Any guesses as to when we see this in NA? March?
Probably mid to late March 2015 for both EU/NA.

That's what sucks.
Everyone gonna be paying $150-$200 bones for a new machine with a fucking PICA 200 GPU from ages ago in 2015.
Yes I'm salty over this fact. Come have lunch with me!
It doesnt matter if its pokemon or not. With this release of this new console, theyre just not caring for the fans who owned the regular or xl 3ds. Sure some games will be playable on the old 3ds, but taking out the adition of new shoulder buttons and a "extra circle pad".You can still run Pokemon BW2 on the phat DS no?
Especially with the fact that Nintendo made a huge deal out of Pokemon and 2DS to kids and budget mindful players, I really don't think they are that willing to shoot themselves in the foot.
They aren't dropping 3DS support, the only exclusive games for the New 3DS will be ones not possible on 3DS, most games will just be regular 3DS games. The is fucking bullshit, Nintendo!
If it was just a cosmetic revision, I wouldn't much care, but fact that it's basically a halfway new console with a new CPU and whatnot really makes me angry.
The new Xenoblade 3DS won't run on any current 3DS's. 3DS market will be divided with all these games exclusive to the "New" 3DS.
All current 3DS owners just got screwed.

So now that it has all the same buttons and sticks as the WiiU gamepad, does anyone think this new 3DS will be able to be used as a gamepad with the U?
It seems like it might be able to with the extra CPU and all.
I wonder if Nintendo will discontinue the older 3DS/3DS XL when this launches in the US?
There is no resolution bump.Surprised at the amount of people not talking about the CPU and resolution bump this new 3DS is getting. It shouldn't be called a 3DS if it's got newer hardware configuration.
New games like Xenoblade port and possibly other's in development may not be backwards compatible with older 3DS.
If this goes beyond Xenoblade game for compatibility then they kin of are pulling a Sega.
Even though I like the new design and the retro feel their going for, not calling it a new handheld will have damage to the handheld brand they have.

True. The wording of it makes me really worried, though.
Only Micro SD and it sounds like they still don't support SDXC or 64GB.I'm so late to the details. Always glossing over details hours later
k so I'm still mad about the cover plates. That's nothing new.
How about the SD cards? I can only use MicroSD?

If they called it a new handheld and gave it a different name people would just bitch about how it's "just a 3DS with another analog stick and slightly faster CPU."

I'm a owner of a Nintendo 3DS since launch. The price drop hurted me a little, even the ambassador program wasn't enough for me to forget that I waste money buying it at launch and I learned my lesson by not buying consoles at launch. After that Nintendo launched 3DS XL and my reaction was just hype.
Because they launch a new hardware that is better than the one you're actually using doesn't mean betrayal to the userbase to me. If they can attract more consumers by creating new software that they would like more it's fine for me and it's a normal behaviour in the land of business and technology. Just look at the smartphone market.
The "problem" of the exclusive software that people is complaining is baseless IMO. It's like you complain againts progress. The new revision of the console is just following the advances in technology in a less hard way than a complete new portable system. They are just telling us "Hey, we made a new revision that's better that the one you have because it's faster, it has more buttons, etc.". Now, it's YOUR choice to pick it or not (depends in your adquisition power and willing to pay for that new technology).
In conclusion, I feel that the people who are annoyed because of this revision are like saying "I don't want they to offer more advanced products to other people, I want they to stick offering stuff just for me and no-one else!". In a logical way:
Nintendo without a revision offers: A, B and C
Nintendo with a revision offers: A, A+, B, B+, C and C+
They grab a larger market with that. So... What's the bad thing about it?
Well this would be a pretty shitty new handheld. It's just a revision. If they called it a new handheld and gave it a different name people would just bitch about how it's "just a 3DS with another analog stick and slightly faster CPU."
Like a lot of people, I have some real mixed feelings about this. A revision is one thing, but one has to buy this revision to play certain games. I'm not one of those people who buy every revision. I have a single 3DS XL, and had no plans to buy another. I guess I can sell my current XL model and try and get as much as I can for the new model, but I wish I didn't have to do that.
I had to.
That said. I dont think its a bad move. But they should market it as a new console and not some 3ds revision. Change the name, since you change the whole layout. Its a bad move calling it "new" 3ds. Its a bad marketing move. It looks good, I live the feel of it. But theyre obligating us to trade or sell our current hardware early to get the most of the value. To go with this new bullshit move they did.
I assume DSiWare is safe though.Oh, so they did drop DS BC. Lame. But expected. Nintendo always does that with the latter hardware revisions.
Wait, where did they say that? All I saw was that DS peripherals won't work (like Guitar Hero), but those never worked on 3DSOh, so they did drop DS BC. Lame. But expected. Nintendo always does that with the latter hardware revisions.
It's still a 3DS, the new CPU is probably just at a higher clockrate (after all, it runs every other 3DS game). And of course, there is no resolution bump, because it's still a 3DS.
If they called it a new handheld and gave it a different name people would just bitch about how it's "just a 3DS with another analog stick and slightly faster CPU."

Yeah. I mean now we got 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, NEW 3DS, NEW 3DS XL.Yeah I agree with the issue of the name. Nintendo's marketing team is doing really bad with the names lately.
No, they didn't.Oh, so they did drop DS BC. Lame. But expected. Nintendo always does that with the latter hardware revisions.
