Assassin's Creed Unity Leaker calls out to Neogaf/provides clarification on graphics

Just woke up (it's morning here). Anyone feel like giving me a TL:DR brief rundown of what's going on in here?

Thanks in advance.

it's not irrelevant if you can't make the same allowances to posters who are shitting on how this game looks, which you obviously can't as evidenced by this thread's creation. it clearly demonstrates your hypocrisy and bias, and your words and defense have little weight.
I already stated in this thread that I can understand some of the critcisms. That's not hypocrisy, I didn't say that every who thinks it's super downgraded is wrong, I did however point out some of the hyperbole.

Yup. Which means gamers as consumers should be louder then ever. Otherwise it will get worse.

Just as we now have exclusive DLC content within DLC packages. Consumers need to speak up, even more so when these companies are making bank.

The most laughable thing I've seen is people lazily "protesting" Ubisoft by buying their games used or discounted. They don't have the fortitude to simply not open their wallets at all, because it's so hard not to buy a video game.

I'll show you Ubisoft...by playing your game?

The worst part is I'm a part of the problem. As much as Ubi pisses me off I love their games. Ugh
I feel like this is the only place I see people upset they buy games they enjoy.

It's hard to even respect those people.

Honor and fortitude are huge parts of being a gamer.

Jeez at this point this marketing is becoming obnoxious.

Curious how all the "leakers" have been French.

-Ubi PR/CM everywhere. Don't be naive.

I love conspiracy theories on gaf, please continue.

It's ironic how in the 'one image that summarizes modern gaming' people acted like developers only care about graphics and not substance. And now people are skipping this game because of seemingly subpar IQ and stuffs.
No one plays assassins creed for good gameplay

Besides the character assassination of myself due to a mod giving me this title months ago, multiple thread derails, etc, the leaker clarified that the game does not look as bad in person as it does in the screenshots, other leakers have given their impressions as well. And now the leaker would like gaf to ask questions about the game.

I never said that the screens were facebook uploads. The videos he posted were using the facebook upload though.

He wasn't using the USB method. The USB method looks much better than the direct upload method. Come on now, that was established months ago.

Am I missing something here? You said his images weren't USB uploads and blamed PS4s "shitty" screenshot function. (Shin-Ra proved they were actually USB uploads, correct?).

And in the other thread you were claiming the video looked better than the screenshots!

It's a 720p youtube video of one of the leaked facebook videos. It certainly shows off impressive looking visuals despite the compressions and a way more stable framerate than last month's xb1 footage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32NLNaz6R_c
And shows that the game looks better in motion than in these blurry screenshots.
It's confirmed that the ps4 wrecks the screenshot quality. Which is something that many people knew, but forgot. Making a new thread about this.

Damn, you're a crafty one.

Oh, now this is ironic because I remember you, OP, before the launch of Infamous:SS...you constantly berated the game and claimed it was downgraded in what seemed like most Infamous:SS articles over at N4G. You even cherry-picked off-screen, heavily compressed, shrunk down shots to try and prove that the downgrade had occurred.

http://n4g.com/news/1461484/troy-baker-infamous-second-son-looks-amazing-gives-details-on-delsins-good-and-evil-paths#c-8920058

So I'm wondering why you're so hell-bent on this defending this game against claims of it being downgraded, when it clearly has been, when you were more than happy to bash Infamous every chance you got?

It burns...

Because imo that video showing the game in motion and climbing notre dame puts the game in a much better light than those screens. But then again many games look better in motion than in screenshots like Driveclub.

So is the PC version of ACU locked to 900p?
Nope, framerate isn't locked either. So if your pc can handle it you can play it at a higher framerate then people like myself who're buying the console version.

I see, so there is no excuse why the images are that blurry? It isn't anything to do with FaceBook/Twitter compression if he used USB method (although they don't produce perfect shots, they wouldn't be blurry unless the game its self was).

Idk if he used the USB method. I don't see anyone mentioning it though on the forum with a quick skim through, although I don't understand French and am not translating every single post.

I wonder if the mission design will be creative and fresh this time around, and not just the same old locate>tail>kill>escape formula? I can play the game if it's a little ugly or blurry, but I can't take any more of that tired, boring, cookie-cutter mission design.

Its tough, but they will only listen to our wallet. Were also in a sort of gaming golden age, where there's so much choice and diversity its crazy. Everyone fighting for your dollars.

I tend to try to reward the devs/pubs/co's that do the right things and put out good games without being condescending or cynical.

There's always the used game option as well, or not pre-ordering. But speaking up directly or on social media does get noticed.

From Ubiblog

Mission structure has also changed. Or, to put it more directly: missions no longer have a set structure. In previous games, you’d be given a defined set of goals. You’d achieve them, or you’d start over – either at the beginning of the mission or at an appropriate checkpoint. Assassin’s Creed Unity introduces something called Adaptive Mission Mechanic (AMM) – which is exactly what it sounds like.

To explain AMM, Amancio lays out a typical scenario from previous games. Let’s say you’re tailing a Templar target; if you get spotted, the mission might be over. That’s no longer the case. “We’ve opted for a different philosophy where we won’t tell you Tail this guy,” Amancio says. “We’ll just maybe tell you Figure out where he’s going.” That means you can tail him if you like – and if you get spotted, the tail could turn into a chase. If you lose him altogether, your goal switches to locating your target. If a riot happens to break out and your target is killed, then you can loot his body to, say, find a letter that tells you where he’s going. “So it’s really up to the player to figure out how he’s going to do this,” Amancio says.

Of course, there’s much more to AMM than this. It’ll never be as simple as choosing the easiest path (i.e., killing every target and looting their bodies) because that could have serious repercussions in the world. “If a guy is missing, maybe they’re going to double up patrols in your next mission. So there’s a risk. It evens itself out.”

Yes and no. Tail missions are still in, but if you're spotted the mission turns into a chase, and if you lose the target it becomes a search.

Remember E3 2013, people wandered why we disliked to know that some games were running on PC and not directly on console. This new Assassin creed is a perfect example of a pretty game during E3 and not so a pretty game in the end just like Watch dog.

I was disappointed in the ACU resolution when the news broke, but I didn't care all that much. I only got pissed off when Ubisoft tried to tell me that Resolution and framerate don't matter, treating people like idiots is their biggest mistake here.

My hype for ACU is ruined, I'll only be getting it close to release if the reviews are ridiculous. Mordor has stolen it's thunder.

Wait, now I should feel like shit because I like Ubi games? Bwahaha

Bigger AAA like this also helps Ubi to experiment with some original and beautiful games like Child of Light, Valiant Hearts and Rayman, no other company seems interested in doing this.

Also, where do you find a game with these settings? If it doesn't have weapons, it doesn't get made.

I hate the lies about graphics as much as the next guy, but we can not deny that they're doing tue effort to get out of the grity, bald space marine shooter, with those games we have the posibility to see Venice, Rome, Paris, The Caribbean, Constantinopla, where would I get this if not from them?

Now if they would just shut up and make their games and show them as they REALLY look, that would be awesome.

Is it just me or is there a bright light that comes and goes? Is it part of the game?
The buildings cast huge shadows. There's no day and night cycle so the sun is always in the same place. There's dynamic weather that affects the amount of sunlight. If you're referring to the "ghost of Arno" that appears twice then that's just the new stealth system, a ghost of you will appear after enemies lose sight of you showing your last known location, like in splinter cell.

And fucking LOL at that latest wall of text, damage control-a-ton from this guy. Why do we need to know his life story? Why does he need to spew that "c'mon guys, let's just enjoy the game, visuals aren't everything!" garbage?

We know that games can still be fun without them looking amazing. But that's not the issue here. We were shown the game months ago, and it looked amazing...now we have seen the game again, and it doesn't look as amazing. That's the issue here. Ubisoft continuously lies to our faces.

You know, this is starting to sound like a viral marketing attempt going bad. Purposely leak something you think will get fan excited, but didn't expect them to call BS on your deceptive marketing of it 12-18 months back.

Stranger things have happened.

I actually enjoy the assassination mechanics quite a bit and I like the whole "blackbox" mission design in Unity.... is this just a pile on of snarky remarks because people want higher rez and more shadows?
What are the assassination mechanics you're referring to? Just all of the different methods you can kill someone?

I'm just talking about on a fundamental level, the act of playing the game doesn't feel good. The parkour feels restrictive and unchallenging. The combat is too simplistic with the reliance on counters. The mission design for the last few games have been very poor in how restrictive they tend to be and how easily you desync if you don't follow the path the devs lay out for you.

Im not trying to be snarky here. I really do think people truly play these games for the world, to experience new locales in history while looking cool doing things. Not for good gameplay, otherwise they'd fix all of these thing instead of building on top of the very first game's poor design.

Of course, I have not played Unity. Maybe things will be different this time.

I was wondering what that was, cool.
Apart from the blur and pop-in, it looks pretty good, especially the buildings.

If they do decide on a 1080p patch, I'll perhaps change my mind and pick it up (unless it's still blurry then). The whole parity bullshit annoyed the hell out of me.

I'm still disappointed and I lost all hype for the game. I really like the AC franchise, I own AC, ACII, AC:B, AC:R, ACIII collectors edition and ACIV:Blackflag, but I'm totally skipping this game :/
