Mighty No. 9 DLC announced.

New Boss + Stage. The guy is called Ray, is Beck's rival, something like Proto Man.

TOO LONG, DIDN’T READ!

If we reach another $190K via slacker backers by the end of this calendar year, ALL backers will get a bonus DLC code to download an extra level and boss sometime summer 2015!

All the details here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-9/posts/1034261

Read this before anything.

Disclosure: I worked on the original MN9 Kickstarter campaign.

FWIW, it's not Day One DLC (the full update spells this out really clearly a couple places, though if you just saw the OT I can see how you might think this). And it's basically saying that all pre-order money (slacker backers) from this point through the end of the year will go towards making this DLC, if they get enough to make it -- and if they do, the 80K backers who already funded the main game will get it for free.

They are showing their costs (which are over what they are saying they need in pre-order money) and seemingly being totally open about the entire process -- I'm not sure how this can be construed as unethical just because the game isn't out yet, unless you think taking money for pre-orders is unethical.

I do know some people personally don't like hearing about DLC before a game is out yet, for any reason, which I can certainly understand. The update makes it sound like (and I know from working on other games) they are probably talking about it now cause of how some parts of game dev finish before others.

For the love of all that is lemon, how much more crowdfunding do they need? Especially DLC for a game that is not even finished yet.

I get a bad vibe from this. Haven't they asked for more money previously too, after the project got funded with viiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide margins.

Push him into Mighty No. 9 2 and if Mighty No 9 is great then I'll Kickstart its sequel. I won't Kickstart DLC though, that's for sure.

At this point, I almost want to see this whole thing come crashing down (Like from poor sales of the title, other mishaps), just to see how Inafaking rebounds and tugs on our heartstrings again.

But then I remember that this is the closest thing to a new game that the fanbase has to look forward to, so I bite my tongue.

They are asking for more money even though they already received 3 million?

Just stick the wannabe-Getter Robo in the second game or something.

.

WTF??

All that is left is another campaign for pre-order dlc.

Riiiiiggght. "all that is left" Yeah I'll believe that when they finally finish the game (if they do anyway) and ask us to crowd fund the the shipping and manufacturing too. (Although I don't think they are making physical copies of the game are they?)

Still looking forward to the game but it seems like every update is about pushing more money. I like seeing stuff in production and behind the scenes stuff but I'm at the point with this where I really don't care about updates anymore in this project.

This was the first and only game I have ever backed and they're trying really hard to sour me on the experience. The amount of cash grabbing they're doing is very unpleasant.

The update doesn't even explicitly state if it will be free or paid DLC for non-backers.

It makes sense that it will be paid content for non backers.

So they want to get $190.000 in 2 months?, someone must be delusional at Comcept, it took forever to rise $100.000.

The beta was great and I'm really excited for the game but they should stop already. Deliver the game, if people like it and is a success, think bigger with the sequel.

Talking about DLC for your crowdfunded game prior to release irks me the wrong way. And I'm usually a supporter of DLC.

Edit: Irks me the wrong way? You could say it ... wrowas me.

Jeez, this is the first thing I kickstarted and everything they've shown since development started has me kind of regret it. I mean, I love the force behind this game, but...man, this is disappointing.

This really isn't any different from Star Citizen keeping pledges open or the recent announcement that Torment 2 would have more content thanks to late pledgers pushing the total amount above some goal they had set up for it. I don't get why people are getting their panties in a twist over this. They want more money to offer you more content. Hardly an alien concept or a scam, unless you have some irrational hatred towards any & all DLC.

He looks like Zero merged with Senketsu from Kill La Kill (Especially in the earlier designs with the eyes on his chest...) Seems good its strange how similar to Mega man deigns they are staying though.

That wouldn't be surprising looool.

They haven't it's DD on all platforms.

Q:How will the game be sold?
A:The PC version will be sold via Steam, while the retail versions will be sold over the digital game download service of each console manufacturer.

Jeez, now I'm regretting the fact that I supported the first campaign... I helped create this monster! Three crowd-funding campaigns for a single game? Ridiculous, especially considering how successful the first one was. Crowd-funding for DLC? That's... that's just not cool, man.
