There's a difference between salt, and genuine disappointment from fans that have been there since day 1 in 1996

There's a huge difference, and salt and genuine disappointment both exist on this thread. There's no denying that. But to say there's no salt is humorous.

Well Nintendo isn't exactly involved developing Bayonetta 2 either, they are funding it.

Is that a money a hat as well?
No, because SEGA made it pretty clear that they had no interest in a Bayo 2, which is understanding seeing as 1 underperformed.
Nintendo is literally the only reason Bayo 2 is coming out; a TR sequel would've been made with or without Microsoft's help.

Compelling proof that Microsoft has their ears to the streets and are closely monitoring anything negative that is said.

When more of us have PC's and PS4's it would kind of add up but there's nothing saying XB only consumers won't be interested. It's nice to see that it will be coming but my interest was already almost non existent but if it's at least coming down the line, I have at least a thread of interest.

I was replying about the publishing. It doesn't say MS or SE anymore.

Ya'll throwing shade at Keighley need to fucking get lost. He's trying to get more details, chill out.

Yeah, fair's fair, here: I was somewhat dickish in my first response to his tweets, but I was regarding that as his final word and that's wrong; he's certainly doing some work to try to get explicit straight answers.

And indeed, it could perhaps be construed that the fact that he's having difficulty getting explicit straight answers suggests that something's up.

I can't believe people raging over a distant sequel for a mediocre game being X1 exclusive.

MS needed an adventure TPS and it was cheaper to buy some exclusivity for Tomb Raider. It's an established brand and a not too bad game.

people are mad because Tomb Raider has been a multiplatform series for some time now and it just became exclusive?

I don't get it. They've jumped console platforms with gusto since leaving Nintendo for Sony and then hopping in bed with Nintendo again for exclusives like Dragon Quest IX and X and Crystal Chronicles.

This exclusivity move is not outside of their scope and their fans should he used to it by now.

Except you're talking about SE's history, we're talking about Crystal Dynamics, originally through Eidos I believe. It's a bit different if you're a Tomb Raider fan.

Microsoft also published Ninja Gaiden 2 for the 360 and that did not stop Namco from releasing it on the PS3 the year after.

And the way it was worded make it sound like a timed exclusive.

Man like dude, they should be like in it for like, the fans maaaaaaaaaaan. for the love of the art maaaaaaaaaan.

Seriously though, what else would they work for?

Probably making more money by releasing their games on platforms with bigger install bases. They either got a lot of money or are just very loyal to Xbox.

you think they just announce this and go to bed? of course they're watching the media / public reaction. It's conclusive proof that there's people at MS who have as much of an idea of what's going on as we do.

My father is a big, big Tomb Raider fan and I would've loved to play the game with him.

Well, if they don't want my money then I guess that's that.

And the whole "you have Tomb Raider Osiris" is even more a slap in the face.

Could you be any more biased? It's all about the money, maaaaaaan.

I'm not biased at all I own both systems. Of course this is about the money. You just asked for instances when it might not be because a platform holder paid for the game to be exclusive. The Smurfs Dance Party was released only on the Wii. I wouldn't think that was because the publisher of that game got money hatted. I think they figured only the Wii audience would buy it. That is clearly not the case with this game and I wasn't trying to suggest it was.

Greenberg didn't say "it's exclusive for the lifetime of the title," he just said "no, here's what we said" and linked to a marginally different phrase.
Deception is like one of the main points of times exclusives, lol.

All their shifty actions/cagey wordings are such a pain to follow. I understand that they obviously have a job to do but uggghh.

It's crazy how the messaging is though isn't it? At first it even says MS published and now it's magically gone and Geoff has to basically pry folks for what should be basic information. With other PC or PS4 games, at least we know if it's a timed exclusive or not fairly soon. This is just ridiculous.

I don't mind exclusives, but I do mind it when a multiplatform games sequel goes exclusive. This is extremely shitty even if I'm not personally all that interested in this specific game.

Agreed. I hate it when something is multi-plat THEN goes exclusive. It's a kick in the balls too because I REALLY enjoyed the new Tomb Raider and was looking forward to the next one.

Looks like I'll be skipping this one. =\

From all the evidence, it seems like a timed exclusive. Microsoft isnt publishing it. The blog and people saying its exclusive to xbox for holiday 2015. People just have to wait a year or 6 months.

I hate everyone who claps for exclusives, they are bad for the consumer.

That being said, good move by Microsoft. I enjoyed the last Tomb Raider more than the Uncharted games. I haven't purchased either next generation console, but maybe I'd get a XBox One now? At the same time I'm very content with my beast PC and a Wii U.

1) This is a good exclusive to get in that it can help MS in Europe where they've been struggling.
2) TR + Halo sets them up for a decent holiday in 2015 in the US.
3) Both MS and Sony have moneyhatted before and targeted series that were multiplatform or exclusive to other consoles. I can understand disappointment but all the vitriol is ironic although entertaining.

If its a timed exclusive, the real problem is on the wording MS chose. Timed exclusivity deals should be referred as 'first on'. Otherwise is deceiving the consumer.

Well, while they didn't say 'first on', they *did* phrase the announcement with great care such that it wasn't clear whether the article that 'exclusively' was referring to was the *platform* or the *year*.

In other words - if it is indeed timed - stating the absolute truth yet in an ambiguous enough way that it's easy for the casual listener to misconstrue it as totally exclusive.

I think MS has terrible PR. These guys said if you did not like the Xbox One, you can buy a 360. The Osiris thing reminds me of that event.

Either Microsoft overpaid for the exclusive rights or SE are idiots.

I think it is the problem they use exclusivity, regardless if it is life-time or timed.

So a timed exclusive for a mediocre game? I don't see the big deal, they will lose a lot of sales though, that's for sure. Can't imagine people actually buying a console for this game lol.
