Mars is such a great place to wander around in and the enemies actually keep you on your toes on level 19-20.
How much of this game is actually gear dependant when you reach the end. It must be allot if you actually want to feel like you are making progress instead of being able to do raids and strikes with low level gear.

yeah, same here... I hit 26 this morning when I bought my exotic gauntlets from Xur but it's minimum 28 for Nightfall right?
I already have a highly upgraded Legendary helmet, so I'm not going to bother with it. Holding out for the Exotic Chest Piece or Gauntlets instead.

Yeah, it just makes me sad, considering Bungie basically perfected FPS splitscreen multiplayer with Halo (yes I remember the glory days of Goldeneye). For all of the power and technical wizardry of these new consoles the sacrifice is no more local multiplayer. It's just so....disappointing.

Legendary can drop from blue spheres yeh.. I only ever see blue and green, just want to make sure I'm not missing some exotic one, I have yet to get any legendary gear doing strikes, patrols or pvp , lots of blues but no legends just yet.

Has there been any comment by Bungie regarding the lack of matchmaking in heroics? Lots of people complaining, but I haven't seen nor heard a peep out of them. Really hoping this gets 'fixed' in the near future.
might have to try that, i have a pretty nice rare scout rifle i've been neglecting. same with hand cannon.
Part of me wishes they'd take away awards in PvP. Sick and tired of people posting links of images of the lower placed guys getting loot and forgetting / not linking when it happens to the higher place guys.
The only exotic I've seen drop has been for a top 3 guy.

If bungie wanted this to be a social game, at least for me, they should have at LEAST done one of these 3 things.
1. Make it so there was proximity chat with everyone that you can turn on and off, and make it so there was some kind of text chat in the tower so then I could just post "Guys i'm doing this mission if anyone wants to join" publicly instead of me having to message everyone individually.
2. Make it so there is an in game friends list with in game messaging (separate from the actual PSN/XBL messaging). I'd like to add a lot of the people I play with, but then I have to worry about that friends list filling up (i'm on PS3). Also, I hate trying to message people because the XMB takes FOREVER in game. If there was an in game feature for this kind of stuff, then it would make things so much more convenient.
3. Make it so clans actually mean something in game. Have a clan roster, clan matchmaking maybe, etc.

Blues and less often purple spheres will drop. I've never seen a yellow one.

Plus it's not fair to those who get stuck on guard duty who never get to see as much action as those patrolling the map.

You will never miss them because Purple and Blue engrams go to you post offices in the town even if you miss it on the planets.
The game itself saves all drops to you even if you don't see or take it.

What's the point of all that tho? That boss is only hard when a crap ton of mobs are trying to take you down at the same time the boss is blasting you with his lasers. Once the enemies are dead it's very hard to die to him unless you're standing out in the open asking to die

Anyone know what the benefit of doing a straight up level 20 story mission is? They show no rewards. The daily story and strike playlist and such show vanguard rewards, but story missions seem to offer no guaranteed benefit like that. Can anyone think of a good reason to do do those higher level story missions?

I'm fine with the reward being based on participation rathern than contribution. It would be nice though if the MVP of each team got a reputation reward as a bonus.
XP and the hope of a decent drop I guess.

I have yet to see a level 30 ingame, has anyone got exotics in all there slots yet? I would imagine that's something bungie would praise.

But you get a guaranteed vanguard drop with a strike playlist, so I guess I'm trying to figure out why I would do a 20 story mission over that? Would be cool if they had a large gain or something. Plus I get xp in the strike as well.

Don't feel bad, not a single purple I have ever looted has given me anything I can use for my class.
Do strikes until you have full l20 gear (from the l24 strike), while doing that, work on your rep and marks for the week.
You get guaranteed legendaries at ranks 3+ with the factions, and you can buy all the legendaries you need at ranks 2/3 with every faction.
If you get awesome stuff from the cryptarch, great, but you don't have to rely on it to gear up.
