I think there is more to it.

This is actually a pretty good find.

So what can we infer from this?

But, that's what everyone is doing. Going to the haunt locations at the end. I did this endlessly with no effect and no second giggle.

He didn't solve anything.

Nope, and it doesn't even really make sense since the "haunt locations" outlined aren't actually sources of the ghost sounds, the ghost itself is making the noises wherever she is and it seems completely random. I've had the crying ghost in the hallway by the clock, the "uh uh uh" ghost out the window, the heavy breathing in the bathroom mirror, etc. Whatever they are doing might be lucking into a trigger, but the logic of why they are doing it (going to the phone, radio and mirror) doesn't seem to track since the ghost isn't actually haunting those items but is just hanging out in the hallway somewhere.

Honestly, I am wondering if the second giggle is just a random timed event.

First time I got it when I screamed at an opportune moment (I also had been waiting at the phone too). I tried the just sitting and waiting. I got bored, moved some. About 30 minutes or more (maybe even an hour) after waiting at the clock, to the point that I just made my character sit there while I read Neogaf and reddit, it eventually gave me a giggle (before that I tried waiting at haunt spots she'd been at even). I mean I had been sitting htere long enough the creepy music that plays when she shows up had stopped registering and wasn't freaking me out anymore cause i had stopped paying attention entirely to the tv. The giggle happened and then I guess cause it was different than the usual sounds it actually registered to me that, "Oh, there it is". And I know several people have said they just let it sit there and it got a giggle eventually (one guy had it on pause and left his tv for an hour and when he came back the phone was ringing).

It would explain why there hasn't been any real pattern noticed yet. I think there has to be some randomness there and I wonder if it's just a random timed thing (each time you go through the door it sets a random time you have to wait at a spot before it giggles) or even it just randomly gives you that giggle.

Anyways, sitting and waiting does seem to work.

I wonder if anything interesting will happen on Aug 24th...

Edit: someone could try bumping the date of their ps4 ahead and play through it?

Apparently this dude just solved it.

The picture pieces provide you with a clue to the final puzzles. It calls upon you to seek her out. So by checking out the haunt locations during the final phase you'll trigger the second giggle.

EDIT: I was also able to complete it this way.

Been doing this for days with Xaos streaming, and tempest003 proxy chatting for me while Xaos streamed. Watched shagg from gaf and many other streams, plus many attempts on my own with no luck. This worked finally. No mic regular flashlight, not that it matters.

Intended. There are a number of random variations for this screen, I posted 3 of the ones I've had.

So has anyone else seen the white glitch screen that says the following in many languages? I can post a screen shot if people want to see it.

"Knowing you, I was sure you'd notice this game and play it. I will never - can never - forget that day 20 years ago. I have something to tell you. Contact me. -J. "

Thoughts on who J is? I read somewhere that the son's name started with J (which would make sense if the murders happened 20 years ago) but didn't know where this info was in the teaser.

Also read about how Silent Hill 2 took place around 1993-1994, about 20 years ago, and starred a "James" obviously. Any ideas? Apologies if this was already discussed.

Going to the bathroom and staring into the mirror during the second haunting triggers the second giggle every time for me.

I tried this, didn't get a second giggle, but text appeared on screen saying something like "He didn't take a step, his hand in mine," or something like that. Been just staring in the mirror for a long time now, ghost appeared in the reflection several times. I've now gotten reversed audio voice twice in the last couple of minutes. No second giggle.

Huh. I wonder if the variables change depending on certain things you do earlier in the game?

Do you have a mic plugged in?

I do have a mic plugged in, and the PS camera, but I do think that some of the people who can trigger the ending had their game in an optimal state before entering the final loop or something. So every time they load up the game they can repeat their "solution" and get the ending to trigger but really it's just a coincidence, and something else is actually triggering it.

EDIT: I've still been staring in the mirror, just trying to idle and see if I get a second giggle. Gotten another backwards voice, and some text flashed on screen in another language.

I wasn't crazy about SH4 in general, but the FP sections in the apartment were some of the best bits of PS2 gaming. Really captured that paranoid feeling of fear in an ordinary setting.

Sounds similar to Silent Hill 4. First person in the room was great.

I've been trying that new method where you go to the haunting spot depending on which sound comes up but now she just appears to be spawning in the bathroom over and over and not giggle. I feel like this is close to what I need to be doing but I'm missing something.

I'm starting to think "I'm not chosen" Kojima. Thus I "chose" to not buy your game.

"Knowing you, I was sure you'd notice this game and play it. I will never - can never - forget that day 20 years ago. I have something to tell you. Contact me. -J. "[/B]

J is the son. You can also hear him in the Epilog, where he complains about his dad:
"Everyday he'd eat the same kind of food, dress the same, sit in front of the same kind of games [..] But then one day, he goes and kills us all. [..] Guess what, I'll be coming back. And I will bring my new toys with me..
So it looks like we're playing as the dad who killed his family. His dead son comes back from the other world and tricks him into playing this video game P.T. (Knowing you, I was sure you'd notice this game and play it). The dad then gets trapped inside the game. If you die in P.T. and respawn in the first room, theres a paperbag with a speaking head behind you (probably that one guy, who also killed his family and then hanged himself):

"I walked. I could do nothing but walk. And then I saw me, walking in front of myself. But it wasn't really me. Watch out. The gap between the door.. it's a separate reality. The only me is me. Are you sure, the only you is you?"
So this might actually refer to you as the player, since you noticed this game on PSN lol. By stepping through that door we enter one of many Silent Hills, thas his son had prepared (new toys). The father sees himself walking in front of him, because the player is now controlling him (3rd person).

Both, the player and the dad are now trapped, but according to that hidden swedish voice in the radio (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jb2SOhCjEw) you can become "one of them". And the gates to a new dimension will open soon (probably means, that for the first time in the series we will visit multiple versions of Silent Hill, no only the one dedicated to the protagonist, hence the name "Silent Hills"). You escaped from your own Silent Hill limbo by facing your past and fears. Then the phone rings and tells you, you are the chosen one (become one of them - step through different dimensions).

Oh, finally, someone managed to properly record the Swedish voice. I noticed it when I watched the Giant Bomb playthrough and wondered if it meant anything significant beyond the context of the reveal. Definitely cool, though. I kind of laughed when other people in other streams called it a "demonic voice".

EDIT: I found a better video that adds English subtitles for people.

So, I've been looking everywhere for a short video of the P.T. experience instead of walkthroughs and could only find a few.
To be honest, I just wanted to find some that explained the method of solving the last puzzle instead of people on different forums "trying" to explain how they did it.
This guy pretty much sums up the entire interactive trailer experience with this one video.
The repetition, the scares, the baby laughs, the reactions, etc.
Also, at the end he reveals where all the picture pieces are (for those who were still unsure) and the way he solved the last puzzle.

Very interesting stuff, thanks for the informative reply. Is there anything in the teaser that identifies the son's name as "J" or starting with J? It certainly makes sense for all the other reasons, and the SH2 James connection always seemed like a stretch. Frankly I hope this is a new story that isn't beholden to any "fan favorite" characters. Both the teaser and final game, whether or not they end up being linked at all.

Its been confirmed many times already in this very thread, but ill also say its not necessary to be steaming. For me it was necessary to have my PS4 mic plugged in though.

I think I did it without the mic plugged in, but I also have the camera so it coulda got me there.
Not sure if it was muted or not.

Nice explanation on J there, but wasn't it already stated that the teaser has no real connection to the actual game of Silent Hill? Outside of it being a hidden reveal.

I believe so, better leaving this as something to remember than making it canon. Though I wonder if any of the family or the guy you are controlling are actually in the real game. Having him in FP is like having the option in other 3rd person games, except this one is throughout the entire length of the teaser. What I'm mostly talking about is how he looks in front of the mirror. I don't think we'll see a 2014 release. lol :'(

Can anyone pinpoint exactly what triggers the girl killing the player? I want to through the demo again. But a lot of the reason I can't play it anymore without sweating profusely is because I'm anticipating her surprise.

It's weird since I've seen so many people playing through and taking their time and not getting murdered. :/

Also worth mentioning: The "saving progress" icon that you see on the bottom right corner, while stepping through the loop door, is a simplified version of the Halo of the Sun (present in all Silent Hill games).

qoxEC63.gif

That makes it very likely, that "The Order" is somehow involved in the new Silent Hills. Instead of the whole symbol, we only see the three circles in P.T. The circles represent past, present and future. It's interesting that they appear, when you step through the door, i.e. start another loop/ trying another reality. For example: In Silent Hill 4 you were traveling to different locations by crawling through holes, which also represented the circles of the sun. My guess is, that in P.T. The Order wants you to join them, since you redeemed yourself by facing and overcoming your past & present self (the fact that you killed your family doesn't matter, since they dont believe in good or bad). Unlike the guy who hanged himself, you are the chosen one. But The Order is bad mkay ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) We'll probably have to fight them through all dimensions

They should do like Silent Hill 4.
Worked great there.

Also, seems like the game is still in the very early stages.
We'll probably get a teaser trailer for it at Gamescom 2015, or E32015 if we're lucky.

And a more solid one at E32016.

The good news is, there's still time to tweet Kojima about getting back some folks from the Team Silent (Yamaoka and Ito especially).

Aw, 2016? Major bummer. This is kinda early to start building the hype. Maybe this Teaser should've waited for E3 2015. Unless they're basing the direction of the full game on how people react to this.

Make sure to collect all 6 picture pieces before you finish the loop with the flashlight. Maybe you have another loop or two after this but not confident about that. You can avoid her otherwise auto-kill because the door to the stairs will already be open. I managed to finish the teaser with only seeing her the two brief times: closing the bathroom door then standing in the hallway before disappearing.

Oh.

But what does the 0 signify? Seems out of place.

Yeah I don't get this either. Everyone says it's his birthday but there is another number there. Clearly it is referencing his b-day but there has to be more to it as well. I feel like the b-day similarity is a bit of a red herring.

radio "turn around" phrase.
You are possessed right after the flashlight and she will attack you randomly there until you figure out the next puzzle.

That's pretty much it.

Just beat it a while ago. Tried it when it released, got to the last loop but didn't know what the fuck to do. After an hour of walking back and fourth I gave up.

I decided to give it another go and beat it in like 15min or less. Was scared the whole time because I KNEW what was gonna happen (you know, nothing worse than knowing you're gonna get jumped and you prepare, and prepare, and prepare for it) but I never got jumped. Not even once. I did confront her at the balcony though, so I don't know if that "delays" her jumping attack.

Anyway, after I got to the final loop I decided to "face my fears" instead of looking the other way. As soon as the bells started I kept walking towards the phone. Waited till they stopped, 10 steps, first giggle. Afterwards I waited for the next haunting, by the bathroom, since it's that location is near the other two possible spawns (being one itself, aswell). Heard muffled crying with beeping sounds - the radio. Went there and stared at it until the haunting stopped. Moved once again to the bathroom, looked at the baby and talked to him for like 20secs.

Then, second haunting. Was expecting it to come from bathroom, honestly, but it didn't. Again, muffled crying and beeping : the fucking radio *again*. So I moved fast towards it and stared at it. After it stopped I was once again on my way towards the bathroom, stopped by the baby, talked some more and I got the second giggle. Didn't move, vibration, 20secs later last giggle. Waited for the phone, rushed towards it (I was aprehensive that the bitch would have her revenge now, since she didn't jumped me or possessed me yet) but nada.

Stared at the phone, said "hello" just 2 times (just in case lol) and it rang straight away.
It's probably a coincidence, but everytime I decided to "talk" I would trigger something in my favor. As soon as I stopped talking to the baby got my second giggle, same with the phone. Seems stupid but I really think the mic has influence in the outcome (and it makes sense since it's something bundled with every ps4 for free, so everyone should have one).

People are getting the ending while standing still because they probably pick one of the 3 possible haunting spawns and stick by it. It's randomly generated, so you might get lucky and get spawned twice were you stand (even when paused, as the game logic keeps going, as other posters have said). Or you can get REAL unlucky and she always spawns elsewhere, thus you don't get the giggles. Facing her wherever she spawns seems the way to go, honestly. It's faster too.

Probably mentioned here before but:

Muffled breathing/panting - phone

Muffled breathing/beeping noises/static - radio

Crying - Bathroom

Be sure to identifify the noise and react accordingly and fast towards the spawn.

I was happy, finally got some closure goddamn. Also, sorry Lisa, no freebies for you this time.

Also, If you run into her during the last loop, she will probably kill you. Happens a lot for me. Just have to stay away from her during the last phase. Its easy since you can hear her

Anyone noticed that when you wake up in the room at the start or after dying,
if you watch the door, I'm pretty sure you can just about see Lisa opening the door.

At least a friend and I both think so.

Then why not 2048603?

Yeah this was my question as well. As far as I know, the game always pronounces each number separately: 2-0-4-8-6-3. I'm not aware of anytime it says "twenty" or anything like that, but maybe I missed it.

One side note: after peeking through the hole during the fast-moving red sequence, the fetus in the sink uses the phrase "exactly 10 months back" when talking about "you got fired so you drowned your sorrows in booze." Maybe this is related to the "exactly 10 steps" of the final puzzle? You are supposed to walk 10 steps back from the radio to the phone? Moving through the hallways is moving through time? Just crazy speculation but the phrasing is interesting.

What I find interesting is on the radio the guy says nine eleven instead of 9-1-1 like most people say for when dialing that number. I wonder if that has any meaning.

I've only played SH1&2. Is the music in the trailer only from the first one or has that music been in all the SH games?

Hm, so from the "behind you" bit on the radio she'll pop up? I never got possessed. I guess I didn't get far enough. I'll check out the puzzles some more to make sure I can get past where I was. Her popping out makes me shit a damn house. :(
