Since this thread has become an AC plot thread essentially... remember at the end of brotherhood when Juno told Desmond to find Eve?
The fuck happened to that plot point?
Yeah it fucking sucks Connor is getting the shaft because people didn't like him.
Is AC: Liberation any good? I'm in the mood for some AC and it's the only one I haven't played.

How about what the hell happened to any of the plot points that Clay/Subject 16 was rambling on about in AC2&Brotherhood only to be dropped in ACR?
"Fuck it all!" - Ubisoft 2011
It makes me wonder how Altair's character was received when the first game came out.
Yes, it's good, and if you're in the mood for AC it will definitely scratch that itch really well.
The fact they keep dropping plot points in AC is so fucking frustrating. Just make it like Zelda and have a timeline without some thing trying to connect all the games together.
They would be so much better without the animus or the modern day stuff.
heard it's mediocre. everyone told me to play the HD remaster over the Vita one because of controls and framerate. i might just play my Vita copy first and see if it's really that bad technically.
Will Connor's story ever be finished?

So after Unity and Rouge, the russian dude is next?
Connor and Shao are the only ones whos stories haven't been finished yet. Shao was name dropped in both AC3 and 4, so hopefully we get a game with her as the main character.
But Altaïr wasn't boring. He actually had character progression and a personality that wasn't renascent of a pile of stones. It makes me wonder how Altair's character was received when the first game came out.
Aa, this and Rayman are the only Ubisoft franchises I play. Which of other games' defining feature are they implementing into this?Jesus, mechanic-wise all of Ubisofts games are slowly but surely converging into a single entity.
All of their franchises keep getting the more of the defining features from their other franchises.
I think Connor would be better received if he's not so intense all the time. It gets exhausting sometimes. I like his "downtime" self during the Homestead missions. But Altaïr wasn't boring. He actually had character progression and a personality that wasn't renascent of a pile of stones.
Don't even joke, bro.It'll be released....on 3DS. :3
I liked how he is. I liked that he didn't let anyone weasel out of anything and call their asses out on their bullshit. One of the best things about Connor is the perspective he offers us. The game could've easily been about some colonial dude who knows he has to fight for freedom without question and gets it in the end. Here, we have a hardened guy who continues to lose everything. But Altaïr wasn't boring. He actually had character progression and a personality that wasn't renascent of a pile of stones.
Though admittedly ACIII being the mess that it is certainly didn't help people come around to Connor either.
Homestead missions were fantasic for expanding Connor's character more. They're easily my favorite missions in the game as he builds his own little America and helps people get married lol.I think Connor would be better received if he's not so intense all the time. Was reading through the new GI magazine and their story on AC Unity and it added some things I didn't know, so I figured a recap thread might be good. Mods, lock if not allowed.
- Been in development since 2010. After Brotherhood a team broke off and started on Unity.
- Skill leveling is in, and you can choose to drop points in stealth, combat, or navigation. You could potentially make a tank who is awesome at fighting, or a better stealth player.
- You can now customize your legs, boots, forearms, chest, hood, and mask. And the armor/clothing has attributes like a hood that makes you blend faster in crowds and a belt that allows you to hold more items.
- Co-op missions can be done solo as well and have multiple difficulties. You can also explore the whole world in co-op
- They realized that with the multiplayer in the last games they were essentially making two separate games, and they didn't want to do that. They noted that people buy the game for the campaign and the added-on multiplayer wasn't the same experience, so they went back to the drawing board to get co-op in.
- They are using a similar technique as Watch Dogs for co-op, in your game you are always Arno, and everyone else looks like other brotherhood members, but in their game they are Arno and you look like a brotherhood member (like how you are always Aiden in Watch Dogs).
- NO MORE AUTO-FAIL MISSIONS! The missions now adapt to what happens when you play and don't follow any script. There will be changes and consequences for how you handle missions, but no longer will you get desynchronized for being spotted.
- You use the new rapid descend ability from buildings by hitting RT + B. Haystacks still exist, but they found you don't use them near as often now.
- The interiors really open up the game. You can run into a building to hide from guards, but there may be guards inside too. You can also use interiors for assassinations, hiding in windows, etc.
- You really notice the new 1:1 scale for buildings, and the amount of buildings on the streets seems higher than any of the other games.
- Stealth mode softens your footsteps, but you still move rapidly. Great for sneaking up on guards.
- New cover system makes hiding easier and you can now peek.
- Guards no longer automatically know where you are at all times once alerted, they will now search your last known location which makes it easier to get away and even flank them.
- Combat is now harder. You may be able to beat 2-3 guys but 5 is too many. You have to pay attention to what weapons enemies have now. "For the first time, we have boss fights that are about parrying at the right time, making sure you dodge, and not spamming the attack button."
- The NPC groups now react to each other. Thugs may attack you on sight, but guards/police won't unless provoked. Police may go after thugs, which means you can lure thugs to police and watch the police go after them.
- They are starting a "new cycle" with the present day stuff. "You are the protagonist ultimately." You will understand in the first 20 minutes of the game where they are going with it. It's "cool" and "very, very surprising."
- There can be up to 30,000 people in a crowd.
There is a lot of good info in the article, go check it out in the new Game Informer.
All I remember is everyone hated his voice.
His voice in Revelations was much better in my opinion.Yea, It was a pretty flat performance.

Yeah, the VA for the first game was arabic, but they told him not to use his accent. What a waste. His voice in Revelations was much better in my opinion.
It was cool to finally see him putting the pieces back together in his head by the end, but yeah, he's a douche and it's essentially his fall from grace story. He wasn't received well. He came across as kind of an arrogant dick in the beginning and, though that was the point of the intro, he has so little character after that it still remains the most memorable thing about him. So basically he was kind of a bland, boring, blank slate who's only real character trait was that he was kind of a dick at one point. People were super happy when it became obvious that Ezio was going to have an actual personality.

Ezio on the other hand, for me, was better in Brohood and Revelations. I dunno why I couldn't get into his character in II.
I'm actually really excited for this one. I think the premise of Rogue sounds more interesting but I can't ignore the updates in this one. Will probably buy both :3

Ezio really was the best protagonist thus far. I did like Connor, but I felt like Ubi gutted some of the more interesting stuff from his story and screwed around with the pacing, which makes him look worse than he is. Altair's okay too, but he has a terrible VA in the first game, but Revelations has a great capper for his tale. Edward came off as kind of a selfish twat. I can see that they were trying to make him more charming, but I never warmed up to him. Heytham was interesting. Adewale was decent. I haven't played Liberation.
I have high hopes for Arno.
Have they confirmed if they will include a French language option? I'm currently learning the language and this is set in Paris after all.
Let me choose French voice-acting with English subtitles please.
Ezio is a fucking sociopath. He was good in ACII and Brotherhood, but turned into a psycho during Revelations.
Is AC: Liberation any good? I'm in the mood for some AC and it's the only one I haven't played.
LibHD is fairly short for an AssCreed game. After 15 hours I was only a few chapters from the end before I made the mistake of trusting GSM to back up my save. The only reason I haven't made an effort to finish it since is that it's also fairly boring for an AssCreed game -- the setting is architecturally and aesthetically lacking, the world small and sparsely populated, and while the dress/outfit mechanic could have been interesting, Ubi saw fit to hold players' hands by forcing certain outfits during missions instead of leaving it up to player experimentation and designing the missions around this element.

Are you talking about the more murderous methods of killing during combat in Revelations? That's pretty easy to understand why. Look at the progression from ACII-Revelations.
In ACII he's a novice, his moves are pretty standard.
In Brotherhood, his moves are much flashier, for example the way he uses his pistol or counters enemies.
In Revelations, the man is tired of it. That's what the game is about in terms of his character progression. He's done it all and is just taking a solo journey to get some questions answered he had lingering for awhile. Combat-wise, it's no wonder he just goes straight for the kill, however brutal it is. Ezio just wants to end it and move on.
But those damn Janissaries.
Yea, fuck ships. It's in Rogue, and should stay there. That boat shit is not welcome.
Ezio is the best Assassin so far, period. Beats everyone else by a mile.
Altair was wood.
Really looking forward to this.
It's not the combat, but his actions.
His selfish acts gets the entire Assassin order in Istanbul killed. He also destroys that cave-city and subsequently kills hundreds if not thousands of people by setting it ablaze. If not dead they're homeless. And for what? To capture one templar who, as it turns out, isn't even the man Ezio was looking for in the first place.
Which is why I really hate Revelations. There's no "revelation" to be found anywhere, and instead a previously smart and capable guy turns into this murderous lunatic.

I really liked Connor. I think if you don't bother with most of the Homestead stuff, he kind of just comes across as constantly pissed and confrontational, but I played all of them and they really highlight how he is with "normal" people and the "lighter" side of him. The Homestead stuff was probably my favorite part about AC3.
Brand new video full of alpha and prototype game footage, apologies if already posted:

Thread worthy? Someone make one
He spends most of the game with hypocrites and liars, calls them out on their bullshit, and then gets criticized for being stubborn and pissy. Like what? Not to mention he's essentially a kid throughout the whole game, and people expect him to be all knowing and perfect. People don't want video game protagonists to be believable, they want perfect persona's they as the player can latch onto in order to fulfill some player fantasy, which Ezio is the embodiment of. It's a shame the storytelling is so disjointed, otherwise I feel Connor would be a more liked character.
