Half my posts are probably shameless promotion for seinen romance manga. The 'well, shit happens' kind.

Sprinkle with some Hinamatsuri + Alice in Borderland.

Toaru Ossan no VRMMO Katsudouki ch4

I remember in the first Baldur's Gate where bears would turn aggressive for no fucking reason and murder the shit out of you if you stray from the path at the beginning of the game.

Good times.

Glass Mask Vol. 4

So we saw the end of the "Growing Up" arc, I wasn't too into the focus on Ayumi interpretation of the play, but it worked really well in hindsight as a way to build up the audience to both the play and how meaningful small changes to an interpretation of a play can be to create a whole different experience with the same story.

Right now we're on the National competition story arc, Ikkakuju had a very interesting display and Undine tried to one-up Tsukikage theater and Maya by having Ayumi go to the extent of losing weight to perform her role.

The Volume ends with the set of Tsukikage being destroyed, I'm assuming Ikkakuju will help them solve the issue since the arc felt like it was building to that. There was very little focus on Maya interpretation during this arc this time around, so it feels like a good change of pace.

Yay!

Man, if you think maya is pushed to near death already, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Also tsukikage is super selfish in her desire to have maya inherit her will in a way but maya is equally desperate to fulfill her dreams. She can push herself just as hard. It's kind of a weird, mutually beneficial relationship.

Can't wait for you to hit vol 4-5. While I love the beginning those volumes I feel are the first truly AMAZING ones.

I'm very curious to see how exactly Maya will push herself further more than she already did!

Tsukikage already comes off as an abusive relation, I can't imagine if Maya wasn't "into it" so to say. I'm wondering how their relationship will evolve as both characters start getting closer to their goals.

I'll be reading Vol. 5 later today or tomorrow, Vol. 4 impressions are up as you surely noticed already :p

I was sleeping! (And so was panda I imagine)
Come back when we're not asleep!

You were the one to invite me to go though!
I'll be sure to stop by there more often.

Kanata no Togabito ga Tatakau Riyuu 01

A pair of chuunibyous run around claiming they are famous people from history given a second chance at life attacking evil wraiths attacking modern day life.

Oh wait, it's not chuunibyous but actually historical people, now given a chance to clean their sins, blah blah blah

So very much like FS/N or whatever just without Shirou ruining everything. It feels kinda light hearted despite all this claim of getting a second chance at life. So not bad.

Sora no Shita Yane no Naka 1-26 (End)

High school graduate NEET looks for a job, and all the struggles that come with it. I feel like if I had read this while looking for a job, it would've only made me depressed. It was a nice read though.

Mazinger Otome / Taisen 1-14 (END)
This was worth the brain to my damage. Ludicrously silly comedy series about the daily lives and battles of anthropomorphised (female) Mazinger robots. The humour and sheer stupidity really clicked with me, despite (or perhaps partially because of) my dislike of mecha. Only real regret was Team Rocket not getting a resolution, which may or may not stem from character design bias towards one of them. Overall, one of the more pleasant surprises for a while.

Suzuka 0-30

So I just wasted two and a half hours of my life reading this.

The bathhouse setting is just a really contrived way to see the various female characters naked. I don't get why the MC always needs to be fiddling with the heater when there are girls in the bath either? And does he not know that the walls are paper thin enough for Suzuka to be able to hear his lamentations over her?

The characters are all static as shit. The shrine girl just wallows in her own angst of "oh shit, the guy I like, who I've been stalking on and off for 5 years but have just been too chickenshit to approach with anything resembling an actual conversation, likes someone else", the aunt can be summed up by her interactions with feeding her cat, the cousin is basically "geez~~ onii-chan (or onee-chan, as the translators have had it lol) is so helpless without me~~~ I can't wait until we get married so that I can be shackled with this useless sack of shit for the rest of my life officially~~~ except just kidding my name's not Suzuka" incarnate, the one college chick is obsessed with her own boobs and the other surprisingly has had actual development but oh wait, it's love related again.

It's like no one in this manga has talked about anything other than love. Yeah, there's the track and field aspect, but even that's been mired in a love story now, with the MC stalking her to there because he obviously can't handle rejection, and Suzuka having the whole dead boyfriend thing going for her. Even MC's best friend, who supposedly is a ladies' man, has zero exploits of his own (in fact all of the other girls ignore the shit out of him in favor of the MC), and has just been relegated to giving love advice. Seriously, he and the MC have spent more time talking about love than actual shoujo manga characters have.

As you can tell, I'm not the biggest fan of the MC. He's spineless, joined the track team while insisting that Suzuka's hunch that he's not serious and will probably flake is wrong, and proves her right 5 chapters later (really, why the hell wasn't he given more shit for that, especially since it's a "serious" club?). There's also a difference between persistence and fucking stalking a girl who rejected you to her club. Isn't that borderline, if not outright harassment? As for Suzuka, she's pretty much the master of mixed signals. And you fall in love with a guy just because he can run? Seriously?

I'm pretty sure I had more to say, but I think I'm beginning to repress the memory of reading these chapters, because I can't remember what happened.

Holy shit would I want a anime adaption of The Breaker and New Waves. Just seeing those action scenes animated would be fuckin awesome. Would want Madhouse to do it, but atlas it probably will never happen.

Also another reason for the adaption would be her.

Yeah Jinnie you are the bomb. Hope she wins in the end.

You know damn well that's not going to happen.

If anyone, he'll choose the useless girl from his school, thereby pissing off nearly every reader because he didn't choose Jinnie or Sera.

I still have a bit of hope for Jinnie since you know that Tsundere's usually win in most cases. And she's actually a great Tsundere and a redhead to top it all off.

But yeah I sure as hell wouldn't want him to hook up with Sae chan. Like she's useless and hasn't been important throughout the series. She's more like a throwaway fodder character. Also add to the fact she would slow him down while he's a Murim and she's just a normal civilian. There will definitely be lots of rage if that does happen.

time to get back into the series.

im at the chapter where
the protagonist finally talks to the nine arts dragon guy from the first series.

Man you really need to read the second series. In the beginning it may be slow, but damn does it pick up it's pace. It's really good.

its honestly not worth it. the first breakers was god tier in terms of everything. after that, it just dwindled down into a stupid mess.

Hmmm it seems we have differing opinions :(

Oh well I still believe the sequel is great.

Well just to warn the chapters will be in the 13-15 page range for the time being. It seems after the 4 week break they took to figure out where to take the story 2 of there art staff quit.

So they are trying to find replacements. So with this going on the chapters will be short. It seems to be real tough to being a manga artist in Korea compared to Japan. When they took the 4 week break they were not paid.

My bad, I'm just mad cause of Boys on the Run, Ch. 28 really got me. Its still a great series nonetheless but it doesn't shine like it used to. It felt unique from typical shounen/martial arts manga but it eventually fell into the same cycle. Its not bad, but its not what it used to be, also what the hell happened to all the other characters? Plus, the pacing has suffered tremendously.

As for the other character like Sae chan I could careless, but I still do miss Hyuk and Sosul. Though really the second series focuses on Shioon, Jinnie, Sunwoo clan, and Sera mostly. Which I actually prefer since they are great characters.

But yeah I'll agree on that the sequel isn't on par as the first series. Though it's still great.

The weird adventures of a weird person working at a convenience store.

And it is amazing. Super stoke it is being translated now. The best kind of black comedy I have ever seen yet.
