They do mean something though, if they meant nothing then everyone should have stats like Manning.. right?

Rings mean a lot.. but only one team can win a title.. and no ONE person wins a title for any team.. but stats over a long career.. yeah.. the mean something.

I'm a Patriots fan. I'm a Brady fan. I think Manning is the better QB.

I've long felt that Manning is "the better passer while Brady is the better QB," mostly in that Manning has (IMO) always been a step ahead of Brady in terms of the on-field ability of a passer... Makes the right decisions, makes the right reads, hits the open WRs, and can march down a field unimpeded and has been doing so for 15 years in the NFL. But... he gets outschemed and it's been a hallmark of his career since his second season in the NFL and, really, all the way up to today. Manning's teams always win the games that they should win, but when they face even opponents, his teams are usually around .500.

The counter to this has been that it's always been Brady & Belichik, while Manning thrives best under a "get out of the way" coach. I'd say this is counter-balanced by the talent that's been assembled around Manning, as opposed to the Patriots approach.

My "Brady is the better QB" opinion comes down to Brady's ability to win. Brady has the highest winning percentage of any QB in the Super Bowl era (.774). Manning is 4th (.700). Manning initially set a record for the most wins by his 200th game, at 136, Brady has cruised past that to 154... Now 155 after last night. Brady also has the most playoff wins of any QB, at 18, while Manning is still an awfully good 11, but at this point he doesn't have a prayer to catch Brady (Manning would have to win three more Super Bowls to surpass Brady, assuming Brady only wins one more playoff game in his career -- both are extremely unlikely).

Manning may struggle in the playoffs, but that doesn't mean that Brady is better than him. Manning has been the better player throughout his entire career. Brady is helped and his chokes are masked by cheating in the first half of his career, which just happens to coincide with his greatest postseason successes.

His three Super Bowls are a sham. Manning may suck in the postseason, but that doesn't change the fact that the Patriots shit the bed in both of those Super Bowls failing to score more than 17 points in both games against huge underdogs.

Brady is someone who is a Hall of Famer, but he's not better than Manning. For as shitty as Manning has played in the playoffs, at least he has a legitimate Super Bowl.

List Manning's entire high school record while you are at it.

It doesn't account for the "defense letting (the Patriots) down in 2007 and 2013."

The offensive juggernaut Pats led by Brady in those seasons were shaken and complete shit in those games. 14 points, 17 points.

Brady threw a shit ball to Welker, and because Brady has three sham Super Bowls, it was Welker who is the fall guy for Boston's untouchable god.

Got it. Manning is better than Brady when he's playing for home field during the regular season but not when he actually gets to the post season when it matters. Makes perfect sense to me.

Brady wins it all when he cheats, and Manning has fucked up in the playoffs in the past.

Brady has been a fuck up in the playoffs for awhile, but since he has those Sham Bowls, he is treated like royalty, while Manning still has to prove something.

You know who beat those great Manning Colts teams and that great Steelers team? The Patriots and their cameras. They cheated through every game. The Pats may have been a great team on their own, but we will never know. They needed the edge that they had to beat some great teams that were favored in their games (Steelers, Rams, Eagles).

The only team that was "great" was the Rams. The rest of your post is just your typical whining that's usually limited to the NFL thread. You offer no new proof.

Those Manning Colts teams were manhandled at the line of scrimmage, which is what happened yesterday during the Pats game and what happened in last year's Super Bowl. Say what you want about Brady but he never lost a SB that way, even with the incredible pressure on him during both SB losses. The Broncos didn't bother showing up, they were an embarrassment last year.

Manning is 1-2 in SBs and 11-12 in his playoff career. There's a reason people think Manning has something to prove, because he has been inadequate in the playoffs.

I think that Steelers team was a great team in 2004. The Eagles were a favorite in 2004, but they were coming into the game with an injured Terrell Owens.

McNabb and the Eagles blew that game in the end, but it was never on the level. I wouldn't call that team great since they lost to the Pats and Steelers that season, but they were close. Their defense wasn't as strong as they were in 2002.

Edit:

Brady has won zero legitimate Super Bowls. He's 0-5 in the big game, yet we treat his records as legit, while no one respects Bonds's accomplishments.

Goodell absolved the Pats, burned the tapes, and the Pats are never really held to the scrutiny that they deserve. They are still treated like they are a clean, model organization.

The model is to cheat like Hell, and be buddy-buddy with the Commissioner. Recent months show that the league is more than willing to kill a story. It's their first move. Anyone that could hold their feet to the fire or bring it up rely on huge television contracts from the NFL.

Perfectly logical. I'm sold. Damn cheater!

What the fuck is going on here?

Brady is a system qb. He relies on his coaches to get him favorable matchup taking advantage of the stupidity of other teams. They also cheat like little bitches and couldn't win shit in the playoffs since they were exposed.

Almost anyone could step into the Pats and win 10 games as Matt Cassel proved the year Brady went down. The Colts went 0-17 the year Peyton finally broke.

Also no one can be called the best football player of all time when they literally cry like a baby for fouls. I see tougher kids in preschool after a bad collision.

I give the cheat credit for his ability to consistently beat bad football teams in the regular season. There is always going to be an asterisk with him and the entire Pats organization because they were cheaters. And the worst commish in sports destroyed the evidence rather than let everyone see how bad it was. Brady though is just a system qb. Yes he can dink and dunk with the best of them (as long as the pass is not required to go more than 8 yards), he is a good salesperson for women's shoes, and he is probably a good husband seeing as how he lets his wife put on a strap on in the bedroom. But as a football player?

He is a weak bitch whose fraud tendencies are exposed every January. Usually in front of his home fans. Who have been loyal supporters of the Patriots since 2003. What a franchise. What a player.

The Patriots have won three SBs. None of your mud slinging can change that.

And look up what the word absolved means, because being fined an exorbitant amount of money and having a first round draft pick taken away means quite the opposite. That's punishment.

As long as we're going to talk about shit from years and years ago, let's take away SBs from the Niners since they cheated the salary cap. No one ever brings that shit up for whatever reason.

jabee so mad that Brady is infinitely more handsome and better than Manning.

The Broncos got embarrassed in the Super Bowl. Meanwhile the Patriots and Giants provided two of the best SBs of all time and the Giants had great defense and the game could've gone either way both times. But no its Brady's fault even tho he got them the lead in the Fourth quarter without cheating lmao. Football isn't an individual sport it's a team and Brady played way better than Manning did last year.

Manning the guy who's been surrounded by talent his entire career. Has a losing playoff record. Notorious for stat padding and a giant ass forehead.

Vs Brady.

Someone who always had worst teams than Manning besides a few seasons. Two more rings and the winningest quarterback of all time. The greatest quarterback of all times who's ridiculously good looking.

Not even close.

The Pats did win 3 Super Bowls.

These are valued as much as when Saddam, Kim and Bush won the election to lead their countries.

I value those Pats wins about as much as I value Jerry Sandusky as a babysitter for my children.

Just a meager amount of blood money compared to what they earned from their franchise becoming relevant.

This isn't relativism, your perception doesn't change the reality, nor do your typical shock inspiring posts do anything really at all.

Just a meager amount of blood money compared to what they earned from their franchise becoming relevant.

You going to address my Niners point or not? Because the double standard is quite telling. The Niners became largely shit after Young left until recently so no one gives a shit. And really that's the point. You don't like the Patriots success. If it wasn't Spygate it'd be something else.

I love how the retards in this thread have to compare Brady (a known cheater and possible man) to Peyton Manning and not guys like Joe Montana or XFL champs like Tommy Maddox. Yes we all know that Peyton is a cheater and yes we all know that with extensive video footage of the other teams plays Brady was able to be clutch and drive his team sometimes up to 30 yards for Adam Vinatieri to kick 90 yard FGs through the snow.

Someone show me the footage of Cool Joe crying to a ref after the Giants literally murdered him on the field during the playoffs when they knocked him out.

Take mannings name out of that post and read off his post season short comings and I gurantee people's tones change. Pey pey gets a pass cause he's pey pey. Dude is a beast in the regular season no doubt but I wouldn't want him leading a 4th quarter drive in the super bowl with the game on the line. I'd take chubby chasing big Ben or goober manning. Manning had some great teams around him on both sides of the ball and still blew it. I do acknowledge the pats are filthy cheaters and their sb's should have an asterisk next to them.

I don't even care about Manning that much. My problem is with the Patriots.

Also, to say that Bowl Game Belichick didn't pad Tom Brady's stats is a joke.

Also, Brady and the Patriots cheated. I think we have completely different world views. If we can't agree that the Pats cheated their way to those Super Bowls, then I don't think we can meet a common understanding.

Brady is a Hall of Fame QB, much like Bonds was a Hall of Fame outfielder before he turned to PEDs. Brady's biggest accomplishments and records are tainted by systematic cheating.

Sorry maybe I used the wrong words.

When he is a known crybaby on the field (see numerous GIFS of him literally crying to refs) and is physically weak and slow how should I best describe those attributes of his?

The Broncos and Niners circumvented the cap with deferred payments and deserve shit for it.

The Patriots' cheating went beyond organizational accounting tricks. They taped entire team walkthroughs. We only know the surface of what was found out on the Pats. Goodell and the NFL did not allow the public to know what actually happened.

Doesn't matter. Brady still put them in a position to win and no Welker NEEDS to catch that ball.

Let's not even bring up Peytons QB performance
The Cold, Hard Reality: Peyton Manning shits the bed every year in the playoffs

Manning is a prolific Hall of Fame quarterback who will be remembered as one of the all-time great.

But the bottom line is that his otherwise brilliant career is burdened by one undeniable weakness: he shits the bed almost every f*cking year in the playoffs. In fact, based upon regular season production and postseason results, Manning is probably the worst Big Game quarterback of all time, always reserving his worst game of the season for the playoffs.

1997 regular season – Manning is dominant in his final season for the Tennessee Volunteers, passing for 36 TD, 11 INT while leading the team to 32.9 PPG in the tough SEC. The best QB in college football finishes No. 2 in the Heisman voting, behind triple-theat performer Charles Woodson.

1997 postseason – Manning produces just a single TD through three quarters and is benched in the fourth quarter as the talent-laden No. 3 Volunteers get smoked by Nebraska, 42-17. Manning completes 21 of 31 for 131 yards, a dismal 4.2 YPA. He is benched in the fourth quarter for Tee Martin, who leads a scoring drive and then leads stacked Tennessee to the national title the following season.

1999 regular season – The Colts roll through the season with a 13-3 record behind second-year phenom Manning. They score 26.4 PPG, third in the NFL.

1999 postseason – Manning completes just 45.2% of his passes with 5.4 YPA and a 62.3 rating as the Colts lose to the Titans, 19-16, playing at home in the Indy dome no less. One and done in the playoffs.

2000 regular season – Manning is brilliant (33 TD, 15 INT, 94.7 rating), while leading the Colts to 26.8 PPG (fourth) and a 10-6 record.

2000 postseason – Manning again struggles to get the ball downfield, completing just 53.1% of his passes for 194 yards, 6.1 YPA and an ordinary 82.0 rating. The Colts lose in Miami, 23-17. One and done in the playoffs.

2002 regular season – The Colts are merely ordinary on offense but go 10-6 and earn a wildcard spot behind one of the league's better defenses: 19.6 PPG (7th). They earn a cushy draw against the 9-7 AFC East champion Jets.

2002 postseason – Manning and the Colts come up lame in one of the most dismal offensive performances in modern playoff history. He completes 45.2% of his passes for 137 yards, 4.4 YPA, 0 TD, 2 INT and a 31.2 rating. The Colts are embarrassed by the 9-7 Jets, 41-0. One and done in the playoffs.

2003 regular season – The Colts explode for 27.9 PPG (2nd) on their way to a 12-4 record and the AFC South crown. Manning wins his first NFL MVP award, sharing the honor with Steve McNair.

2003 postseason – MVP Manning finally enjoys his first postseason success leading the Colts to the AFC title game with a pair of brilliant playoff performances against the Broncos and Chiefs. Then his statistical chariot turned into a pumpkin, with four picks and a 35.5 rating in an ugly 24-14 loss at New England.

2004 regular season – MVP Manning sets the football world abuzz, throwing a record 49 TD passes while leading the Colts to 522 points and a 12-4 record. Manning wins his second consecutive league MVP award.

2004 postseason – Manning is brilliant against the Broncos in the wildcard round, as he was the year before. Then the NFL MVP shits the bed against the Patriots, with just 5.7 YPA, 0 TD, 1 INT and a 69.3 rating in a 20-3 loss. Compared to regular-season production, it is arguably the worst offensive performance in the history of the NFL postseason – at least to that point.

2005 regular season – The mighty Colts are teed up on both sides of the ball to win the Super Bowl: No. 2 in scoring offense (27.4 PPG); No. 2 in scoring defense (15.4), on their way to a brilliant 14-2 record and No. 1 seed in the AFC. It sets up a week rest and a home game against the 11-5 Steelers. By now you know how this story ends.

2005 postseason – Manning didn't exactly shit the bed. But after another brilliant regular season, the offense struggles with its worst performance of the year, producing just 3 points through three quarters. The Colts lose at home to the Steelers, 21-18. One and done in the playoffs.

2006 regular season – The Colts score 26.7 PPG (2nd) on their way to a 12-4 record.

2006 postseason – Proving that even a blind squirrel can find a nut, Manning throws 3 TDs and 7 INTs in four postseason games, but bumbles his way to his only Super Bowl victory behind Indy's brilliant defensive play (16.3 PPG in postseason). He posts the lowest playoff passer rating of any Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

2007 regular season – The defending champs roll through the season with a 13-3 record behind a prolific offense (28.1 PPG; 3rd) and the league's best defense (16.4 PPG; 1st).

2007 postseason – Manning passes for 402 yards and 3 TDs against the visiting Chargers. But the game turns on two costly INTs in San Diego territory at the end of the first half and at the start of the second half. His third-quarter pass was picked off at the San Diego 3, costing the team critical points in a 28-24 loss. One and done in the playoffs.

2008 regular season – The Colts go 12-4, led by a defense that's No. 7 in the NFL in scoring (18.6 PPG). They go on the road in the wildcard round, but get another gimme draw against the 8-8 AFC West champion Chargers. With foil Tom Brady out all year with an injury, the path is paved for Manning and the Colts to win their second Super Bowl.

2008 postseason – Manning doesn't shit the bed. But he hardly looks like the NFL's Most Valuable Player against the average San Diego defense. The Colts struggle to find a groove in a 23-17 loss. One and done in the playoffs.

2009 regular season – The balanced Colts go 14-2 behind a strong offense (7th in scoring) and defense (8th), and another MVP performance by Manning (33 TD, 16 INT, 99.9 rating).

2009 postseason – Manning advances to the Super Bowl for the second time in his career. The MVP has a chance to tie the game and cement his legend in the fourth quarter. Instead, his pass his picked off by Tracy Porter, who returns it 74 yards for the game-clinching score. Colts lose to the Saints, 31-17, as Manning is outplayed by Drew Brees.

2010 regular season – The Colts struggle through a 10-6 season, but it's still enough to win the AFC South. Manning throws 33 TD passes and again leads one of the best offenses in football (27.2 PPG).

2010 postseason – Manning plays well, passing for 225 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT and a 108.7 rating on 26 attempts. But his team, as usual, suddenly struggles to score points in a critical game. The Colts lose at home to the Jets, 17-16. One and done in the playoffs.

2012 regular season – Manning's first year in Denver is a great success. The Broncos are stacked on both sides of the ball (No. 2 scoring offense; No. 4 scoring defense), go 13-3 and earn the AFC's No. 1 seed.

2012 postseason – Manning threw a pick-six and an ugly Favre-esque across-his-body overtime INT to seal Denver's fate in a 38-35 loss to the Ravens. The Broncos fail to win a game in which they produced two special teams touchdowns. One and done in the playoffs.

2013 regular season – The Broncos dominate the NFL behind Manning's fifth MVP performance. He throws a record 55 TD passes while leading the first 600-point team in NFL history (606).

2013 postseason – Manning takes shitting the bed to new levels in Super Bowl XLVIII. Hell, he shit all over the floor and the walls, too. Wide-eyed Manning muffs the first snap of the game, handing the Seahawks a gift 2-0 lead. He's picked off in Seattle territory later in the first quarter, and throws a pick-six at the end of the first half.

The greatest offense in NFL history is shutout for nearly three quarters, behind Manning's worst game of the season (5.7 YPA, 73.5 rating). The Denver offense, after scoring 37.9 PPG in the regular season, is humiliated in a 43-8 loss. It is easily the worst postseason offensive performance relative to regular season success in the Super Bowl Era, replacing Manning's 2004 Colts for that dishonor.

The best part about this post is you completely leaving out the 18 point deficit the Colts over came to beat the Pats that year.

Manning had the game winning drive that game (not for a FG, but a TD). But it doesn't fit the narrative of him choking so it's never brought up.

Nevermind us beating two top ranking defenses in the playoffs that year. (13-3 Ravens and Bears). Let's just talk about Rex Grossman—and not bring up the 13-3 record.

If anything, that year proves that a Superbowl is a team effort more than anything. It was the one year we had a defense and running game in the postseason. Without those things, yes, we would've probably lost (just like Tom without Bill would've been a nobody--let's be honest). The defense was gone in that Pats game, but he bailed us out when it mattered. Despite the crap numbers, that's probably one of my favorite Colts Manning performances.

EDIT: I don't care who people think I'd better anymore btw. But at least sound like you watch the game instead of posting numbers to fit you narrative, and then say "stats don't matter!" when they don't. There's never any consistency and these debates lol.

I agree with others in this thread. The only True Championships are the unsullied 13 World Championships won by the winningest franchise in professional football history.

What the fuck is going on here?

Brady is a system qb.

Your post is a terrific, hurt sports fan rant and I won't take that away from you, but gosh I haven't seen this silly remark in almost 15 years when Brady first started winning, and fans of the former cherished franchises like the Cowboys and 49ers were in the dumps. Let me guess, back in like 2003, 2004, etc., you complained that the only reasons traditional losers like the Rams, Patriots, Saints, and so on, won was because of "parity" and if they had played in the golden era of 1985-1992, THEN they'd see what's up... right?

The NFL is a system sport. Every player is a system player. That's why it's so rare for a QB to go from one team to another and immediately have success. The few times that's happened in the modern era, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning most recently, is because those organizations rebuilt their offensive system around their QBs to match their style. Teams that weren't willing to rebuild their system around a QB and have not had nearly the same success... Compare Oakland with Carson Palmer and Arizona with Carson Palmer. Same QB, successful in one organization that has a similar offensive style to where he previously had success, versus a complete failure in Oakland... but... Oakland's just a complete failure in general.

The Patriots going 10-6 without Brady, and the Colts going 2-14 without Manning is because the Patriots traditionally try to add quality backups to their starters who have similar play styles. This is why Matt Cassel and Brian Hoyer were both starters going into this season, while Dan Orlovsky and Curtis Painter have barely thrown passes in the NFL. You can trace this back to 2001 even, when Tom Brady was widely considered the best quarterback not starting in the NFL, and the Patriots had started to retool their offense away from Bledsoe's high yardage, deep threat game (which Bledsoe went to have short term success with in Buffalo).

But, point being, every successful QB is a system QB in the NFL today. Hell, more often than not, every successful player in the NFL is a system player. The number of players who switch systems, offense and defense, and are still successful is pretty low.
