Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XIII: Leak Dynasty

Not open for further replies.
Seeing as this has reached most Nintendo-related forums, Sakurai might know about this and if he wants to keep speculation going, it would make sense for him to just outright debunk it ASAP if it is fake. The problem with the Gematsu leak was that newcomer reveals were most likely prepared well in advance and they're not revealed in PoTDs so it would've been more difficult. Veterans are probably on a schedule as well but not as strict as newcomers. Though a new 3DS stage could almost verify or debunk it at this point.

That's probably not what's going to happen though and this will drag lol.

If this is legit, I have a feeling Dark Pit and Dr. Mario have the same moves as SSB4 Pit and Mario respectively, with properties changed. So no Dr. Tornado.

Dr. Mario with FLUDD would be kind of weird, though. Then again, so is Wolf having a Landmaster...

I played a bit of Catherine and it mostly boiled down to Pushmo with tits.

Pushmo with tits and challenging difficulty and good presentation. And a fantastic OST.

whats a catherine

Atlus Puzzle game. Pretty good, I'd recommend.

Heath why :c

One of these is not like the others

Well all of these games play differently and have different design and concepts. Although if you meant that Catherine isn't as universally acclaimed as the other games, then yeah, I can agree with that. Just listing personal favorites though.

I've played and beaten everything listed except Catherine, don't particularly care for puzzle games all that much

It's a very good game, although if you don't like Puzzle games then I wouldn't recommend it to you, I'd still recommend listening the soundtrack though.

Also, Rundas! Like him a lot, but I'm pretty surprised he made this list. Interesting to know he's got a bit more support than I thought.

These things rock Oric! Wish I would've participated, but alas I failed.
Thanks! I might do another one for the Wii U launch, so maybe then!

He could probably de-confirm it just by showing some more of the GameBoy or N's Castle stages.

I honestly can't think how the Ness model would be 100% right yet they managed to see a detail as obvious as the Ice Climbers not being in the game, it's an impossible scenario.

If Ness is revealed tomorrow and the render is identical, it confirms real.
If Ice climbers are ALSO confirmed, that does not disprove it. All that does is proves that the CSS screenshot did not have all of the characters unlocked.
Dr. Mario with FLUDD would be kind of weird, though. Then again, so is Wolf having a Landmaster...

what if fludd shoots medicine :p

I did bought the trilogy but I had to return it back due to money problem, but I'm still planning to buy it someday soon.

Having bought the trilogy recently, I can wholeheartedly recommend you do that. Metroid Prime is a wonderful game that tells a fairly complex story using only it's periphery and straddles the line between hand holding and being lost surprisingly well. You always have a lead on where to go and what needs to happen next. It's a very difficult balance to strike but retro does it wonderfully.

Prime 2's alright. Lot of stuff doesn't really work but some of it does.

I mean like using the Electroshock Arm and Fairy Orbitars. No huge animation change, just the weapon models. I don't think it's that much work.

Maybe they can have the same animation, but different speed/power/etc. or properties, just like in Kid Icarus Uprising... that would be really cool actually.

Imagine that instead of using Guardian Orbitars, Dark Pit uses Eye Track Orbitars, shooting projectiles that follow the target for a few seconds.

I hope Dark Pit is Brawl Pit.

I don't mind that but It don't really make sense since Dark Pit didn't even have any access to those sacred treasures. But again, It's Sakurai.

I really hope that we are going to get veteran reveal this week before weekend start because I don't think this thread would survive with those leaks.

Getting this from where?

Smashboards has the translated famitsu scans

Also:

The cool swordsman who honors chivalry. While he has absolutely no projectiles, he makes use of high speed and his long reach. In exchange for his strong point of attacks, his small body is very easy to send flying. However, because he is able to jump up to 6 times, his ability to return to the stage is extraordinary.

I'm going to bet metaknight is going to be pretty powerful again, also 6 jumps? Wasn't it just 5 in Brawl?

Otherwise I don't see any reason for them to be carted off into a corner with Lucina when Toon Link is listed normally.
The animation for dr tornado already exists in Mario's move set, and doc having some weird virus launching fludd would be jumping the shark for the series

I just want Dr. Mario to have his heel drop sex kick. Do whatever else you want otherwise.

It's all about the Black Coat for me.

shit was ace.

also having the Mario Tornado back will be pretty cool (unless they give him a new Pil related move instead)

Sudden death isn't fair, it puts the advantage on the character who happens to have to most spammable kill moves and quickest movement speed.

If you're bowser vs. sheik and you're at 12% whereas sheik is on 97% but it times out, you're instantly put at a disadvantage despite being at the advantage previously.

Honestly, it should only go to a tiebreaker if both characters have the exact same amount of stocks and percentage at the end of the game, otherwise the one with the lowest %age wins, that's the way it's always been done because it's the best way to do it, sm4sh being a new game doesn't change that.
I don't think a Smash tournament (especially a tournament with theme characters) is about being fair necessarily, it's about doing well with whatever restrictions and luck the game provides. Sometimes you get good items, sometimes you get bad items, sometimes you have good matchups, sometimes you have bad matchups.

Like, I'm no fighter expert but I think timer scamming exists in other games (I think I saw it watching EVO streams?) -- where the damage meter got ignored and it just counted as a tie? Similarly, in chess if you can trick your opponent into a stalemate, it's better for you since they were unable to secure the checkmate / kill.

*edit* To be clear I'm aware I may be the only person who feels this way, but since opinions were asked for I shared mine! I will of course follow whatever rules the tournament ends up with, which I imagine will be similar to normal tournaments in the past.

Another veteran reveal would be with how this leak is going.

I disagree. Why outright debunk it? Why not let it build up in people's minds that this is quiet possibly the final roster, and then after a short while, BAM, anything can happen again?

All it takes is one pic of the day

"What!? How did dark pit get the sacred treasures? Well... try not to think about that!"

All I ask of Dark Pit is that he delivers where regular Pit does not, he must bring the claws, just swap out the upperdash arm for a claw dash attack or something.
Otherwise he's worthless to me!

Damn I really don't know shit about Nintendo.
Those newcomers even from bigger games I've never even heard of.
Man, I actually envy you. Most of the fun of Smash games for is discovering characters and series I never tried out/knew about before, but this time I pretty much know every newcomer and I already played all the new series represented here.

Well, except Shulk, if he's in.

I'm actually more excited for Dr. Mario's possible return than any of the newcomers. Love me some Mario and if he's a heavier version, like in Melee? Hell yes. And honestly I've really been warming up to Dark Pit since we've gotten rumblings of him; he's a low-effort character that can show off the variety of Uprising's weapons with new orbitars, arms, and so forth.

Duck Hunt is one of those characters that didn't appeal to me at all before the leak - because the dog? I don't really care about the dog. He's a one-note punch-line character. But Duck Hunt the GAME? Now THAT is interesting. Absolutely iconic in the United States and mixing in all of the aspects of the game - the dog, the ducks, and the crosshairs - could make for an amazing character. High hopes for that one if this all pans out.

Bowser Jr. is cool in my book, too, though I'm not huge on the Koopaling's being rammed in there I think the Koopa Clown Car has some potential. Shulk is the same degree of "meh" he's always been to me but I'm not against it. And, while the cuts suck (particularly the Ice Climbers, being a unique franchise), the DLC rumor fills all of those gaps and more. No complaints if that's the final roster. Even has Snake!

Timer scamming in other fighting games is where you play defensively to run down the timer whilst you have a health advantage, the player with the most health when the timer runs out automatically wins.

I also don't think the luck factor the game provides should ever be a thing in a smash bros. tournament, keep that in casual play.

This is the best part of the Smash Cycle... but I really hope the leak gets proven false tonight.
Pls sakurik.

I hope he posts something that's both completely nuts and doesn't affect the validity of the leak in one way or the other. Like a Bayonetta assist trophy or something.

Part of me wants the Ice Climbers to show up tonight....

the other wants Ness ...with the same render.

either way chaos

(I like the leak roster ...sans maybe Bowser Jr. in a cart but even that is cool...and yet I still want some more surprises too...also Mewtwo)
