Max Settings? I certainly can't with a 780 Ti over here.
Yeah I have everything turned up at the moment and everything has been pretty smooth for me.

Ever heard of Phineas Gage?

I hear this game is really brutal on machines. Should I even bother?
I tried downsampling on Alien and I must be blind but the game looked the same :/ I also tried on Batman Oranges benchmark and I lost like 20frames, and the game still looked the same, so I didnt bother trying to downsample other games
Again, Im sure the problem is on my end, sicne everyone seems to rave about downsampling
Some people just don't notice fluctuations in framerate, I suppose they're lucky!Max Settings? I certainly can't with a 780 Ti over here.
Anyone fixed the FOV/camera if you remove the black bars? Also a Sli profile? I've had some gains using Metro redux, enough to usually keep it 60 and above, but this games frames seem all over the joint.
theres no way to make it so you dont have to set 60fps everytime you launch the game right?
Ah thanks for this.r_skipglare 1 in the console does the same thing. 0 re-enables the effect.
What sorcery is this?!Yeah I have everything turned up at the moment and everything has been pretty smooth for me.

And downsampling in this game makes a massive difference. At 1080P there is shimmering on every damn thing but at 3200x1800 it's heavily reduced and the IQ is actually close to good. Plus it brings out more details on the character models.
Any ideas what could be causing the FRAPs issue? I'm getting 60 FPS, but it stutters when the FRAPS overlay isn't there. When the overlay IS there, it's silky smooth.

Anyone who has a 21:9 monitor, can you test this out? I don't have the game so can't try it myself, but might solve your black bars problem.
Set your scaling settings like this in the NVCP
Then set the in game resolution to 1920x1080 if you have a 1920x810 monitor, or 2560x1440 if you have a 2560x1080 monitor.
Report back if that gets you full screen monitor usage with no black bars?
just a space. make sure you put a + before both commands.
I'm going to go try forcing vsync in NVidia's drivers to see if that resolves the whole frame pacing issue.
Intro command doesn't work and neither did administration. Updated Steam didn't work, nvidea driver is up-to-date.
Though, it seems like it'll crash faster with no intro command and at one point foe 1 second, heard the Beth intro; with intro command, loads a few more seconds, then goes fullscreen all in black, only then to go back to desktop with that message with that driver message
*sigh*

The latest driver is 344.16. 344.16 specifically mentions The Evil Within in the release notes.

Said latest DirectX runtime version is 11.0.Err, may be me, since I'm hopped up on sleeping pills but isn't the game DX11 for video card minimum, and the GTX260 seems to be listed at DX10 only?
My 260 doesn't have that update. 340.52 is the highest it can go.The latest driver is 344.16. 344.16 specifically mentions The Evil Within in the release notes.
Disappointed so far with the graphics. Which is the best AA option? Should i remove the grain filter?

I think the MLAA option is a tad better than SMAA. The straps on Sebastian's back were less jaggy with MLAA rather than SMAA. As for the grain, that's up to you
Yeah, it's fucking BIZARRE. No idea how something like that happens. Few others in this thread reported it, as well. Wondering if they might have found a fix.
grief.exe posted this. it works.
Just putting the vsync command in your startup options in Steam works for achievements too. So long as you don't activate the console or any cheats, the graphical options (and skip opening cutscenes) don't stop achievements.
SMAA is less destructive to texture detail AFAIK, but it's a little bit more intensive. So it depends on what you'd rather have... less jaggies or more texture detail.
Can we ALL pretty much agree that the recent PC specifications put forth by Bethesda and Warner were greatly exaggerated?
My card does have 11...is there like a difference between patched in and imbedded versions? Its a Directx 11 only game. It wont work on your card whatever you try. Same with Shadow of Mordor. Time to get a new card.

It might be saying your OS supports it, or you have it installed, but the GTX 260 is a DirectX10 card.
I see now. Basically this means I'll have to upgrade now then before WItcher 3...crap. -____-Your OS will say it is DX 11. But your card or any GTX 2xx series card is not DX 11 supported. So none of the DX 11 only games will work. No mods can fix it. It is an entirely different development pipeline. My friend with GTX 285 wasn't even able to launch Shadow of Mordor.

Oh that what I meant "Before Witcher 3" but I heard there was a rumored 8VRAM version in the work and might be released before Wild Hunt. I know the 350 price point but I can't spend that kind of money now. Thinking of just get the cheapest card in the city for now since surely it'll be DX11 and simply more powerful then what I got now.If you can snag a GTX 970 they're great value at the moment. Even if your card did support DirectX11 I can't imagine it would run The Witcher 3 very well though.
anyone able to find commands that allow further tweaking and modifying graphic settings? specific how to modify:
shadow resolution
texture resolution
model LOD detail
eg. r_lod etc. , i see many lod , texture commands.
thanks!
Anybody found out who developed the port yet?
JaseC, you said that it went live internationally earlier today, but the Australian page still says it's got hours to go.
I know someone with pretty much exactly this setup. Let me know how 720p works out please!
