Not a surprise. FPS's always does well on Xbox consoles compared to Playstation consoles.

Now something like Japanese 3rd party games, Grand Theft Auto, as well as genres like RPG's, & Fighting games on the other hand...

Does NPD track digital sales? I think a lot of people are switching to digital copies rather than physical copies whih could explain the drop in software sales.

People are most likely buying a console with a game bundled. Games that are bundled don't count in NPD sales. Neither do digital purchases.

GTAV was released last year. You know that game.... that sold like a billion copies. Drop was expected.

I own PS4 destiny, but I own it by buying the digital PS3 edition and getting it for free.

There were so many options available for how to buy it.

Software is expected because PS3/360 had a mammoth install base and it was GTA 5 month which sold what, 20 million or something?

Read the OP. PS4 sales nearly tripled Augusts numbers which were about 190k so that means it sold around 570k in September.

I suspect that if the Sunset Overdrive bundle fails to keep X1 hardware competitive, Microsoft is gonna have to scrap their current bundle strategy (new free game with console purchase) and go to the next tactic on their list - a straight up $49-99 price drop on base H/W MSRP.

So far, their bundling strat at $399 has failed to move the needle vs the competition (Titanfall, Madden, FH2, September free game) and i think the data clearly points out that it's time to move on and try something new.

a $349 bundle with AC:U or MCC should definitely get them back in the hunt but the question is whether or not microsoft is willing to spend that much ($100+) for a single user acquisition.

Is the XBOX One not doing very good or is the PS4 just doing really well so it appears the XBOX One isn't doing very good, or both? And where does the WiiU fit in all of this or does nobody really care about the WiiU? So many have this bleak outlook for Microsoft yet it doesn't appear to be the same case with Nintendo.

So, the PS4 would be over 12 million units sold now, right. Maybe close to 13 million? What was the last official report of units sold? 10 million?

10 million in mid-August. Probably around 12 million right now. Not sure how well the Destiny bundle did globally but PS4 probably sold around ~800k in US since the last update.

Hahah, I just saw via the comments on the VentureBeat article that Kevin Dent is somehow still claiming that Destiny sales worldwide are greater on the xbone than the PS4.

This is despite that worldwide press release from Activision and Sony.

There you have it, guys. Pachter was talking about global/worldwide sales.
