That is a really vague response, though. I still have no idea what the hell happened and I definitely will not be buying games from the Steam store again, since that seemed to trigger whatever the problem was. Third party seems fine!

Glad you got your account back, but yeah, they really should have given you a better indication of what happened so that you could fix whatever it was. The only thing I could think of is if you bought a key from a sketchy source and it turned out to have been stolen.

Company of Heroes 2 has 90% negative reviews on Steam? Is it actually bad or is this like when something gets a 1/10 on Metacritic? I thought I heard that it was decent (at least based on media reviews).
It had some optimization issues, graphically did not feel too great of a jump from the previous iteration and I believe it also riled some people up about how they interpreted historical events or something along those lines. From me looking from the outside and having no attachment to any of the games.

I'm still missing a bunch of games, though. :( And I was hoping to play The Wolf Among Us again...

Did the people who lost their gifts because of this get them back?
Mind as well follow up and ask them to clarify what the issue was. Maybe you'll get a response in another 2 weeks. :p

Nationalistic Russians with a poor grasp of their own history got mad that the game portrayed their ancestors with a bias toward historical accuracy. Or so I heard. I haven't messed with it due to time constraints.

Saturday!

I'll drop in!

I don't think TWD S1 had sprint, but The Wolf Among Us did, so I guess they felt obligated to add something...

You can barely notice it, but it is there, taunting you...

Oh, heck, they probably shouldn't have added it.
I think holding shift in TWD S1 also makes you walk faster. Not a new feature.

Hmm... you can get Evil Within for £24.99 off amazon or get the the limited edition version with a artbook for £29.99 off GAME, both come with the fighting chance DLC which makes the Steam version pricing really akward to put any money down on it at £34.99 . Bethesda Zenimax I recall had problems with Skyrim on Steam in the UK as it had a delayed pre-order option due to GAME muscling in (presumption, but most people point to them) so I'm wondering if this is a similar situation... pretty stupid if it is.

Also I am pretty sure SD:DE is just the game and DLC put together, the pricing matches the old SD PC game very very closely on the amazon stored, compared to the nex-gen consoles the price gap is way too big.

Have it on pre-order for the artbook, thanks to Dr Dogg for pointing this out.

Oh, and how is Company of Heroes 2? Worth $10? I've never been huge into RTS (even though I've played a bit of SC2 and enjoyed it), but I LOVE WWII games, and I think COH2 looks good. Haven't heard any opinions on it outside of reviews though.

Single player campaign is fun, same sort of feel as CoH 1, just remember to ignore the story. Multiplayer has automatch, automatch vs bots, and custom games, ranging from 1v1 to 4v4. There is also a challenge mode, called Theatre of War, where you play special maps that have special objectives and conditions. For example, the first set of ToW missions takes place in 1941, so units are restricted to those that actually served in that period. I mostly play ToW and vs bots with a friend, so I can't say much about the PvP aspect. For just the single player campaign + the first ToW missions I'd say it's worth $10. The problem is that, even though Relic has toned down the DLC-fest, some of the dlc is p2w, and each ToW set is going to cost 5-10 bucks (outside of a sale). The amount of dlc in the game just feels so nickle & dimey that it has soured the experience a bit.

Russians didn't like how the Russian military was portrayed in the game, and there were mass negative reviews as a result.

welps, thats disappointing. Still holding out hope that MGSV isn't region locked that way I can get MGSV on the cheap for PC and still get it on PS4 to play MGSO with my friends.

Pretty much all Konami games since MGR:R have been locked... why would MGS be any different?

I probably would only be playing for SP content, so it sounds like something I might enjoy. I'll probably pick it up tonight.

Still boggles my mind how digital seems to always be £10 more expensive than physical here. Should I just blame GAME?

Nice to see you got it sorted! Didn't you say before that it was Paypal that was the issue? You could just not use paypal, I dunno. Or steam wallet cards.

And mine was not, but I got it sorted anyway, so don't worry!

I thought it was PayPal because that would have made sense, but PayPal confirmed that everything was on Valve's end and that nothing fishy went on with my money there. So I have no idea what Valve detected from my account!

That's good!!

Glad you got your account back, but yeah, they really should have given you a better indication of what happened so that you could fix whatever it was. The only thing I could think of is if you bought a key from a sketchy source and it turned out to have been stolen.

Yay, me too! \o/ The only thing I did was use the Steam market! Unless people are putting sketchy keys on that market! I think it may have had something to do with me moving out of the country.

I'm going to see if I can get any details from Steam support because I don't want to accidentally do what I did again if I did something wrong!

At least they're not as slow as GMG! Maybe!

I'm afraid they're going to permaban me or something for asking, but I think I'll ask anyway because I'm really curious! :X I'm super paranoid about Steam now. Maybe if I phrase it nicely!

I don't think the pricing is to do with GAME. £34.99 is a normal PC price on Steam. Steam is rarely cheap for pre-orders outside of trading. Other digital stores are the same. Blame publishers and/or Steams poor default conversion rate. However, games not being available to order on Steam in the UK probably is the fault of GAME since they have been known to do that in the past.

Quick currency conversion puts it at $40 for the UK version...pretty sure the Russian version will cost around $26-$30

I wouldn't really blame GAME, Bethesda Zaenimax knows the UK retail sector will stock their games no matter what, but GAME does have a very very cosy relationship with Zenimax (Before they were nearly out of business) Hence why they could nab all the pre-order options / Exclusive editions before Amazon and the rest.

It's a shame GAME came back from the dead as prices for other stuff are still stupid especially at retail, PC is a bit of a safe haven on pricing.

It's a fine game really, though not without it's issues. The mass 1/10 bombing mostly came from folks who thought the game's single player campaign was glamorising the Wehrmacht and portraying the Red Army as incompetent monsters.

Not surprisingly, Relic returned to the Western Front for the DLC. Rather less contentious really.

I have failed in my attempts to play Morrowind and Oblivion. They have aged poorer than any games I know of. It hurts knowing that I once called Oblivion friend. Once my favorite game.

It was replaced as the favorite by Fallout 3 soon after, but yknow, it still hurts. Knowing that I cannot bear to look at it any longer. Something I held dear.

I fear the day I realize this for Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I must enjoy the time I have left with them.

I dunno, recently I've seen publishers starting to take a bit more and more here in the UK. Like, Ubisoft right now are trying to make £50 a standard, which is similar to the consoles, so I think right now we're in a situation where due to the consoles bringing a wee price bump in games, PC is getting affected too. Might be wrong though, hopefully Ubisoft are the exception rather than the rule.

random google search says no

I feel like I should have turned SafeSearch on for that, lol!

Happy you got your account back! :D I really wish they could have been more specific with the problem.

I asked for more details; hopefully they know and can let me know!

Glad to see you got your account unlocked at least. Shame that the games are missing though :/

I'm glad I wasn't permabanned! :X Hopefully I can sort out what happened to the missing games, because I'm pretty sure they're unrelated to the whole thing. Very strange!

can i request a buy trade? I only have steam cash available to me at this moment. i would like to get someone a 5 dollar item on steam of their choice in exchange for this Amazon item:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K88T974/?tag=neogaf0e-20

no time constraints, you can wait for a daily, the money is yours to use for a $5 USD or less item on Steam that i will gift to you

I feel like I should have turned SafeSearch on for that, lol!
that goes without saying

Uh oh, I haven't played Oblivion in years. It used to be my favorite game, too! Now I'm scared to revisit it! At least I'll still have a good laugh at the character creator if I do.

Glad you got it back :) <3

Thanks, me too! \o/ Hurray Steam!
