Dunno, you'd need a full Sega leak what with it all being digital sales. I mean what doesnt help is that for all of its aesthetic beauty, JSR plays like a pretty damn busted ass game at the best of times. Sales would ride on old players mostly and not good word of mouth. Was fun to play on Vita, but then it had some crash issues.

NiGHTS HD probably didn't set the sales world alight either, Afterburner Climax and Daytona too. I think Shenmue and Skies would have done better because they're more meaty games with more of a (crazed) following, but there just aren't that many people making Sega console games anymore fullstop. The company wallet is clearly thin and will most likely stay that way unless Sonic Boom is some unparalleled success story (what theyre banking on).

It's like Sega is trying to fail and go bankrupt. They only make bad decision (imo), they didn't touch to the gameplay of JSR for the HD release and it didn't age well, far from it. And then, they decide to release NiGHTS HD... REALLY SEGA?! NiGHTS HD!! Come on, nobody gave a shit when it (by "it" I mean the HD version) released.

So, to me, it's horrible decisions and it's like they want to fail.

The cartoon more than anything. Probably dont have delusions a WiiU game is going to shatter the Earth (or a 3DS version), or maybe they do hope the cartoon will be such a mega-success it'd drag the games up with it. Figures, comic book, they're going in hard.

Final thrashings of a dying beast really. It remains to be seen just what part Atlus will play in the Sega tale, or be kept blissfully entirely separate, but I have no idea what position Sega occupies in as little as 2 years time.

That's not hard to imagine. If Sega were to make a Shenmue Remaster they would use the Yakuza engine.

I know it was a financial failure, but Sega knows fans are heavily requesting an HD re-release for Shenmue. Was there any demand concerning NiGHTS? I don't recall there was.

This is the problem companies have. The small hardcore internet base makes so much noise you can get pulled into it and believe they represent the mass market and that numbers will be good. The 'I love WiiU' noise to actual sales ratio is a pretty good example of that.

Sega fans can kick up a stink still, but I guess not enough put their money where their mouths are or that there simply just aren't enough even left these days to make things a moderate to big hit.

I can understand that, but I'm still convinced that an HD release for Shenmue would sell pretty well. And I'm sure the Shenmue fanbase is bigger than the Nights fanbase (even though I don't have numbers to prove my beliefs).

Wonderful. The best part is that they kept the Dreamcast style intact. It's not like some of those Unreal Engine 4 or CryEngine rendering of old games, with out of the place shaders and such.

Exactly my thoughts. Looks exactly like it did, just, well, better! Ryo looks a little off though.

Would it be possible to do a HD texture mod for Shenmue, like that guy on here who is HD'ing resident evil? The textures were the worst part of Shenmue.
