Halo: Master Chief Collection Multiplayer Playlists Revealed

Deadly Cyclone

Looks like each game will have at least one dedicated playlist, along with a handful of mixed playlists. Should be fun to try to play Halo 1 then Halo 3 in back to back games.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/10...-day-multiplayer-playlists-revealed-ign-first

  • Team Halo 2: Anniversary
Play a mix of Team Slayer and objective game types on re-mastered maps. 4v4.
  • Halo 2: Anniversary Rumble
Challenge seven other opponents on re-mastered maps. This is your fight and yours alone. 8-player Free-For-All.
  • Team Halo 2: Anniversary Social
Play with a team in unranked Team Slayer and objective game types on re-mastered maps. 5v5.
  • Team Slayer
Eliminate the enemy team across four Halo games: Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 2: Anniversary. Nothing but Team Slayer, 24/7. 4v4.
  • Big Team Battle
Battle it out in 16-player warfare with vehicles across Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4, and Halo 2: Anniversary. 8v8.
  • Halo: Combat Evolved
The game that started it all. Play a mix of Slayer and objective game types in Halo: Combat Evolved for the first time on Xbox Live. 4v4.
  • Halo 2 Classic
It’s back. A mix of the most popular Team Slayer and objective game types from the original Halo 2. 4v4.
  • Halo 3
A selection of fan-favorite Team Slayer and objective game types from Halo 3. 4v4.
  • Halo 4
A mix of Team Slayer and objective game types from Halo 4, on a selection of small to medium-sized maps. 5v5.
  • Team Hardcore
A collection of tournament-approved game types from Halo 2 and Halo 3. The Battle Rifle is your primary weapon. 4v4.
  • Halo eSports
The official Halo eSports playlist. 4v4.
  • SWAT (Rotational)
Aim for the head! A collection of SWAT game types on our favorite maps from Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4, and Halo 2: Anniversary. Players have no shields and are equipped with rifles. 4v4.

Also, via Frank (for you 2v2/Team Doubles fans, and fans of other gametypes):
Dun worry there will be weekly rotational lists and consistent updates.

  • Big Team Battle
Battle it out in 16-player warfare with vehicles across Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4, and Halo 2: Anniversary. 8v8.

This is all that matters right here, the rightful gametype of Halo and Lan parties everywhere! As long as they mix a lot more objective games and it doesn't just turn into Big Team Slayer the Playlist.

No dedicated objective mode makes me sad.

Problem with a mix is that slayer is by the far the most popular option.

I don't think it should be a rotational playlist either.

Also why not just Rumble incorporating all the games?

This sounds so disjointed. Each Halo game is similar in play but are different. I can't see myself playing Beaver Creek Halo 1 and then a Halo 3 map like High Ground right after. I think I'll be playing them separately.

I like most of these playlists outside of a few minor things.

1- I'd like to have BTB Objective and Slayer separated (keep that filthy slayer stuff out of the superior objective games).

2- Why no Halo CE in SWAT?

3- Hardcore and eSports seem a bit redundant

I intend to only play these ranked playlists with HaloGAF, who can vote on CTF Beaver Creek over TS Colossus

That's why there are dedicated playlists for each game as well.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
WHY THE HELL CAN THERE NOT BE A DEDICATED OBJECTIVE PLAYLIST?!

Here's the deal - all I want is BTB Objective. Really, if it were me, I'd choose to have 1-Bomb Assault and 1-Flag CTF on Headlong and Zanzibar all day, e'ry day. But I know that's never going to happen.

So a dedicated BTB Objective would be nice; but I know even that's too greedy.

But hell... 4 player, 8 player, 16 player... and I don't even care if they rotate the games as much as I'd prefer to stick with just H2. But please, why can't we get an objective-only playlist?

I know it's just a game, but that seriously depresses me.

Seems pretty good. There are only so many playlists you can have before the community suffers. Titanfall is a victim of that right now.

I'm kind of disappointed that they can't just have a separate list of playlist for each game, and then have the option to mix if you want. Going from one game to a completely different game is going to feel weird as shit. Also, is there going to be a way to filter out the games you don't want to play? I've got not interest in playing Halo 4.

so.... good....

Oh so YOU'RE the guy who always voted for 1 bomb ctf. :p

Huh, interesting. I'll probably spend the vast majority of my time in Team Halo 2: Anniversary, the game-specific playlists, and custom games.

Seconded. Some of the best objective gametypes I've ever played and they avoid it like ebola.

Awww yeahhh. I'm not really bothered about the playlists... I just like being reminded that this is a thing that's happening. BTB, SWAT and Team Slayer are pretty much all I need.

Wasn't there supposed to be a "CE Classic" without fuel rod guns and stuff? I hope "classic" isn't the ONLY way to play halo-1 style. There better be some way to play with fuel rod guns...fuel rod only was some good fun. Such satisfying sounds.

Custom games only maybe?

Also kinda surprised at the lack of multi-team. They even talked about how perfect the new H2A Warlock map would be for 2v2v2v2 in the IGN map walkthrough video.

Edit: Just read the updated OP. Maybe it'll be a rotational.

big team battle and CTF are all that is fun.

all the other playlists are campfests.
Player behavior is affected by a lot more than just what gametype you're playing. Like, certain maps seem to encourage camping, as does radar. Maybe you're thinking of Infection? Your statement doesn't really make sense to me.

Some of the playlists sound good, but I'm still a little apprehensive about switching between the different Halo games within the same playlist

3- Hardcore and eSports seem a bit redundant

...Why? Competitive gamers like to play competitive maps, so a playlist of the maps which will be used in tournaments is great for player preference as well as practise

Since there is a limit of modes feasible in this game we need to step up and bring custom games back full force.
Hell yes. I'm hoping to see HaloGAF customs become a weekly event again.
