How about this: games by metascore NOT available on the other console:
Code:
score PS4 Xbox
90+ 3 2
80+ 21 3

The sad thing is that the 80+ score also includes the 90+ games (obviously), so it's really bad for Xbox exclusives, if you only compare Xbox One and PS4.

I might be off one or two (counting is hard) but check for yourself:
http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/release-date/available/ps4/metascore
http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/release-date/available/xboxone/metascore

Looking at both of the lists, it really reminds me why I hardly play my PS4. Majority of those games I played and finished a year ago, the rest are indies. Even though I appreciate indies, I can't really convince someone to buy a new console so they can play Towerfall Ascension. I have a friend thats into fighting games, i cant tell him to buy a PS4 to play old Injustice when the brand new Killer Instinct is available for XB1 only. Im a racing game fanatic, and though Driveclub is great I wouldnt choose that over Forza 5 or Horizon 2

And then when you look at the holidays, its just multiplatform games. LBP and Driveclub are the only exclusives, thats pretty sad. While on the Xbox I have a lot more to look forward too e.g. FH2, D4, Sunset Overdrive, Ori etc.

PS4 will get better in the future but i definitely dont think the lineup is that great ATM

Let's see:
- a shooter remake that I already played (at least half of it)
- a shooter for teenagers
- a racing game
- a shooter I played (actually it's free on PC right now)

Nothing interesting for me.

Yet you have done your best to defend ''a racing game'' Drive Club from nasty reviews. Not to mention suggesting somebody be banned for forming an opinion on games they haven't played.

You seem like a hypocrite.

...and here it is again? Why are you counting downloadable titles and company exclusives (and games that are also on PC) for one side but ignoring it for the other side?

Without even clicking on the link I'm going to guess that Sunset Overdrive is the only game they tout that I actually can't play if I don't own an Xbox One.

When measuring libraries, since I figure that I'll eventually own all this hardware I think it's better to judge them by "best versions."

So as of right now, when comparing libraries, PS4 has Ground Zeroes. Xbox One has it as well, as does PS3 and 360, but on release I could only really care about the PS4 version as it's the best version by a significant amount. But then we have the PC release that's been announced, basically making the PS4 release insignificant. Similarly, Forza Horizon 2 and Master Chief Collection are clear Xbox One games (despite versions roughly being on 360), and Dead Rising 3 is no longer a notable Xbox One game.

There's a couple more, like Killer Instinct and Kinect Sports Rivals, but mostly you're right.
Assuming the Halo ports don't count

I have a PS4 and like it a lot, but I'm certainly still looking for a reason to buy an Xbone eventually. Only thing that I really see is Quantum Break.

Number of games per platform by Metacritic score:

Code:
score PS4 Xbox
90+ 5 2
80+ 43 19
75+ 66 38

lol. There is so much predictable salt in these threads. Microsoft can't run ads that say 'we have the most powerful game console' because they would be crucified by gamers in the know. So alternatively, they run an ad that says 'we have the best exclusives' which is subjectively true, yet soldiers feel the need to swoop in and fight the good fight. It is genuinely hilarious, and I laughed out loud when I entered this thread and read the responses of some people.

I don't know what the critique is here. Is the rebuttal, "well, Sony has 5 games that scored 90+, even though 3 can be played on Xbox consoles and the other 2 are remakes from last gen"? Is the rebuttal, "Well, Sony has 43 games at 80+, even though the majority of those games are also found on Xbox consoles or can be played on a 6 year old laptop?" This is such a flawed comparison for so many reasons (ie. NFS Rivals is 80 on PS4, but 75 on Xbox for reasons).

Ultimately the PS4 and Xbox both have some great exclusives, and these blanket lists do fuck all other than provoke senseless arguments. Microsoft is playing to it's strengths with this ad. It has FM2, which has now officially reviewed better than Driveclub and is one of the most recognized game series' around. Sony has no other first-party exclusives this holiday season, so Microsoft is trying to hit them where they are vulnerable. It's a good strategy IMO, and it's better than when they try to advertise 1080P/60FPS like they did with Forza last year.

Gaw! That graphic hurts my damn eyes! So much going on, with not one focal point! Sensory overload achieved, good game microsoft graphic design.
The market shows people like to bitch about numbers. Sales, P's, DLC content, multiplayer count, sequels.... Just giving the people what they want.

Good move by MS. Focusing on games instead of hardware, that is their strong suit right now (and ideally should be everyone's focus).

How can that ever be objectively true?

All this thread has done for me is make me realize the amazing amount of great content we have received on BOTH consoles in the first year alone.

PS4 / XB1 have no games plz....

I see very little on that list that interests me. Yet I'm buying an Xbox One anyway because it's the only way I can play Halo 2 online against a decently sized player base. Sigh.

Also, don't understand the Sunset Overdrive hype. Game doesn't look that fun to me, and the "lol look how much cooler we are than other games, everything else is a dudebro shooter amirite" reveal trailer just struck me as smarmy.

I just bought an Xbox One just for FH2. Let's not kid ourselves here.

Out of those four games, one is a remake of a shooter(s) that everyone has already played to death and whose formula has run stale a long time ago, another looks promising but is made by a developer whose track record was utterly shit last gen and finally, we have a multiplayer-only game that can be bought for cheaper on the PC and whose community has long ago dwindled into insignificance.

I hope you are referring to Titanfall on pc because on Xbox one the game has a very healthy community. I have played since launch without an issue and still see new players all the time.

Bash the graphic all you want but ps4 is a dust collector for me. I use my xb1 everyday and cannot name a single game I'm buying for ps4 this year since the last of us.

The hate is strong in here lol.

I'm loving the exclusive lineup both this year and especially next year, good stuff coming. Love my PS4 and feel the same about my Xbone. No regrets =)

I learned something new from this infographic - X1 gets DA:I's DLC first. Not a fan of the practice, for the record. But I'm not immune to its effect either.

Certainly can't play the Master Chief collection elsewhere.

And no, playing the originals does not count.

Also you can play a Forza Horizon on the 360, but it certainly isn't the same as Forza Horizon 2 on the X1.

I wish I could feel that way about my X1. It's currently collecting dust. :( I want to love it. Despite all the negative things about MS over the past 5 years, there is still something charming about the MS brand. Maybe it's nostalgia (since I got a 360 at launch, and used it for the majority of my gaming last gen). But I really want to love this system.

We need more gamers like you.

Unfortunately, not all gamers can afford all the systems. I think opinions on each system would be less harsh if everyone actually owned each one. But I agree some of the negativity is a bit much. Thing is, not everyone buys a system purely for specs. You buy it for the UI/OS, the systems platform, the controller, and the first party titles. It's a bunch of factors. I think MS deserves the criticism though of focusing away from games when designing the system, and being behind Sony (especially when X1 cost more than PS4 at launch). It sucks for everyone, because third party titles are never going to be pushed as far as they could have been, because they always have to keep it within the range of the X1. And as we are seeing time and time again, these titles don't want to be 10x better on the competitors system. So they won't take full use of the PS4. So in a way, the X1's design can kind of be blamed for the limiting barriers this gen.

So I can understand the frustration towards MS, especially since they've done some pretty questionable things in the last 5 years. So I actually get the negativity. But people should just understand that some people really love the X1. They love the system, the OS/UI and the upcoming titles. And all things aside, it's a pretty great device. It's just IMO, not that good if you own multiple systems. Which is the problem I'm going through right now. I can't seem to justify me ever using it, as the PS4 and hell even the Wii U/3DS offers better things currently.

Opposite for me. Only game I've played since bought the titanfall bundle is horizon and bought D4.

As it stands the really good games are multiplatform. All the exclusives are pretty much mediocre apart from horizon 2. And they all play better on ps4. Xbox is on all the time though because as a media player it's fantastic. Glad it's finally getting some games. Prob changed batteries in the controller 3x since April.

Considering it's on the xbox.com domain it's probably safe to say that this one in particular was made by MS for an email or something, and not made by some random user on reddit trying to convince themselves they made a good decision buying a console.

you would think so, but it's not for far too many.

The flop that is Destiny (imo obviously) failed to scratch my Halo itch like I thought it would.

MS is really making it hard on me to not pick up a XB1 over the holidays

Stuff like "MS exclusive" is just made up to fluff up lists. Exclusive means you can't get it anywhere else.
I agree with this, it should only be on one system, which is the point of an exclusive. If I can get it on another system then it's not exclusive. What's the point of getting the X1 version if I can get it on my PC or vice verse? An exclusive should force you to buy the console/system it's on since it's the only way to play the game.

Why ? because you say so ? its the same games , it just came out later as a compilation. So does that mean FF13 is exclusive to PC ? I wonder what spin you can put on that ?

Well that's... kind of sad.

Developed in part by SCE Japan Studio, so basically.

A game is either a first party title or it's not. Bloodbourne is not.

Uhhh... Tell that to the two first-party Victorian era third person action games dropping in the same month.
^So this guy's original comment about two victorian first party titles is false. If he went back and amended his statement to "a Victorian first party title and a Victorian basically first party title" then maybe it'd be an alright comment. Maybe.

Jeez, so particular, man. I called Bloodborne first-party, because although From is doing the heavy lifting, the IP is owned by Sony. So if they wanted to (and I pray they're never this stupid), they could theoretically kick From off the sequel and be like "Nah, we got dis!"

But yea, no one wants that.

off topic: is there a thread where i can discuss my problem with the xbox i just got? it doesnt continue to download when i turn it off even though ive selected 'instant on' power mode.

I had that. There is actually an option in settings about network when console is off. its not ticked by default. bit stupid but there you go.
