Dont think anyone except patcher expected XB1 to sell more in September. Now October and November might be up for grabs. Competition is great.

Not a chance for October. Even for November I begin to think it's unlikely, let's see how big the gap is this month first.

Do people just not read huge bolded parts of the OP?

Game sales that were bundled with a system are not counted.

A shit ton of ps4's were sold in September, with a bunch of them (presumably) being the Destiny bundled white ones, therefore those are not counted here.

Seems people just go and see what they want and overlook the rest just to hit the reply button as fast as possible

Reading posts is too hard apparently.

Yikes at no Forza Horizon 2.

Microsoft could do something similar to the Sega GT/Jet Set Radio Future bundle on the Original Xbox but with Forza Horizon 2/Sunset Overdrive.

Well done.

Forza Horizon 2 didn't chart, is that bad or good?

Well it isn't good, hard to say if it's bad. Forza Horizon 2 launched on Sept. 30th. NPD's measurement period for Sept is actually Aug. 31-Oct 4.

So five full days of FH2 sales should be included in the NPD numbers.

I can see why Destiny is #1 on Xbox One, it was given away and the copy in the PS4 Destiny bundle didn't count.

Nothing! I said nothing!
Amazing Destiny performance on XB1. Amazing PS4 sales. The fact Destiny bundles don't count is irrelevant, it sold more to the current base, that's big news and not something I though possible.

All this means is that were more new XBox One adopters than there were people who already owned PS4 and bought Destiny. Not sure if that's good or bad in context.

It also broke PlayStation network.

In all seriousness, that marketing must have Activision and Sony grinning from ear to ear.

especially 90% increase in overall PSN sales... that a lot of freaking sales that they get a lot more money on than if they sell in gamestop.

Very true. I still don't think anyone here thought the Xbox One version of the game would have done better though. The PS4 marketing was huge and the PS4 userbase is huge too obviously.

I remember many saying it would be close but no one saying the Xbox One version would still outsell it.

You said it yourself, Xbox crowd loves online shooters.

Does Destiny XBO numbers include the free ones that were given with the console? Could explain why it's higher.

2 big questions for now:

Destiny Xbox One outsold PS4 version including bundles?

Xbox One hardware sales?

No, for the first question, it only outsold it in standalone software sales.

As for the second question, the leak will probably come out later on at night. I'd say in about 2 - 3hrs

article reads "Destiny in particular was huge for Sony, as the company noted that PS4 has been the lead platform for the game in terms of units sold through October 4"

Well, more accurately we don't know. All we know is standalone sold more on XB1 and it doesn't include PS4 bundles. But we don't know exact numbers and we don't know the exact number of PS4's sold that were Destiny bundles...

So, we don't know.

It's certainly possible (likely) that it sold better on PS4 when combing all bundles. But again...we don't know.

Edit: actually, it does look like it sold most on PS4:

Destiny in particular was huge for Sony, as the company noted that PS4 has been the lead platform for the game in terms of units sold through October 4. Additionally, while NPD doesn't provide specific digital sales yet, Sony boasted that Destiny helped the PlayStation Store set a new record for the month. And the limited-edition Destiny PS4 bundle drove PS4 hardware sales to its biggest month in 2014 - Sony said PS4 hardware numbers "nearly tripled" those of August.

But the bundles and the free game promotion (for a week) is for new system owners. Are we ignoring the current install base? Doesn't the PS4 have a bigger install base?

Digital?
Also as someone who sold my old PS4 in favor of buying a new white one, I am sure others would have too?
