Tragic yuri:
Your Fault

Although what makes Your Fault interesting in that it shows the point of view of both girls in the story. But ultimately, it ends the way it has to end, because annnngst.

Your Fault didn't feel too tragic to me (because of the way the NTR element was used) but showing the point of view of both girls was interesting. Showing one girl finding out and then showing why the other girl did that made the whole story interesting to read.

I have high hopes too! As for the promise thing, for someone using a Nisekoi avatar, you sound a little less convincing. :p
That's from Nisekoi, right?

Clearly I hold Seo to higher standards than Nisekoi!

Plus it's not like Haru made any promise to anyone, that's why she's the best girl!

.....

Stop looking at me, I never said I was making a consistent arguement!

Yes, it is. Haru Onodera.

i have been like these for 2 years i think

back then i can identify everybody even if i read alot

I've been like this since... well this summer, when I started reading mangas by the dozens per week rather than sticking just with a big 3+ selected 4 or 5 other mangas.

It saddens me to see a page sullied by non-Nisekoi avatars.

that's what happens when you place blind faith in Togashi LOL

Never put your faith in Togashi.

Well, at least no one's stupid enough to put Raku as his/her avatar.

Except that one guy.

20th Century Boys Vol. 1

This seems interesting so far. Glad to finally be starting on this one, but I didn't know it was so long so I'm betting it will take me quite a while to finish.

Enjoy. One heck of a masterpiece from Naoki Urasawa.

I always twitched involuntarily every time someone praised 20th Century Boys.

One of the most tragic examples of promising manga that turned into overextended, oversaturated rubbish full of unnecessary paddings.

Still, the fact remains that I enjoyed it a lot, and some also consider it as Urasawa's magnum opus.

It's all in the way a story using NTR elements ends.
I mean, in most stories NTR feels like a way to destroy the status quo in a relationship (friendship/couple/family) and doing it in a way to corrupt one side (or both) while hurting the other. If at the end of the story the status quo is unchanged (like most works using NTR that I got to read), even if only on the surface, then it just feels like wasted potential.

It's a reason why I have a certain liking for MUSA despite the rape to get that NTR in the story and it's because by the end the status quo gets destroyed and it brings consequences.

Sounds like any of Urasawa with the exception of Pluto.

The degrees of the issue vary from work to work, but they're usually there.

Well, I did enjoy its beginnings, but I just couldn't help but to feel extremely annoyed by how he handled it overall. I finished it, but I absolutely loathed it at the end.

The degree of which 20th Century Boys inflicted with it was enormous.

Alright, guess I'll get started on Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun 01-03

Male character reminds me of Mori-senpai from Ouran High School Host Club for a bit...and boy is he dense.

New male assistant enters the scene...looks like he could be a interesting character.

It's not that I dislike it really, it's just that the beginning few chapters are really hard to get through.

So I actually just dislike the beginning I guess. Violent tsunderes are a fine tradition but jesus christ I feel sorry for raku constantly. Plus unlike other harems I enjoyed there really isn't anything to it other than the harem.

Gunka no Balzer really meet my expectation. Not yet finished reading the published chapters, but I hope there will be more named, important characters involved, not just Balzer and his one-eyed demagogue friend. Putting more screentime on Weissen army chief-of-staff is what I'm hoping for too.

And Balzer is a horrible bastard. How can he let a heiress to a noble family stay virgin of a saber?!

Sounds like any of Urasawa with the exception of Pluto.

The degrees of the issue vary from work to work, but they're usually there.

Pluto if anything, needs one extra volume and one extra character (an assistant or some sort for Gesitch).

Most ntr don't give put in as much effort in narration compared to Seme Danjou ones. It's usually < insert reason to cheat > so that the author could get an excuse to draw ahegao faces during sex. And for known names like Sanbun Kyoden, Nagare Ippon or Tanaka Aji, it's a race to the bottom for how depraved, over-the-top the situation can get. Musa is different because the girl not only realized they are other men out there but there is this tingling sense of regret and tragedy of what could have been. Plus that 1 in a million chance the kid could be his. It's ironic because more H artist should use this template considering Musa was one of the earlier works before the whole NTR trend took off.

In certain genres, you might just be the one closest to my preferences in GAF. It's about time you read the last volume of Punpun! Also, have you checked out Platform from Endo Hiroki Tanpenshuu?

I'm A Fool (One-shot) by Amagakure Gido

A rather nice shoujo ai read. It's not particularily tragic or comedic but rather melancholic, about the lives of two grownup girls and the contrast between their past and present lives. Not much else to say really.

And only a few volumes in, too.

Billy Bat is particularly bad. It's not just evocative of shit like Lost anymore, but also of Lady in the Water.

This is a serious talk that I would never be able to get into

Why doesn't this series get more attention? Is it because the MC is too much of a crybaby?

Anyway, the translations are about 20 chapters behind, which is a real shame because the plot has really picked up since then.

Art-wise, Hiroyuki Asada's style of not hatching (opting for lots of tone instead) gives the work a very sharp sense of contrast, which fits in very well with the world he is trying to create and evoking a noir aesthetic. It reminds me of Shin Takahashi, except with pastels instead of watercolours.

Mahoromi - Jikuu Kenchiku Genshitan

Toume Kei really goes for the nostalgia factor, which manifests itself as a kind of wistfulness that pervades her works. This one is no different. Art is gorgeous as always - the linework is somewhat loose and sketchy but the technicals are superb.

Yes. So. Annoying. I somehow saw the two seasons of this and was so utterly terrified about Lag Seeing never growing out of tearing up. There are very few episodes where he don't cry. And if he isn't crying someone else is.

Yeah, of course there'd be someone in the baths. That origami is pretty amazing though.

Soma 43

Waitwaitwaitwait... tempeh + ramen ???

I don't think they could go well together. Maybe I should try that sometime.

Edit: just googling it. There's actually quite a decent amount of tempeh ramen recipes :p

Yeah I was suprised too. Cant wait to get it from Yen Press.

Definitely. Finally I'll be free from uncertain scanlations. ;_;

Tempeh basically acts like a denser piece of tofu in that kind of recipe. It works.

Am I the only person who actually tries out some of the recipes in soma?

Ladies and Gentlemen and Copycats,

Badass Soma has finally arrived.

And he's going to take you all on one wild ride.

Best moment in the chapter. Though the bacon dish did sound good so how can soma top bacon.

The Records of The Detective Kiyoshi Mitarai Case 2&3

MC is charming with his whimsical behaviour. A single, unusual lead could lead to meaningful deduction. I do wish to see the cases to be more grounded in nature ( as in less unpredictably circumstances ) but it's still a refreshing take because it doesn't go by the book of both Conan or Kindaichi template.
