Most embargos don't come up until the day the game releases, or the day before at the earliest. Nintendo usually doesn't care and will go even up to a month early. The only problem they still have is the really late video embargos that they still use for some reason.

Oh I thought this was some hyperbole about Destiny review

OP listed Game Informer twice. Got a bit of deja vu while reading. :p

I laughed at the 4/10 review calling it shallow and unlike a Zelda game.

Yeah, but unless Koei or Bamco is willing to make...like...a bionicle musou game or whatever the current lego cartoons on CN are, I don't think there's an american property that fits the formula. Hell, even with all the stuff Zelda Musou has, I still think they could have handled things like mob types and sub bosses a lot better (though that's probably more about dev time than anything else).

Well, Koei has been hinting that they're working on some type of Western property tie-in, even if it may take another year or two before we actually see the fruits of that particular collaboration.

Koei getting in bed with the likes of WB or Disney, so that we could get some type of Marvel or DC Musou going, is one of the easiest answers I could foresee for them keeping up the ante. Or since the new NickToon TMNT has been the first time that Ninja Turtles has actually been relevant in Japan for years, why not that? "Ninja Turtle Musou" would still be a welcome step-up compared to the rest of the shovelware we've gotten these last few years, and maybe we could finally get a decent beat-em-up starring them for the first time in years.

Was expecting reviews like this. Mainline Dynasty Warriors games do not even get good reviews, why were people expecting Hyrule Warriors to get amazing reviews?

Yeah, it's a little hypocritical to see all the love for a game that's a Dynasty Warriors reskin. Let's see them give similar scores to other Warriors titles in the future.

Reviewers: "It's about Zelda? Hmm, 8 out of 10." ... "Dynasty Warriors? Auto-5 out of 10."

Has like 1/10 of the character choice that Orochi 3 has but it plays the chime when you pick up a thing, good game 8/10 get it today

You've missed The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.
...wow

I even own the fucking game.

I expected this game to be ravaged, but seems like most reviewers are quite warm to it.

People have to understand this game is for Musou fan or first timer who want to try musou kinda of game. Not for people who want "cinematic feels", "want to have a story as epic as LOTR, SW". The game know what it's and it doesn't try to fool someone, heck the review even come out early. Some of the reviewer get the point of the game, some don't.
TL;DR : read the Escapist review or watch Jim's squirt play is enough for you to decide.

Not entirely. There are some things that could turn off people that know they like, or think they'll like the gameplay.

Yup, these are totally reviews of the musou games with all the bad reviews having problem with button mashing and brain dead AI.

The Metro score is expected. In their review of Warriors Orochi, they flat out admit that they dislike the warriors games and that they receive hate mail for it.

Innovative gameplay? Now what the hell are they talking about? Also immersive graphics? What the heck?

Though there are some points that do elevate Hyrule Warriors above the Dynasty Warriors games I've played:
(1) The music is way better
(2) The characters, while not so numerous, are extremely varied and no two characters play alike, they are very distinctive
(3) The big enemies are more fun to fight because they have some "strategic" element to them
(4) GamePad + TV for couch coop is a great match (maybe the Wii U Warriors game had that too, but I have not played that)
(5) There are no real stinker arenas, all arenas are quite well made and I've not seen any "barren" arena (the Warriors games I've played before did have some really bleh levels, but also more levels overall)

However, Hyrule Warriors still has the same overly mindless and unrefined gameplay (it doesn't help that I've been playing it alongside Bayonetta 2), loads of repetition and fake difficulty through too strong diligence-reliance (play the same levels again and again to level up your character and gain enogh material to earn new attacks in order to have a chance in the highest difficulty setting). It's very grindy and relaly has most of the weaknesses of the general Warriors series. It trades a lot of volume (in level, mode and character count) for some polish of what is there though, something I personally prefer but not everyone must like.

This thing is out scoring Destiny lol. Never saw that coming. I'm always been interested and can't wait to play it but I I expected more 4-6's out of 10 like most musou games in the west.
It's nice to see.

I think 4 is fair for a bad game (I'm not saying that this game is bad). I believe flat out broken games should get 0's and 1's.

I have to admit, the reviews are better than what I expected overall. Frankly, I'm only interested in this because of the Zelda fanservice, but I'm not sure if I'll actually buy it.

I mean to be honest I've never been able to sit through a Musou game for more than like an hour before tossing it, but I feel like there's enough fanservice here to keep me interested till the end... hopefully. In any case, I'm pretty much getting my money's worth just from playable Ghirahim, Midna, Impa, and Zant. And Zelda and Ganondorf in a non-Smash setting. Now just give me that Groose DLC...

Reviewed it yesterday. Surprisingly addictive. Just can't stop playing.

Please don't judge this game just based on story mode. That's like 30% of it. Then, the game really starts. Looooot.

I'm the exact opposite. :)
Was addicted to the story but my interest dropped immediately after finishing it.

If you don't like Dynasty Warriors you won't like this game as well, but if you like Zelda the story mode is a fun and new experience.

I will pick this up around Christmas or in 2015 (still have to get WW HD, Pikmin 3 etc...). Anyway, this will be my first Warriors game.

I used to play Kessen on my PS2. Is this going to be a similar experience minus the strategic elements such as moving your units on an overview map? Because I still remember controlling the "commanders" of each unit and fighting against hordes of enemies and using basic and special attacks.

Nope, you can't move the npc units in most mainline "Warriors" games, including this one. They move (and get into trouble) by themselves. You only control one warrior and then need to progress the mission, conquer bases or rescue the others based on what's going on in the map.

Yeah, it'll stay $60 for a long time, it might be $50 in a few months, but you aren't going to see $19.99 or anything like that.

You say that and yet Wind Waker hd was $19.99 for the Walmart Anniversary Sale this year in Canada and Mario 3d World was only $29.99....

I wouldn't be surprised to see it for $40 come boxing day

It seems the old adage of Nintendo games almost never going on sale isn't really true anymore, at least for Wii U stuff anyhow. Probably due to how badly it's tanking :(

I bought it yesterday and played the first three stages. Never played a Musou game before, but my first impression is that Hyrule Warriors is a really fun game. Mostly mindless fun, but with a little strategy here and there, and a lot of good Zelda fan service.

Right now, the 4-6 scores seem a bit crazy, but of course I just scratched the surface.

Still hem-hawing over whether I should get it for $70 CAD at launch.

Will the price drop like musou? Or will it stick like Zelda?
