slam City minifig that my friend got
- a signing card from WWE Superstar Big E
- a rolled up Mega 64 poster for a friend

Messi every time you post now all I think about is how you have never seen Star Wars. Please just go watch it.

What if he watches it and then says it's bad. you know, especially Episode IV-VI, but Jar Jar Binks was funny!
Nobody could ever trust his judgement again.

I looked it up on Amazon just now. Not even good for a laugh?

Only if in that quest for laughter you want your IQ to drop by like 20 points.

Hahaha true.
You know, somewhere in that mess Adams had a good story idea I think. He just needed to have someone else write it...

Absolutely, I think there's a couple problems there. If I recall he was kind of using it as a voice for his Expanding Earth crazymadeupsciencebullshit. Plus he's surrounded by people who basically just feed his ego. He's working on so many projects at once too, probably doesn't help.

Dude is still a fantastic artist, but crazy, BAT SHIT fucking crazy.

Where did you find Chris Burnham? I'm thinking I want a sketch from him the next time he's at a con that I'm attending.

Kipp

but I am taking tiny steps forward
IMO his mainstream cape stuff is very average (maybe GA is better but I fell off after a few issues) but his creator owned stuff is among the best of its kind. Personally I love his art, but I grew up with people like Quentin Blake on Roald Dahl novels so it's in that same scratchy wheelhouse.

Good to know.
And yeah, I love that rough/scratchy type of art too (also grew up reading Roald Dahl), so I'm sure I'd dig it.

It's a good time to discover Lemire though Kipp, if you end up liking him. He has two new series coming next year, Black Hammer & Descender that's he writing and a graphic novel, Roughneck, that he's writing and drawing himself. Got Trillium down in my next order off amazon, can't wait.

Oh, yes! I'm so excited for Black Hammer. The premise sounds brilliant.

How much was that drawing tab, Kipp?

I got this one (which I did a bit of researching on, and supposedly it's much better than the sub-$100 Wacoms) for $40 from Amazon Warehouse, and it's in perfect condition, so that was a total steal. Even new from Amazon it's only $45 though. It's totally worth it. It's everything you could possibly need and it's a much bigger surface area than the cheaper Wacoms.

I like to believe that no one trusts my judgement anyway. I've missed the boat on Star Wars. You guys loved it when you were kids. I can't watch old movies.

Other than that Duella Dent is my new jam.

Good to know.

Schway. I need to see if it will work on my surface though....

These SDCC posts are making me really excited to probably go to Long Beach Comic Con in September.
I mostly just really don't want to drive to LA.
Psst, ReAxion, wanna carpool?

Also, just checking out the LBCC ticket prices and noticed that you can get a Professional Pass to get into the Con for free if you have a "web comic with your name in the credits." Hehehe...
But in all seriousness, not sure what I was expecting the prices to be, but $20 for a Sunday pass is super cheap.

So cool! Nice pickup(s)!

Schway. I need to see if it will work on my surface though....

If you start making webcomics, I will be so happy. You're gonna turn the webcomics world upside down.

Oh the book is completely bat shit insane, especially with all the underworld stuff and mind boggling inane dialog. However, KoruptData is probably the biggest (or at least most vocal) Bat fan here and I'd love to see his impressions of it. Hell, he found redeeming qualities in the steaming pile that is All-Star Batman.

So, finally, I finished Locke & Key. Now I am kinda sad. In that short timespan I grew really fond of/attached to those characters and the world they inhabit. Is there any talk of more L&K? There are so many more stories to be told I guess.

What do you mean "again"? When did we start?
Weeeeell....

With his Walmart work ethic he'll be pumping out 24 strips a day. He'll make more comics in a week than Warren Ellis did in the last six years.

I must've missed that, which is a shame because I'd really like to read Korupt's thoughts on the book, even though I have not read it.
