Just thought, this could mean directly buying games from clicking on web ads, very clever
Just turned on my WiiU again & Kirby Super Star is installed! So, looks like it did redeem correctly. Got the normal confirmation email No download yet. Any word if the site will redeem a code & download to a 3DS?So, I just redeemed Kirby Super Star. Got the confirmation page. Now waiting for the download
Yep, I can confirm it is working. The site is barebones & the only working thing is the redeem page. Nintendo will probably take it offline once it gets out that people are using it before Nintendo was readywait, so this is already working?
wait, so this is already working?
Well, outside having some parts of it on a production server!
Please check that the page has not been deleted, moved, or made inaccessible.

Maybe this means Europe will get TVii too!
I'm still bitter about the Tvii promise, damn you Nintendo

So, it seems the download starts only when the device is in stand-by mode, not when it's fully turned on (like when you're playing something else), right? We need to try on 3DS too.
I wouldn't say only in standby just yet. My console was only on for a short while and I have no idea when or how frequently the download list pings the server to check for new additions. It's possible that had I left it on a little longer it would have eventually started.
But yeah, someone definitely has to check 3DS ASAP. If no one has after the Club Nintendo rewards are updated and something catches my eye, I'll do it, but I'm sure someone else can/will sooner.
I can't figure out the format. However, I did manage to get EU Wii U games working. The DDP website also uses a 14 character format for its icons so borrowing that and changing the US to GB we get the following:^
Well, could try getting the icons for some games using the URL above and changing the ID?
Pretty funny they put a button to redeem download code on a 404 page. Rather... random. I'd understand if it was an actual eShop page not loading properly or something...

https://eshop.nintendo.net/image/GB/en/title/20010000004464/icon
That is the NES remix icon. Looking at the numbers there there is no pattern except chronological release leads to higher numbers.
There is a difference. The ones at the eshop URL are png images whilst the ones are the DDP site are JPEG images.
A US NNP user could probably do the same there. It is not terribly helpful, I know but it does suggest that title ID was a possible red herring.
Just to get a good perspective on the matter, how does this work when you buy games on SOE's site (where you can access the PS Store)? I mean, does the download starts istantly, right after you've completed the transition on the website, on your PS4? Wheter it's on or in stand-by mode?
If they actually let us purchase codes for any eShop game that would be amazing -- and the code redemption system seems to indicate that might be how it'll work.
I don't understand why you can't do that with PSN, for example.
This is great. Hopefully we can redeem WiiU themes via codes too....
Doesn't work in Germany. Page says it's not available in my country.
Yesssss, I'm stupid excited for this!! I think it's a safe bet it'll be announced at the investor meeting later this month, since that's where Iwata kept talking about it.
When's the investor meeting?
Guess I missed that news
But what I mean is a Web eShop where you can purchase codes for any game. Thought maybe the fact they have this redemption system in place is alluding to being able to buy codes online and then redeem them immediately.
Seriously , been waiting for this for ages. The holidays are coming up too, would be the perfect time .Please allow gifting of games Nintendo. Ugh.

Last year Nintendo completely failed the timing of the 3DS eShop NNID update where all 3DS owners had to perform the sign-up/log-in process in order to access it. The web eShop hopefully doesn't involve a similar mandatory action from millions of 3DS owners at the same time so the stress should be lower I supposeHeh, I hope the servers will be able to hold this time around... last year, they were out for almost an entire week.

Oh yeah, I remember about that. It was the main reason the servers were down for so long, besides the usual Christmas overload.
Oh, and Pokémon Bank in Japan too
Hopefully, they don't pull something similar this year, like a Zelda U demo on the Wii U eShop or something
I was mistaken here. Both are JPEG, the quality is higher on the eshop ones for some reason. But there isn't much you can do to help a 72*72 3DS game icon though (the quality of these and zooming in to see artefacts made me notice this). There is a difference. The ones at the eshop URL are png images whilst the ones are the DDP site are JPEG images.
