Cardcaptor Sakura 44-46
So Kero has finally evolved to his true form, and
to his true, slightly more dickish form.
I've enjoyed the first two seasons, and with all the cards captured and Sakura declared the new master, I'm not really sure where things can go from here. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

That world without love was weird. The use of music over dialogue and the empty atmosphere made everything feel really off-balance. Having Kaho be there to provide an extra life for Sakura makes sense - the bell did basically cheat them out of the Maze - and I liked how the Final Judgment went. Man, the cards are kinda petty when someone loses the Judgment, it's lucky this series has the concept of destiny or Sakura would be potentially screwed.

Looks like we're back to regular, peaceful episodes for a while. The stakes aren't necessarily huge, though Lucy's weird pheromones in regards to the animal kingdom feels like something from the days of King Kong. The original one. As long as Virgo's around, that means more sarcastic Miyukichi, so I'm happy about that. As for that scene at the end with Mavis and Zeref, not sure exactly when the "final battle" is going to come. Or how final it's going to be.

Damn i was away from GAF for the whole day ..i guess i shouldn't have spend my day putting together combo battles videos for various games.

The first two arcs in Sunday Without God were pretty good I thought, but the ones after that, not so much. I enjoyed it, but really felt it was wasted potential.

My little brother loved Kill la Kill so now we're watching Gurren Lagann together. Man, the opening scene in episode 1, the visuals and music and everything still give me goosebumps. I forgot almost everything beside the main plot points so cant wait to start the rewatch.

That was great, but I liked the racing segment the best. I love Carnival Phantasm, wish someone would give it a BD release over here.

Yeesh, that flashback scene with Ohana and her mother had Okada written aaaaaaaaaaaall over it.
Wasn't digging Ohana as the lead until she stepped up and told Minko and Nako to fuck off with their bullshit, albeit in the lightest way possible. She got points in my book for that. Still not sure about her going forward though. She wants to prove herself as a hard worker, so she almost makes Tohru crash the van and then runs off to take the train back to the inn, ergo completely leaving him alone to do the task he requested her hel with. What? Then she starts reading that dude's book after she digs yp the papers she threw out (I do admit I lold at her realizing what he was writing). We'll see, I guess.

The balance is somewhere in there. It's an okay show, but the constant drama gets a bit old...
Why is he even doing that? What did he expect to find?
Yeah that pretty much describes how I feel about the show right now. I'll keep watching it because of Hana. It's really not that great though.

I was reading through all these Terra Formars impressions, and for just a moment wondered why they didn't reframe or alter the violent scenes so they wouldn't have to be censored so badly. Then I remembered it's probably to sell uncut disc versions.

I don't know that life's questions are all answered by unzipping a woman's bosom. Maybe I'm wrong on that, but I think you could get in trouble for that.
So the group is on the run because aliens instigated a nuclear war on Mars, causing the Soviets and Americans to murder each other. We're talking they checked for shelters and people had gunned each other down in a run for the bomb shelters bleak. Anyway these kids are on the run, because they witnessed the aliens and if they make it to Earth Earth will be warned.
So they're in this last refuge with nothing to eat and no fuel to escape and they stumble across enough stuff to make stew. The girl who made the stew suggested they all take off their space suits and have a moment of fun in what is a living nightmare. Everybody complied.
The doctor and the hero are out in another room trying to reach Earth, and come back in. The kid wanted doc to take off her spacesuit. Why he walked up and did it himself is anybody's guess.
TL;DR they were trying to take their minds off bad things and get informal for a meal. Kid was trying to make the uptight doc participate when "SURPRISE I DON'T HAVE A SHIRT ON UNDER HERE."
The twist is way better than that. You're not even trying.

*scratches head* Aren't they maintaining integrity by not toning down the violence? Wouldn't you rather be able to eventually watch it uncut than have it toned down?
That's one possibility...OR you could just avoid that trash altogether.

I don't really follow Akane's logic for what Makishima was actually up to, and frankly the whole setup seems a little contrived in the end. is Masaoka suddenly a better fighter than Kogami and Makishima? that dynamite also had the most easily lit, shortest fuse ever, and the tiny blast radius makes the whole affair seem pointless.

Well, they clearly saved their good storyboarding and best animators for this episode, making for a pretty satisfying conclusion. The part in particular where Winds, Birds, and Sky starts playing is still great.
Lodoss is interesting in its status as a "classic" anime in the west, where it was one of the first anime for many fans. It has really appealing character designs and art direction, and a classic fantasy story. Nonetheless, it still has a number of flaws relating to production issues and some bad storyboarding.
I feel like Record of Lodoss War is a series that's ripe for the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 treatment at some point.
