Or even Megaman 1/2, those games would never make it past focus groups nowadays. Maybe rightfully so, but the point is that most of us (and even gamers that are a little younger) have had far more difficult games to play in our youth.



I don't think the games are easy by any means, nor did I mean to state that. The point is, the amount of time we spend talking about the Souls' series difficulty is disproportionate to how difficult it actually is, and deters a lot of gamers that would probably be quite good at it.

The games don't hold your hand, require you to think, and expect a little patience; doesn't mean that they are only accessible to "hardcore" players, and unfortunately a lot of players see it as a "hardcore" game and are intimidated by it, and Dan is an example of that.
I have to agree with this statement. The souls games difficulty is really overblown. The older NES/SNES, and even some games on the PS1 and 2 are more difficult than the souls games. It doesn't stop them from being awesome though. I also love how one mistake can kill you.

That's sorta false for Demon's Souls. If you play online right as I type this, From Software has it set on Pure White World Tendency for all worlds, which makes all enemies the esiest possible. If you start your character offline, they are set to neutral WT, which makes it much harder.

And of course, there's Pure Black WT.

Yeah but you cannot change the difficulty, unless you play a certain way, other than that you cannot go into a setting menu or set the difficulty when you begin the game.

Will there be any new footage? I remember hearing IGN was going to attend a 1 hour demo of the game.

God damn, I wouldn't care if it barely looked a tad bit better than DS2 to be honest. I'm going to love the hell out of this game and it's going to look amazing to boot? Too good, man, too good.

Jesus fucking Christ, im gonna pretend that this some prequel of the Black Swordsman arc of Berserk, someone needs to make some mods to make exactly like it, just make Gutz playable and throw some naked lolis and baby you've got a stew going.

I can't remember the last time I was this hyped for a game. Maybe when I was waiting for Ocarina of Time? That's the last time I can remember ever being this hyped. This is the king of all hypes for me. Every inch of this game looks like it was made to fit my tastes. I have not seen a single objectionable thing to any element of this game.

I'll be Day 1 for this, and I haven't even purchased DS2 yet and only half way through DS1.
 
This looks incredibly good artistically. I thought the Souls games had excellent art direction, but Bloodborne takes it to a whole new level. Just phenomenal. Visually and atmospherically, this looks like a mixture of Demon's Souls, Castlevania and Resident Evil.

Hopefully the final release will have better AA. It's a little unfortunate they're only targeting 1080p30...but if they can get the framerate at a rock solid 30fps then I can live with that.

i feel like this system can be abused too easily, everytime you get hit just hit back at least 1 time or 2, rinse and repeat
unless they make the enemies hit really hard, this can be game breaking
but i guess this makes sense with the blood lore thing

Also NG+ increases the difficulty by approx 40% up to a max of 122% at NG7+

Doesn't seem particularly game breaking when compared to parry in DS/DKS power stance in DKS2 anyway. Seeing the faster movement options, if you are used to the souls series game play you will likely not need it anyway.
